Dan did a lot of bad things in his life, but he never did anything intentionally to hurt Nathan. It's pretty much safe to say that Dan didn't love anyone other than Nathan. He truly loved his son like a true father.
Nathan wasn't the only one. He also loved Jamie, Lydia, and Sawyer. He also learned to love Haley, Deb, Lucas, and the rest of his family over the 9 seasons. By season 7 Dan was already a changed man. In many ways he was still the same manipulative Dan Scott, but his actions were driven by the selfless desire to protect his loved ones. Although what he did in the past couldn't be erased or forgiven, Dan did build a very strong relationship with his grandson. In the end, through his heroic actions, Dan earned back a piece of Nathan and Haley's love and forgiveness. Not to mention, he earned back Keiths love in death. Danny redeemed himself.
but he killed Keith and Keith was a second father to Lucas so he has a right to hate Dan I mean isn't it bad enough that he left Lucas but then he also kills his brother who always was there for his son why did he do it??? How can envy be so strong??
I got the sense that Dan loved both of his sons. He just was so good at manipulating people that it never really seemed like he loved Lucas, and Lucas never really trusted Dan b/c he was never really around for him.The two most telling scenes that showed his love for Lucas was when Lucas was in the car accident back in Season one when he saved Lucas’s life by driving him to the hospital and openly admitting he was his father telling the docs to do what they had to do to save him. And the fact that he had a desk drawer full of pictures of him. Lucas would have learned to love Dan too, but he killed Keith who was a second father to him.
Sometimes it takes people longer to change. Sometimes it takes years and that’s the case for Dan. He hurt a lot of people from Lucas, Deb, Nathan, Karen, Deb, and Keith. But I loved the season finale. But every TV show needs that villian, and for the most five or six seasons he was that villian. But he did learn to love Haley, Deb, Sawyer, Lydia. He loved Jamie too. But it’s hard for somebody who had such a meticulous and narcissistic past as Dan did. But him dying so Nathan could live not to mention saving him are two of the most selfless things he ever did. Saving Jamie from Carrie that crazy nanny. He tried to do lots of things to make up for his past.
ArmySister2 Agreed. I think Nathan and Haley would have tried their best to start a new relationship with Dan. Dan's act of incredible courage and love would not be forgotten by the son he saved, or that son's family. Nathan and Haley would have allowed Dan to be more involved in their lives. They would've allowed him to have more contact with their children, and Nathan would have done his best to spend more time with his father. Perhaps they'd play ball on the rivercourt and both would gain insight into each others personalities. Perhaps Haley would've let Dan work at Karen's Cafe or help her raise Jamie and Lydia. On the flipside, Dan would've done even more to make it up to his son and family. He would've been a wonderful granddad to Jamie and Lydia. And he would've finally become the father that Nathan always needed him to be: strong, protective, and loving. Nevertheless, neither Nathan nor Haley, nor anyone who knew Dan Scott before Jamie was born could ever trust the man completely. The damage and pain Dan Scott inflicted on Tree Hill for years can't be erased, and so that dark history would always be there. Even if Dan had lived, he'd still carry that burden with him. And I don't think Lucas or Karen could ever forgive him or want him around them. But his heroism would also allow others to view him in a better light. There would still be those who could never love him or forgive him. But he would've also gotten back a piece of Nathan and Haley's love and respect through his heroism. Dan isn't just be a monster to Nathan or Haley anymore, and something tells me that is enough for Dan Scott.
@@multiplemike I don't think Haley would've allowed him to work there and I think they still would have some trust issues with him so hold him at a bit of a distance.
I really like Dan and Nathan's relationship. They didnt have the perfect relationship but nathan truly loved Dan and you could tell. I think Dan is definitely a really good character.
The actor who acted Dan Scott is amazing! even though Dan is a pretty bad guy at the start but the actor acted his character out so well that, to me, no other person alive could take his place. Nearly all the actors in OTH are amazing (James Lafferty is off the scale but for whole different reasons haha 😉) I liked Dan Scott right from the start, even though he was a horrible man, I still felt that he had potential (I began to loathe him when he shot Keith) but the actor powered this amazing character into what he is now and I think that it's truly amazing.
