I met Mr. Robertson and his wife (?) at a restaurant on I-80 in Illinois where I was the hostess around 1971 or 72. There were 2 dining rooms, 1 for lunch and breakfast and the other the fancy room for dinners. When they came in I recognized him immediately! He was old enough to be my dad easily (I was 19) but I got weak in the knees ! He was that handsome! The fancy room was closed but I asked him if they would like to be seated there. He gave me that great smile and said that would be fine. I waited on them myself so they wouldn't be bothered. He and his companion were as sweet and nice as could be. He thanked me for seating them there as he was tired from driving so long the day before. He tipped me $50.00! They left and then he came back in and gave me a big bag of oranges. What a nice man! It was a thrill for sure and I still remember it from almost 50 years ago. I had always been a fan of his movies/ Wells Fargo series and I thought even more of him after that. He certainly didn't have to tip me that much and went over and above to bring those oranges back in to me. Sigh...he was THAT handsome!
What a handsome outdoors man, and what a career! Where are men like him, today! Thank you for your contribution to the storytelling in the western genre. I love horses too, and I,m glad that they made you happy and gave you a successful career.
He was a gorgeous baby and remained a handsome man throughout his life, particularly in his Military Years. He and Rory Calhoun were natural, both the most handsome and both so Authentic. They are my 2 picks for what were the STARS of their genre and the business of Movies. They remain the true Authentic energy of "real". Appreciate your works Jerry Skinner. Best Wellneing ...
Elsie Quesenberry Do you get the cable channel GRIT? It is old western movies and tv shows non stop. Other cable channels carry some old movies and shows. RU-vid also has old movies.
Dish Cable - INSP , GRIT Channel, Binge, EWestern Channel. Comcast - INSP, MeTv, TV Land, Channel 524. I no.longer have Comcast becuz Dish is cheaper and Dish has more TV Westerns for example Tombstone Territory, The Texan, Lone Ranger and many more. Hope this helps.
Clint Eastwood in his younger years was good looking with his beautiful head of hair. Conway Twitty had beautiful hair as well. But, by far, Dale Robertson was so good looking with his smile and dimples and the most gorgeous hair in the world!💓
I liked the way he spoke, very unique voice. Like "The Tales of Wells Fargo" reruns and Jim Hardy the star of the show.. Dale Robertson was a fine actor and Horse Rancher..
@@bishlap Welcome to the club, TJ! Just think of Little Joe in his crimplene pants and the main cast members looking like they just walked out of wardrobe. The final straw for me was a ludicrous episode with Adam Cartwright meeting a mediaeval knight with a lance! The scriptwriters should have been publicly humiliated!
I always thought that he was such a good looking man. Loved to watch him in movies and on television. Really nice to find out that he was such an honorable man and a real true gentleman. Sounds like he was a man among men.
Too bad there are not more men out there like him. My aunt knew him in California and liked to say he was part of our Robertson family. Never did find out if it was true or not
Only a few months married, in 1958, my new husband and I traveled to Ruidoso to attend a big quarter horse race at Ruidoso Downs. My father-in-law's horse won the race, and I and Dale Robertson held either end of the blanket announcing the name of the race in front of the winning horse. Cannot think of a more physically handsome man unless it would be my young husband.
I unfortunately never heard of this man until just this year (2021). I was born in 1966 and never got to see his shows. However, thanks to Grit tv I have been very happily watching Tales of Wells Fargo. I have come to like his performances in this show. A nice inviting smile, and a heck of an actor. You will never be forgotten Mr. Robertson. I am so glad I found your shows.
Love the opening on Tales Of Wells Fargo where Dale is racing a Train and throws the Mail sack in the door!!! His horse Jubilee was so excited, but Dale patted Jubilee on the neck and he instantly calmed. Did a small rear at hillside. Fantastic Rider and Man.
