One side of my family spent a lot of time in that specific area, and that game farm is almost surely one place they would have visited. One of my grandparents is buried close by, too. I have a few black and white photos from that time; your videos are a lot more vivid of that beautiful place, for sure. Also nice that this bike's getting reviewed by someone who knows how to turn a wrench.

Pretty awesome video Sam. I may give one of those E-bikes a try. I do miss the beauty of upstate NY. I was stationed at Ft. Drum from 87-93 and hunted in the Adirondacks. Truly amazing country.

That one handed riding downhill because you have to hold the camera was a little nail biting. Great camera work. The waterfall ( and Sam) was amazing. Upstate New York like upstate Michigan is beautiful.

Thought I recognized some of the scenery, and think I am just 4 hrs away across the border. The more I watch these videos, the more I see potential for backcountry road & trail touring. Still a hard core cyclist (and now two years car free) but could definitely see the fun of one of these bikes in my future. Great review-really enjoyed it…

That was fun, Sam, thanks for taking us along. I just got my ebike a week ago and I'm going to slowly work up to taking trips like that. It's therapy for me after a knee operation, and you were right about the step thru. I don't think I could even get on one that wasn't.

This is simply a treat! I spent over 50 years in the northeast and only once crossed the Hudson...a mistake. Please keep showing me why that is true. My age and vertigo tell me to enjoy the bike through your vision.

Some how I sense that you and Andrew are still connected. Both of your recent videos maintain that connection. One can only hope.. I think the connection is beneficial if Andrew would adapt. It’s none of my business but wishing you both much joy and happiness.

Your review was the best one by far. Most people ride about 2 miles for their review. A tip for older people like me or younger people who want easy dismounting, a step through is a must. So many people get their foot caught on the pedal for a second, just enough time to stop them from throwing their leg over the trip bar and they hit the ground with no legs to stop the fall and they break a bone. That being said I think your parents should get ebikes too, you have an awesome area to ride. Can go riding together.

One thing I've found that's really useful is a dropper seat post. Can be moved up or down while riding with lever on handlebars.

I used to go "bottle digging" with my Mom at old foundations. Have a look around and imagine where the old tenants had thrown their trash. (no dump in the old days) usually behind the house over a stone wall or hill. You will find tons of treasures, bottles, pottery, silverware etc.and it's really fun. I hope you'll try it, you wont be disapointed.

Wow Catskill Game Farm My family use to live in Hurley I was very young but still rember trips taken there way back then. Nice content enjoyed the beautiful footage......😉

They are fun bikes but be careful with the recharging they tend to get hot (battery and charger). Also be sure the battery stays fully locked in when riding they also tend to get loose causing issues. Enjoy and be safe,

I find if you go offroad its better to turn off pedal assist and just use throttle ,because assist just tries to get you to a certain speed , but on road the assist gives better automatic battery performance . On some controlers you can set them to power limit in volts or current (load) and you can get better duration . Best to have the throttle set to give max power and assist to give 50% power . Totally GREAT video though , it was like going on a holiday

Great video, beautiful area. I'm impressed that you could squeeze 30 miles out of the battery, considering the terrain and the size of the tires - The rolling resistance is quite high with the fat tires, as you found out when the battery went flat. lol

That was a good adventure, and you are a good guide and narrator. You stopped at very interesting spots, and pretty spots. I especially liked the old stone foundations by the waterfall. But that bike is a lot of mass. One little mechanical problem when you're miles away mean muscling that heavy beast for a long time. I look forward to your next video.

A buddy and I rode our Columbia 10 speeds from Castleton NY to Nova Scotia in 1972. We were there for the total eclipse of the sun. Awesome adventure……1200 miles! We ended up hitchhiking to Quebec, train to Montreal and fly back to Albany NY.

Only thing is, you have to worry about loose dogs. I'll never forget the time I had one run up under my motorcycle, plus another time a huge dog grabbed hold of my pants leg right when I had accidentally knocked it out of a better getaway gear. Don't know what the solution is for dog deterrent.

Beautiful swimming hole , I'm surprised you got to enjoy it alone . You would think it would be full of people . I need that in my back yard .

I bought a Freesky Swift Horse during Prime Days on Amazon. Similar experience as yours Sam. I rode on a mountain bike trail this past Sunday. It is no mountain bike, nor is it a trail motorcycle like I grew up riding. It is still a blast.

Nice rounded review, good to see some proper usage … I think you would benefit greatly from spending 15mins tweaking the suspension, unlike most road car suspension which is fixed, bike suspension is pretty tunable (air or oil, spring, etc) and you'll be amazed what a difference it can make. Setting it appropriately for sag and rider weight will make a massive difference. For instance, that little rubber o-ring on the rear shock is a travel indicatior, if its not been pushed to near the top of the stroke then you are wasting a lot of travel, comfort and grip … similar for the front forks. Easy to do, but overlooked by most riders seemingly.
