Funny thing is his son said 'no', even though in Polish (native to the game/novel) language the word wiedźmin (witcher) literally derives from wiedźma (witch).

@@kubacakagoomba But the history behind the witches involves rituals, subversion against the church rules and it's more relatable with the woman figure. Is very distinct from a mutant who kill monsters - which have more male features accord to the general culture of our society.

@@AnswerDoesNotExist From what I remember witchers were called witchers because of their magic capabilties (magic signs, potions etc.) which are associated with witches powers, so I'm almost sure that the word 'witcher' originally comes from the 'witch' word (as it is in polish - 1:1 translation). I'm quite sure that I read it in one of Sapkowski's books. :)

Male Witches are called Warlocks. Witchers use magic and are men. They make and drink potions that are poisonous to anybody who isn't them. They're shunned from society perceived as evil/heartless by a majority. And Geralt himself is Atheist or Irreligious and isn't afraid to mock or dismiss the church/religious. Honestly yes they're akin to Witches and Witch-Hunters(He fights and kills magic users) the only major difference is they're mutated and are meant (but not always follow) to only kill monsters.

@Emperor Palpatine So the trailer tells us about the commission for a monster sucking blood from children. It takes place a few years after the plot of the game. Interesting. In the trailer we see two cities. Novigrad is at the beginning, but later ... Geralt is not going to Beuclair. This is also not Novigrad. It suits me a different city, just now I don't remember the names. I will write if I find it. It's probably Gors Velen (probably theory of RaptorPL)

@Geralt of Rivia The fun part is this is the trailer for the main game and blood and wine is the last dlc :) so they had the whole story already there even before the dlc or the main game was released.

yeah, it basically poison's the witcher's blood, so if they get wounded or their blood somehow comes in contact with necrophages or vampires they're hurt by it.

@Emperor Palpatine The creator of the show tried to avoid the liberals as much as she could though. The liberals and liberal critics would've had bashed the show if they didn't incluce some inter racial characters. We're lucky they only managed to change two character. But for me Yennefer's actress, Anya Chalotra's acting made up for her appearance. Fringilla was awful though. Geralt sleeps with her in the book because she reminds her of Yennefer. Idk how that'll turn out

2:19 actually the potion he drinks is not "to increase his senses", but to make his blood corrosive (notice it when the drop gets to get gound?) for vampire bites. It's called "black blood" in the game.

Turns out both are ok. One's said in American English (specialty), the other in British English (speciality), latter one used in medical field as well.

Kinda hard for a critically acclaimed game to not get love after so long. Just look at Zelda, Mario, Half Life, and Portal. Still getting showered in praise, and yet the last two games aren't even getting sequals.

It’s black blood that Geralt drank, he’s fighting a bruxae so I’m guessing that’s the potion he drank. Plus the blood that dripped from his nose started reacting the dirt on the ground like his blood turned into acid.

Snazzy Jovial Wyrm might be. The only real difference between alps and bruxae is that alps can transform into living fog, but not entire invisible. So I’m pretty sure the monster in this trailer is a bruxa.

The monster was called a Bruxa. It's basically a type of vampire, very dangerous, very strong, very very hard to kill. That's why in the cinematic she even states in days past no amount of coin would convince a Witcher to take this contract. Also the potion he drank before the fight started is called a Black Blood potion if I'm remembering the correct name. It turned his blood to acid which she then drank his blood which in turn caused the damage to her to come from the inside allowing him to actually damage and kill her.

The potion has been talked about a lot, but the hints are that when they zoom in on the droplet of blood, it starts turning black and when it hits the dirt, it sizzles like its burning through it. Hence the name Black Blood. Someone mentioned that hey may have taken Cat as well, which makes him see in the dark better. I don't believe he does. We don't see him take it, and then the zoom in on his eyes after he takes the black blood show miosis or contraction of the pupils rather than them dilating, since the best description of Cat is that it allows more light to enter your eyes so you can see in the dark.

It's a blend between the game geralt and the stunt actor who did the mocap and acting. Makes it easier to transform the expressions from the actor to the cg character.

I think it was one of the potions that make your blood more toxic to vampiric creatures. That's why they showed the blood drop fall on the ground and evaporate, to signal to the viewers that his blood isn't normal. I think in-game wise, the potion makes so that when a vampiric creature attacks you, it also gets damaged. It was a long time I played, so my memory is a little bit shaken.

2:10 that would be the black blood potion since the woman is actually a bruxa which is a type of vampire and as you can see in the cinematic his blood turns acidic so that when the bruxa tries to drink his blood she takes damage . there are potions that aid with almost any incounter in this game .ps : your welcome. but it could also just be the cat potion. not entierly sure since he got the eyes of a cat .

He drank black blood at the start, this turns his blood into a form of poison for monsters who feast on blood, as shown by the acid like reaction to the ground when the blood drip fell from his nose. quote: "In the distant past, mages working with witchers developed this potion specifically for use in fighting cemetery and crypt dwellers that drink the blood or eat the innards of their still living victims. Witchers use Black Blood unwillingly because the potion only works when a monster begins to feast on their body. Their transmuted blood proves to be a deadly drink."

That was black blood. It doesn't increase your senses, it makes your blood poisonous to necrophages. (if you're a Witcher. Witcher potions are usually fatal the people who are not witchers) ( necrophages are physical Undead like zombies, ghouls, alghouls, drowners and whatever this monster was)

The potion he used was black blood. It makes his blood highly toxic to ghouls and vamps so if they bite him they also will be hurt. It had nothing to do aikth increasing his senses. Also she wasnt human at all she was a bruxea which is a sub species of vampire.