Another outstanding story told by you Mr. Skinner, I enjoyed it immensely, this was one of my childhood heroes. Thank you & please keep up the good work for as long as you enjoy it & can!👍👏👏👏👏👏🇺🇸😋
Dale was my favorite horseman of all the cowboy movies. He was truly a gentleman and master rider. I still watch him on reruns every day and admire his portrayal of Jim Hardy. In his fighting scenes, it's obvious that he was a boxer, just by his movements and a extremely good boxer. I sure do miss him and his abundance of talent on and off screen. Thank the Lord for reruns!!!!!!!
Check out Ben Johnson,a true cowboy, love Dale aswell dont get me wrong and that through breed he had was absolutely beautiful, the absolute best though was, h.mmmm can't remember his name but had the lazy wondering left eye,my opinion the best rider of all
Dale Robertson, was a great actor, I loved every one of his films, he was very handsome and had a humble way of expressing himself he showed love to his family and earned respect from others. RIP Mr. Robertson, still watchen Tales Of Wells Fargo, Amen.
As a little girl I loved to watch Wells Fargo and loved Dale Robertson in it...so handsome! Just as a point of interest another favourite actor of mine was Victor Matur, and when the poster for The Flags West came on screen just now, I immediately saw the cowboy on the left, and recognised N uncanny likeness to that actor. But when I trawled through the actors who starred, his name wasn’t there. More research told me that he was originally cast I. It, but at the last minute was replaced by Joseph Cotton, so mystery over! Thankyou for a riveting story....never knew he was a boxer from such a young age, and feel kind of proud to think he won so many of his fights, but very thankful that when he had his nose broken, his opponent “ kindly “obliges by knock it back in place lol. Many thanks...Helen in U.K. 🙋♀️☕️👏🏻👏🏻💕
What a fine gentleman Dale Robertson was. Loved his manners and his principals. I was happy to learn God gave him 19 years after retirement to live and enjoy life. Not many have that gift of life. Thank you once again Jerry Skinner love your videos 💖
Jerry, you are absolutely the best storyteller. You always take everyone for a journey we would otherwise never be able to take. I felt laughter, and sadness and respect for Dale through your words. Dale was a great example of a decent human being that kids today will never know.
Dale Robertson is one of my favorite actors. He just seems like a solid guy. Tales of Wells Fargo is my favorite due to my occupation I was never able to watch one episode but once I found it on the television I watch it whenever I can.
I personal want to thank this man. He brought a true meaning to the word a gentleman. And taught me a thing or two about being a man by his actions and deeds. Thank you sir!
Thank you very much for this documentary. Dale Robertson was my favorite! I watched all the reruns of Tales of Wells Fargo on Grit. Would love to see some of the other series like Iron Horse. It was such fun to watch him ride. I was always moved by how respectful he was of others on the set... he was a true example of courtesy and thoughtfulness. RIP sire.
Dale Robertson, has always been at the forefront of my mind, since being the special agent for wells and fargo, his personality was so gentle, he is top hollywood actor for me. bless him, and his family
I always liked Dale Robertson. I also admire how he and a handful of the old Western stars like Ben Johnson were respectful of women and didn't cotten to all the cussing and the unnecessary exploitation of sex and lewd behavior so associated with main stream Hollywood. Five Stars for your excellent research and well conducted bio of the West's favorite sons Jerry. You are still the best and know that you're appreciated and thank you for your body of work.
Ben Johnson and Slim Pickins are the icons of the era and the genre' of Western Movies. Dale and Rory Calhoun truly also the Authenic energy of their works. The pure real of their oen character can be felt.
Was wondering if Mr. Skinner was going to mention that part of his career (and other western stars) who would do the state fair circuit during their heydays. Remember Dale Robertson singing when he came to New Mexico state fair in the early 60's. Some horse riding, a couple of stunts and if I recall correctly, singing a few songs!
Love his voice, his good looks, the way he carried himself and rode a horse. He also gave what seemed to be an effortless portrayal of the Wells Fargo agent.
