This is my Favorite trimmer I have ever used by far! I just wanted to make sure I did an updated video, as my original video was geared towards crafters. I hope this will help anyone who is looking for a fantastic trimmer!
Here is a link to where you can get the trimmer as well as additional parts for a good price:

Hello, Deanna! What great, closeup shots of this trimmer in action! It's so nice for people to be able to see the machine up close and personal like that. The close shot of the self-sharpening blade along with your description of what it is and what it does is so helpful. Nothing beats having a blade that keeps itself razor sharp. That's one of the coolest things about Dahle paper trimmers. :D Awesome video review and demo!

I think I may have been the first person to ask about the paper cutter. I did purchase one. I am not a professional, but I have used this cutter enough to warrant purchase of it. It was a really good decision. I absolutely love this tool. It just drove me crazy when my cuts were off. I was obviously obsessive about this. I had another basic crafter's trimmer. It drove me crazy trying to get straight cuts for cards. It is a pricey cutter, but it was a good investment, since it was bothering me so much to have cuts that were off. I think I have only used it about 40 times, but just love it. I don't know if you remember my other question or not, but I also asked about the printer. You said you had just purchased a new one and gave me the info about the printer. I also purchased the printer you suggested. I had the printer about 2 months, and have just set it up today. Obviously I do not use a printer very much, but I purchased it for printing cardstock . Well here I am again for a question. I did not run any cardstock through it yet, but I wanted to know if you could let me know what weight I can run through it? Any help would be much appreciated. You were so kind in helping me out about the trimmer and purchase of the printer. Thanks ever so much.

+jlw Hey good to hear from you again!!! To answer your question, I have run up to 110 lb cardstock through my printer with no issues at all! I think you could use an even heaver cardstock if you wished, but not certain as I have not tried. I am so glad you are enjoying your new cutter! :D So good to hear that!

Thank you so much for help. 110# would be the heaviest I would run, But probably mostly 80# Nina Solar White. I did not want to run before I had a chance to run this by you. I do check back here periodically to see what you have posted. You could have knocked me over when I checked here the day I set up the printer and saw the cutter video added. You are so sweet and kind. Thank you again. Will be using printer for my St. Patrick's day cards. Should have set up printer sooner, it would have been helpful with the Valentine cards.

+jlw Oh how exciting :D! I think it's wonderful that you are going to make your St. Patrick's day cards with your new printer! I will say this, I find if you choose best quality when printing, the prints really look a LOT better then if you keep it at the preset mode. I am so glad to hear you check from time to time to see if I have anything new :D! I am working on some things so that I can put out more videos this year, so hopefully you will see me around more often :D! Have a fantastic day!

Terrific video! I'm glad the Dahle trimmer works so great for you. I think finding the right trimmer is key to paper crafting. I also agree with you that professional trimmers are definitely the way to go. In the long run they not only work wonderful , but they save you money in not having to repurchase another one anytime some. I've had my professional trimmer for nearly 10 yrs and I love it too! May I share with you what I have? I asked my dh whose in the printing industry what he'd recommend after I sent back a popular trimmer that I had waited on for nearly a year for functioning and safety issues. He recommended the Rotatrim trimmer. After researching it for safety around children and accuracy; I purchased the Rotatrim Professional M12 and I love it. Its similar to yours in size and style. Mine does have a double rail to support the self sharpening blade and its cover and it does cut heavy weight paper. Like you, I needed a trimmer that could cut through stacks of paper, but I also needed to be able to cut really thick chipboard and textured papers. The price tag is hefty, but it doesn't need a replacement blade. Thanks for letting me share my trimmer with you and once again thanks for the video on yours.

+amb7412 Wow, it's so great to hear of another trimmer that can hold up to such over use hehe! Thank you so much for sharing! It's so fun to hear of another crafter that needs one serious trimmer ;)! That was a great idea to ask someone in the actual printing industry what they recommend! Thank you again for sharing, it's always good to have options out there!

