When you mentioned that there are many specific earplugs it reminded me that I own "partial" (?) earplugs. They only block some of the sound to help individuals who are sound or stimulation-sensitive like those with ASD (like me). I haven't used them to sleep but I do know they have gotten me through shopping through 2 holiday seasons lol.

The shattered glass of the I-M8 brings me back to my middle/high school days when smart phones were still pretty new but widespread enough to be in the hands of dumb teenagers that didn't know how to look after electronics. As a result, it was incredibly common for kids to be walking around with screens that were just completely shattered. The phones still worked in most cases, they would just have ugly cracks across the face so everyone would just keep using them. It was so common that they'd compare how damaged their screens were able to get and continue functioning. I feel like phone screen repair places were also more common back then too. I don't know if this is still common and I don't see it anymore, or if they've made phone screens more durable, or if people have just finally caught on that they should be proactive about keeping their phone screen in one piece. Either way, interesting. High school isn't really something that I think about a lot, but it is interesting that it was the last time I can recall seeing someone using a phone with a cracked screen. Anyway, uh, thanks for that blast from the past? Man, its been almost ten years since I graduated.

Bernard Purdie is a legend. He would play the venue I worked at in my early 20s and would always ask for soup that was too hot. It was terrible how few people would come out to see him play but it was a small town venue

Just for reference 2007 was right before the 2008 recession in the US that's why so many things are produced then, still ridding the high! This also started the transition to the digital dark ages of anime.

I tried silaflex 2 silicone earplugs once. Thought id be slick and cut one in half because they seemed so large. I learned they were large for a reason 😅 I had to have one removed by a nurse the next day. It " melted" for pack of a better term while i slept that night 😅 Never used them again.

Ooh, I never noticed how iridescent and pearlescent Frank is before that Long Form Frank segment! 🥺 I also wonder if she tries the other side because it’s in the shade…? If she had an extra door would she prefer that side? Would she roam around her terrarium more if she had that extra door?

I had this same issue, and it wasn't an airplane but tinnitus, so I needed some sound playing to distract me from it. I found that single Bluetooth earpieces were enough with my other ear on the pillow. The single one plays for 10 hours. I had to do this because I had extreme sensitivity when laying on headphones.

The Polaroid SX70 segment reminded me of the Polaroid 600 instant-film camera I have. It came with a second device, the Polaroid 600 Plus radio. The radio can be powered by "AA!" batteries or by the remaining battery power in a used film cartridge.

The older I get, the deeper my appreciation becomes for retro tech becomes. In the ever increasing e-waste world we live in, it’s becoming more and more refreshing to see people not just collect old tech simply to say they have it but use it and discover the cliche that just because something’s old, doesn’t mean it useless.
