Martin Langan is correct: After the first round of kills (the 4 small golems on the tanks and on 2 non-tanks), there will be 6 golems left up, not 8. A minor error. The instruction to later kill 3 critically damaged small golems is still correct, bringing the total to 9 golems = 36 anima in the Massive. My only question is whether Critically Damaged golems are even killable - a raid member said they were not, and we proceeded accordingly. It's been 2 patches since this video, so I'm not sure if it's out of date. (If you don't kill any Critically Damaged golems, you want to kill 9 active Smalls into the Massive, and a 10th to activate Dark Animus. This leaves only 2 that need to be killed into Critically Damaged Larges a.k.a. "Batteries". One tank should do this with his/her 2 Smalls, then taunt a Small from the other tank and kill it into the Massive. Tanks can then systematically pull off other players and kill their Smalls into the Massive until only 1 is left, which is used to wake up the boss.)

It has changed since Cata and is no longer something to worry about. The DoT ticks from each ES no longer overlap with each other and are instead added on to the previous one :)

Upvote this like crazy. Unless I'm missing something, this is basically it. You can copy/paste this into raid chat and DA will be the shortest boss you spend time on in ToT.

The skin is from a paladin CD that when you have it active it shows that skin, when it's over it goes back to the original skin.

I just crunched those numbers myself as well as timing how long between siphon ticks. Your way provides only 6 seconds w/o that super easy anima ring mechanic. Fun fact though: No matter how you split up the anima when you pull the boss (with the exception of pulling a second massive), you will always get jolt after 11 ticks.

Hey fatboss. The massive ones can hold 36 on live, 32 was on PTR :) And you can simplify this fight a lot by just filling 9 anima golems in to a missive one straight away. Then fill the last 3 in the boss and zerg him down :D He has like 80m HP and falls over before he gets 100 anima pretty easily.

If you are for any reason struggling with anima ring you can just have your dps take all the balls since they are likely never going to get hit by melee so it doesnt matter if they take 300% increased damage from melee.

@stephen mccann is that viable to leap of faith the tank out. wont he get hit by any surrounding orbs?

I must ask, the tanking part. The paladin tank, where there any dps on your golems or did you kill them using vengance?

Probably not the first time this has been asked, but those nameplates in the hunter pov, which addon would that be? It looks quite practical.

Just a question - if each tank holds two smaller gollums, and transfer their respective anima to their respective crit dmg large animus golum there wil b 8 smaller live ones, then plus the two dps small anima gollums dumping their anima in one crit dmg large - that leaves six live ones not 8 as u mention in the video? Or am i understanding smthn wrong?

i got a question. u guys said there are 12 active small anima golems. when u start the fight. the 2 tanks get their 2 small golems in 2 critical dmged big golems. 2 other guys put their 2 guys in the 3rd dmged big golem. is it just me or are there 6 small golems left instead of 8 as u guys said? ty in advance for your answer

Whats the name of the addon you use for your Spells and attacks? (for keybinding)

There's nothing confusing about it. The debuff does dmg in only 2 ways: when dispelled, or when it runs out its full 10 second duration. It links the debuffed player, P1, with the person FURTHEST in distance from him, P2. If dispelled with 10 seconds left (aka, as soon as it's applied), it'll do 100% of its damage to P1, and 0% to P2, effectively 1-shotting P1. If it reaches 0 sec (aka, it runs out), it'll do 100% dmg to P2, 0% to P1, 1-shotting P2. Dispell at 5 seconds for 50/50 dmg.

I understood it completely, you need to rewatch it to understand it if you got confused. It's also best to only focus on 1 role at a time each time through. This guide can't be any simpler, simply because this boss is a clusterfuck of mechanics and they explained the only 2 ways to do it. Strong dps way and the not so strong dps way.