I was born and raised in the San Juan mountains of Colorado and been in ranching, cowboy, horse breaking, mule packing and all that goes with it. Mr. Skinner you got a country voice using country words and your videos are so superbly researched and well delivered. I thorough enjoy watching all your videos, and hope you will continue to Chronicle these western actors and their real life stories. Very well done sir!
I watched all the TV shows he was in while I was growing up. I had such a crush on him. He was always so handsome in both his younger and older years. Thanks for this bio Jerry Skinner!
Just to clarify. Dale died on 26 Feb 2013! His wife has confirmed this with me. Thank you so much Jerry for a wonderful video about Dale. He was a wonderful man and I'm so proud that I knew him and found that he was exactly the sort of person I always hoped he would be. He loved his fans and was so happy to tell them stories.
I love Dale I watch his shows everyday he was huge and great hero for me . I wish I could of met him I am still trying to buy a hat just like his - love hm forever he is the best - architect jamie margulies
Hi Jerry dam good video of Dale Robertson ive watched all the wells Fargo westerns and couple of westerns movies but didn't know of the rest the shows he played in. My compliments sir
Great job Jerry. Dale always seemed like a wonderful man and your documentary validates my opinion. He was the greatest horseman ever on any western. We need more Dale Robertsons today!
Jerry Skinner that was so well researched, and your narration is incredible. I sure am glad I found your channel. Your videos are absolutely mesmerizing, this is coming from a guy who has NO ATTENTION SPAN.
Thank you Mr Skinner, as always Loved the story. I never get tired listening to your voice. I hope and pray for many more years to come, we will hear many more story from you. Keep up the great work Mr. Skinner. Greetings from Oklahoma !
at 74, I am watching all the episodes of Dale Robinson and Tales of Wells Fargo. A very respected man, we don't see this in movies and TV shows anymore. Its time we did...a man's man, and a great guy. can't beat that.
You have such a captivating voice Sir. I do not know all the people you talk about but you make it a pleasure to listen to your stories of famous peoples lives. Thank you Sir
You do a great job on these videos. Thank you as a movie and TV fan. I liked Dale Robertson and appreciate the job you did in the voice over on this video.
Had the biggest crush on this man - always a gentleman- I often wondered way he walked with a slight limp - thought he had a bad back and wore a back brace - thank you for the info on his war wounds - but nothing took away from his manhood ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I watched it in late 50 and 60 and on Grit tv 2020 and still the best Western of all to me I was a member of his fan club and I have all kind of pic he sent me all he autographed
Watched his movies as a kid, and all the tv shows through to the end. He had class and always was the good guy. He truly was. 89 isn’t bad for a self-stunting actor in westerns and surviving WWII. From this bio I can understand why I always enjoyed in everything I saw. Would’ve been a pleasure to meet him, and ride with him in OK.
I watch a lot of westerns I always wondered who he was because he wasn’t as well-known as like Dan Blocker thanks for the background I always kind of figured he loved horses because The way he worked with them on screen.
Thank you Mr. Skinner for this documentary on Dale Robertson. I always liked him and always felt he was such a good actor. I couldn’t figure out why they canceled his show “J.J. Starbuck”. My husband, mother and myself just loved that show. We also loved “Tales of Wells Fargo” , well quite honestly I can’t think of anything we watched him in we didn’t like. They just don’t make em like him anymore 😊. Thank you again, God Bless...
I loved this guy I could feel he was a good guy. I loved the way he talked. Wish I could see some of his movies. I don’t find a lot of good stars anymore. None as good as the older one.
Loved Dale's acting interpretation in roles. Have always wondered why his intros on Death Valley Days was so uncharacteristic representing his actual persona
I really enjoy watching these videos. They are entertaining, informative and interesting. They allow us to relive memories of favorite actors and entertainers no longer with us, bringing back many memories. Thank you for making them!!!!