So nice to see you again. You look so well. Can you get this cutter in the uk ? I have tried many different cutters but this on looks very accurate. Take care.

+Melanie Henshaw Thank you SO much Melanie :D!!! It's so nice to hear from you again! I did a quick search and found it here, not sure if there is a better price: officemachines.net/trimmers/trimmer.asp?id=106&c=DAHLE-550-Professional-A4-Trimmer but I hope that helps :D!

Hi Deanna! I just purchased the 550 and can't wait to receive it I have a question about the markings coming off the face of the cutter. Do you think I could use a thin coating of Modge Podge to keep the markings on the faceplate? I've spent a lot of money on the cutter and don't want the markings to go away. Any advice would be very helpful
@DeannasCraftRoom
@DeannasCraftRoom 7 лет назад
Congratulations! I hope you LOVE yours as much as I do mine!!! I have never used modge podge before, so that sounds like a good idea, but I don't really know if it would stick on the metal! You could try it on a corner edge just to test if you want to. I feel the same way about the markings!!! I know the company said they would be looking to improve that, however I don't know if they have or not. I hope your version is a newer and updated one! My ruler is still on the edge and that is all I use for the markings and that is after a lot of years, so hopefully you wont find yours coming off!

I've been missing your videos! I came across this old one and had a question that may seem silly. How do you go from an overhead shot toy full on view shot with your camera? Do you have a two camera set up?
@DeannasCraftRoom
@DeannasCraftRoom 7 лет назад
How sweet of you! Actually that is a great question about the camera set up, and yes, I have one in the front and then I have one that I have hanging from the ceiling using a clamp tripod sort of thing. I have them both recording at the same time, and then when editing I switch from the two.

Deanna, I saw another video on RU-vid where the lady contacted Dahle regarding the surface printout wearing away and she was sent a new one due to that. You may want to contact Dahle, you never know. Thanks for the review update. Still trying to decide if I need something like this or just a smaller basic cutter since I am just starting to do personal projects.
@DeannasCraftRoom
@DeannasCraftRoom 7 лет назад
Hey Thanks Michael!!! That's great to know! If you don't do too many projects a smaller one may be all you need, you may want to try a cheaper one for now, and if you end up wanting to do a lot more you can always get a new cutter at that point! Thank you again so much for letting me know about Dahle. :D
@mikeguillory8996

Good point Deanna, for now I just bought a cutting mat and a better ruler, already had the cutting blades. If I end up doing more projects I will upgrade to a good cutter like this one you have. I wish that Dahle gave some direction for upkeep like maybe using a clear epoxy spray or something that allows the grid to not wear away. Also wondering about a really thin plastic to stick on the magnets so they glide more than rub to reduce wear.
@DeannasCraftRoom
@DeannasCraftRoom 7 лет назад
I hope that works really great for you! I agree it is a worry that the grid will eventually wear off!!! I hope that they figure a solution for their future cutters! You have some great ideas! I wonder if they would work!

I have a couple questions for you. Will this cutter cut through laminated papers easily? Does it leave a nice, clean edge when cutting through laminated papers? Also, can you see exactly where you'll be cutting by eye? This is for if I don't know exact measurements for certain cuts but would like to see where I need to cut by eye.
@DeannasCraftRoom
@DeannasCraftRoom 7 лет назад
Great questions Jamie! Yes this cutter cuts through laminated papers, and it does leave a nice clean edge, however seeing where you are cutting exactly can be tricky...I find that if I put my cutter in the right lighting, I can see through the paper a bit, and measure that way to see across what I am cutting. If you have a border of the laminated material so you can see through it, it would be easy to line it up at the edge of the metal where you will cut, but if you cut inside so that it is just the paper it could be tricky. I hope that helps, even when not measuring I get a pretty good cut, but not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for. I hope that gives you what you need to know, if not please let me know and I will try to help better :D