Better yet - put 2 in a critically damaged larger golem, 9 as you said in 1 massive and 1 in the boss. So the boss has 4, 19, 34, 49, 64, 66, 68, 70, 72, 73, 74, 75, etc anima. Instead of 12, 26, 40, 54, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, etc. Not a huge difference, but you'll have to deal with anima ring and the raid damage a few seconds / 1 siphon later. Doesn't change when the jolt will occur.

Do I miss something? soo there are 12 active one's, each tank, dumps 2 of them into large criticly one thats arlready rid of 4 and also 2 dps dumps theirs into one, thats 12 - 6 (2tanks = 4 and 2dps = 2) is 6 right not 8 as he said?

Yea I did the fight last week sometime and I found myself with my pet on passive for the most part, almost up until it was only the Dark Animus left. Now were on Lei Shen and some people in the group are failing and it hurts where my feelings should be :-/

In LFR the anima when one is killed is transferred to a random golem instead of the closest so that makes it a million times easier.

There would be 6 active small anima golems being tanked (not 8), 13 critically damaged small anima golems & 3 critically damaged large anima golems. Hope this helps someone.

hunters can save alot of mana for healers here. i had add on pet in tank spec( no healer mana at all) one on me, one you bounce between yourself and tank with distract shot and taunt and dps 4th. bit micro manage but not a single add gets buffed that way. just remember to switch pet to dps one on boss phase and u just became MvP

I expect a Monk Brewmaster could escape the orb ring by using Transcendance as well. I doubt a Warrior could Heroic Leap out or be Lifegripped, since the angle would probably mean you hit an orb. Same with Goblin Rocketboots.

I'm always ready for hard encounters for LFR. I hate facerolling bosses but this one might be impossible for LFR... Oh well. My guild should be hitting him this or next weeks so I'll beat him one way or another.

Can you kill all adds before the boss, so he doesnt get any ANIMA!

Kill all the golems away from each other so you end up with one big golem, and the boss (dark animus). -Then kill the boss. Run into one of the orbs at the circle of orbs that is around some players, and don't attack when he does his jolt.

I wasn't talking about interrupting jolt, but about anima font and altough this seems easy enough to avoid there will always be players hit by it and in combination with matter swap this can get nasty. It's just one siphon but still, better save than sorry...

judging from the dungeon journal the fight on lfr has nothing to do with anima and he also doesn't have a raid wipe ability on lfr so its probably going to be a joke ( also the boss just activates after 1 minute )

They do videos of all bosses normal and heroic, and they probably made this one as soon as they were learning the boss. Give em some slack.

because assist makes you loose DPS when there's more than 1 target, since your pet will be swapping from target to target instead DPSing one. It's better to have a pet on passive and manually set him a target and manually force swaps for better control over it and thus your overall DPS.

From a tanking perspective this guide has sort of managed to explain it, but I had to wait 6mins into the video to wait for an explanation of what the anima is and why golems are being killed. Generally would prefer an explanation from the pull to the kill. Other than that I love your guides.

At no point he said he would stack the adds. He said you should charge only one Massive Anima Golem and rest in the boss. This should of course be done carefully and one golem at a time.

Just curious about the hunter, why is he blowing both explosive shots in a row. Isn't he losing a tick on explosive shot? When he gets lock and loud should he not Explosive shot (filler) Explosive shot (filler) Explosive shot? That's how it was in 4.3 and I don't think it changed. If it did then sorry for not playing my hunter anymore xD

So basically, pull it with 2 golems on each tank and 1 golem on each dps/healer. assign 1 tank and 1 dps as Group 2. Whoever has the golem nearest the Massive at the back left kills their add, and the tank picks the Massive up, then you get all of "group 1" to basically stand next to the Massive and kill their golems off. Do not dps the massive. Then group 2 kill their adds next to the boss, nuke the boss down, ignore the massive, GG.

Why tha hell are people complaining about how long this instructional video is? Would they rather an instructional video with no explanation?

As you think about it, there is a simple way to nerf this. Maybe in LFR Anima will be jumping not to the nearest, but to the optimal golem, and people will just worry about other mechanics than Graph Theory.

Once they are given an Enima, they will become active...
