I really wish that Pam, Bobby and Christopher had left Dallas together, with Bobby branching out on his own, possibly over in Europe or down in South America. That could've given Patrick Duffy more chances for other roles and if things didn't work out then he could return in another season and explain that he and Pam had separated during her recovery, but were trying to work things out for Christopher's sake. He could've sparred intensely with JR for a season and then left to see Pam and Christopher, with scattered appearances throughout the remainder of the show. Victoria Principal might have agreed to that kind of arrangement also, but the producers apparently had an all or nothing mentality, so she walked, throwing the equilibrium of Dallas off (although it hadn't really been the same since the loss of Jock in my opinion).
Victoria Principal told the producers in 1985 that she wanted to leave in 1987. They should have respected Victoria's wishes and have Pam die. Also have a beautiful funeral service for Pam with flash back episodes of Pam. Victoria had no desire to return to Dallas after the Spring of 1987. So, keeping her character alive in the remainder part of the series was a very stupid thing to do.
Producers were in a tough spot when Victoria left. They didn't want to kill her off or recast (Bobby "dying" and the Donna Reed debacle). Really the best option would've been to have Pam leave Bobby with Christopher. But they just reunited the two so they decided to have her leave Dallas to heal and have surgery by herself. I can almost stomach this but Bobby not looking for her was insulting to viewers.
@@MrCraigblaze VP close the door of DALLAS in 1987. I think she never looked one episode after she left especially after the way the producers provoked her. 😢
Is there a clip of her leaving a note for Bobby? I can't seem to find it, & it was right after Pam saw herself for the 1st time since the accident- Her doctor wanted her to be by herself when they would take off some of the bandages. I remember it.
@@southernbelle6108 in season 11 Cliff is reunited with his sister again but she says she divorced Bobby and loves Christopher with all her heart but she wants to live with her surgeon in Canada. That is her new life and even says to Cliff to forget he had a sister. Cliff departs in confusion . When Cliff is gone the surgeon asks Pam why she didn't tell the truth. She says :" they lost me once how can I go back knowing I got a couple of months to live?" (Pancreas cancer)