Fr Dan was a G always was we just hated him too much to see it. Which is understandable bc he was a POS. It’s so sad seeing these 2 in this scene. Usually you’ll see these two at the mansion playing basketball with each other. But instead you got to see their last moments with each other in an abandoned warehouse, holding guns trying to survive. Sad asf.
Iceman, that would have been perfect. Lucas, Dan, and Chris saving Nathan would have been classic. Julian didn’t really belong there cause that guy did have a family. He was just doing it because the man had a good heart.
Makes me wanna 're watch the whole series. He came do good in the end he will never make up for killing Keith and even though both kids didn't want him in their lives he never stopped trying to help them. He saved lucas life from the fire he saved Jamie from crazy nanny kerry, he saved nathan and he took wrap for nathan killing the guy who hit hayleu with the car and was always super protective of Hayley
Clarayashi, extactly! And that’s the way to do it. He died so his son could live. That’s the way it’s done. Children are supposed to bury their parents, not parents burying their children.
I love how Dan comes through for Nathan after all, but it's kind of funny how Dan, just by virtue of having been in prison a couple of years, is suddenly Mr Die Hard, killing criminals left and right without batting a eyelash. I understand this is a father's love and all that, but there's some freaky killing skill there, and the show didn't tell us where he picked that up! Just being in prison doesn't mean you become a quality hitman! He wasn't quite as skilled yet when he battled Crazy Carrie.
uclmu2008 i mean he probably learned how to shoot with different guns after his encounter with Carrie and besides he knew he might not be coming back so why not go down in a blaze of glory and he did become super wealthy at one point so he probably used that money to learn the best gun shooting money could buy
I know this is a 7 year old comment, but I came here to say this! Such a huge and unbelievable jump from his character. Regardless how many times he says "I would do anything for my son", the words shouldn't suddenly make him a hitman with 100% accuracy and stealth. My guess is that anything more messy/rough would've been more costly/effortful to shoot.
The protective instinct narrows your focus while unlocking hidden capacity normally restrained by our biology to keep us safe. It is the same thing as hysterical strength
@@MetalMadness_00 his dad was a pretty tough guy, so he probably went hunting with him when he was younger. He asked Keller and Julian if they’ve ever went hunting, to see if they can even handle a gun. So I’m assuming Dan did those things.
So hard to hate Dan when you see these scenes! I miss Keith forever and won't forget what Dan did but he is trying to atone for his si! These are pretty selfless moves he is making.
By the way, did you know that the actress who play Nathan's mother Deb have a child. She played young Amanda Clarke in Revenge and will portray one of the characters in the new Gossip Girl reboot.
Dan was never a bad guy he always wanted the best for Nathan and he killed Keith cus sleuth was going to kill him and thought he did the fire and he slept with Deb
The Joker, Dan was a bad guy for the first five seasons of this show, but he decided to make a change and for guys like him it takes years to change. Years of selfless acts to really do a complete 180.
I remembered first watching this scene, and the first song that came in my head was “Down with the Sickness” by Disturbed. Kinda wish there was a little more of a badass song for this scene while Dan was tearing shit up.
Lmao he killed his brother, slandered his kids his exs everyone who's his been involved with has been hurt in some way bit because he rescued his some he all of a sudden dsnt deserve to die?? Wtf??
Can't tell which was more ridiculous.... The one hand pump on the shotty or the double finger on the trigger of the 9mm with the bad guy after he shoots the chair guy lol.
Wait wait wait I never had any idea this show involved shotgun politics. Why didn’t I know this until now? At the very least this raises my opinion of the show by 5000%
Just my thought but as soon as Dan shot keith his concious got the better to him.. he tried to make amends until Abby saw him kill keith and tried to silence her but deep down he wouldn't have killed her..
Just doesn't feel right that Lucas didn't help rescue him. Though, I don't think Dan, Deb, or Haley would've allowed him to help. I mean, his one sons already endanger, he wouldn't want his other one to be in danger too.
To everyone saying what happened to this show… oh sorry boohoo it didn’t end with some cheesy romance, they went out with a bang, how memorable will Dan Scott be after this… man o man…
Malheureusement pour ils ont kidnappé Nathan Scott qui est le fils de dan je sais pas s'il savait qui était dans Scott parce que quand on s'en prend à sa dan on regrette toujours
No...it was about 2 brothers who were brought together by basketball and the lives of them and their friends. First arc all bout Lucas, but when he left the show they focused on Nathan and Dan.
