Kyle was away at deer camp for the last hunting weekend so I had a girls night at the homestead and it was so relaxing. I made a spicy cabbage and sausage soup, decorated the decor tree while watching a christmas movie and tidied up the cabin a little bit. Can you believe it’s 11/20. No snow and open water on the lakes. I hope Kyle is getting his deer!! I know a few that have gotten a nice buck but mostly doe so far

I dry our eggshells on an old pie plate in my oven after using it.. then crush the dry shells and add them to the chicken food... helps with their calcium.

Ever considered building a rolling wood rack? You could roll it out to the porch to fill it up & then roll it back inside. Would prevent having to do multiple trips in/out when restocking. And have y’all considered one of those automatic chicken doors that runs off battery & you set the times for it to open & close?

I think our coyotes have choir practice some nights. My closest neighbor is a mile in either direction, so I hate it when I realize that I didn’t close up the chicks and then have to go out in the dark to do it. I run out there and back, becaus3 it’s just so spooky. We have a bobcat that prowls the area, but I don’t worry about it as much as the coyotes. Today, I was out riding the mule through the woods and came upon a baby fawn carcass. Those woods be scary at night.

Balsam Fir can make a fair Christmas tree from around your area. It usually isn't too big around. I've sometimes trimmed the branches that stuck out too far on the tree. Thanks for the video Cierra !

You should have shown us you making the soup. It looks delicious. And those poor chickens need straw in their nesting boxes. They look awful uncomfortable.
