Vicious cold up there today I hear from my kids and family. -70 wind chill in Western, North Dakota in the Bakken oil fields. -30 where I’m from in eastern North Dakota. That’s wind chill. This reminded me of my child hood. We weren't off grid, but we lived on a farm in a 100yr old house with wood heat. We cooked with cast iron, and we baked most of our own stuff. We used to have that same dinner. You just gave me my dinner plans for tomorrow! My only add on- mushrooms! & we sometimes add just a dollop of heavy cream or sour cream. Delish!
