Dark Souls is a series that I think will forever stay with me. I wish I could shake every single person's hand who had worked on these games. This truly is a title that will be remembered. And the same goes for our community. The challange runners, PvP-ers, Lore fanatics ...etc, who had provided me with hours upon hours of content throughout the years.
This video serves as a tribute and in it I've tried to re-create my very first playthrough of the game (of course we didn't have DLCs back then), and I have given it the title "Humanity" because I'm just fascinated with the lore surrounding the nature of humanity, the phantoms, the undead, and so on.

@CLOSED I know its been a year but, the way I interpreted it is, Gael found the Pygmy Kings but, their blood has dried up. It was not possible to make pigments out of them. So he now needs to take in the Dark Soul unto himself, to enable once again the possibility of making a pigment. But he knows he will go Mad in the process, and so he Guided the Unkindled to the same place, the ringed city. Remember that it was Gael pointing us to the right direction, leading the way to the Ringed City. He made his bet, he made his sacrifice. For the chance of a better painted world. A small hope of a better future. A cold, dark, and very gentle place.

@@vajraentite133 I realize this is an old comment, but paint could be made from dried blood. Paints often include a dry color pigment added to something such as gum arabic (binding agent) and distilled water mixed with honey or glycerin (this would make a watercolor paint).

I saw a memory restored, an old tale respun. I thought to hear one last time the fabrication of the great Artorias the Abysswalker, then to walk away satisfied. However at tales end, I saw a new path illuminated, and it led me here. So I’ll sit at this bonfire awhile to await what shall rise from these ashes. Whilst beset by the Abyss, on verge of Hollowing from doubt and despair, oh Storyteller. It is the music of stories which keeps Humanity whole. Vaati told such wonderous tales, and ‘twas such that sent me here. So here I shall stay, hungering for that which you have to share.

As much as people will disagree with me about this, I always say this much. Dark Souls 3 knew exactly what it was and it worked so well. Maybe even better than any other game in the franchise.

Dark souls 1 whas my first souls game, I still need to finish it, I finish dark souls 3, and tho is true the 3 has a better gameplay overall I can't say is 100% than the first dark souls, still after much playing I can't say that I like 1 more than 3, I love both in their own way, foults and all.

That last bit was absolutely haunting, but in the most perfect way. I just love how you show the journey of the Chosen Undead/Bearer of the Curse/Ashen One in your fan films, how far they've come and how much they had to sacrifice along the way. Dope as heck, thought I'm a bit sad you didn't include giving Blood of the Dark Soul to the painter. At first glance it may seem like an afterthought of both DLCs but I think it's one of the most meaningful things we ever did in this franchise.

To folk that havnt played any of the series this is just another nice looking video, but to those of us who took the journey, whether we started at the beginning with Demon Souls, or jumped on board at the very end with Dark Souls 3, this video means so much more. Its the collective experiences of perhaps hundreds of thousands of souls... of humanities, just like yours. And what a journey it has been. ♥

Dark Souls puts to death the argument that video games cannot be art. It's the most beautiful game ever created (DS3) in my opinion. I can't imagine how much work it took to make this astounding tribute. Why it doesn't have over a million views is bewildering and dishearting. Also, this video could be used by FromSoft for marketing. Thank you for making it and freely sharing it!.

Glad to see these still have some returning viewers, haha. Despite it's technical flaws I still enjoy this quite a bit myself, plus this video in essence kickstarted the whole channel. I don't plan on doing anything with Elden Ring. It was a great game to play through but its story and characters failed to grab me in any meaningful way.

Over a year ago, I fell in love with this video. While I believe your editing prowess has improved, this will remain in my eyes your finest work. Its isolation, sadness and melancholy make it truly special. The way the droning and creepy music perfectly mirror the image of a decayed world that struggled to its final breath and now only desires release... the chills I get during Ariandel's scream... the rhythmic, deliberate, slow, careful movements around everything needed to tell a story to people who have both played and not played the game... the desire to see literally just one thing go well for anyone in this mortifying universe... you captured all of this perfectly and I will keep watching this goddamn masterpiece at every chance I get.

The Souls games are known mostly for their difficulty, but they're also some of the most visually stunning games I've ever played. I think after multiple playthroughs its easy to take this for granted, but seeing it from a different perspective really reminded me just how beautiful this series is.

Oh wow. As soon as I heard the Kings Field music it took me back to those days. This is a truly well done cinematic, Parry. You've outdone yourself on this one. The added reverb in the dialogue clips really enhanced the feel of the movie, as well as the visual effects that kept it dark and compressed. Excellent work!

Speeding up and slowing down some of the animations looked great! Soul of cinder pulling out the sword at a different speed looked great! Sums up the game beautifully, and the lighting was amazing as well. Really the only issues I have are the music gets bit repetitive (but I still loved it), and you changed your look suddenly at 14:13. I just thought it was odd, is all. I loved the voice lines in the background as well.

These games are so deep, it makes you wonder what kind of a mind Myazaki has. I pride myself in being a creative person, but to mastermind such a gorgeous piece that drives so many people to explore it to it's fullest extent, study it, live it. It must be amazing. I think that these three games are a milestone of my love for this kind of storytelling. And I think that if someone could sit down with him and tell him that it makes fiscal and emotional sense to make us just ONE more, so that we can enjoy it all over again and explore one more time, maybe he would do it.

Some of the biggest dark souls content creators praise ur work and with good enough reason. You know that feeling "nothingness" and "meaningless" when you watch those size comparison videos of the Universe? It's videos like this that make us fall in love with the souls series all over again. By re-telling your first playthrough you gave us the chance to experience our own once again. So thank you for giving us the chance to re-live those sweet memories, and I cannot wait for your next masterpiece. (Food for thought: maybe try adding just the tiniest bit of combat. Just one good shot of the player character swinging would help evoke that sense of reliving dark souls for the first time)

The thing I always loved about dark souls is just the vibe of it, it reminds me of a playable dungeons and dragons almost and never holds your hand, your on your own journey into hell, even when the odds are against you you must find a way to prosper even if it means dying hundreds of times This is what a game should always be like

Every time I rewatch your dark souls short films they leave me so touched. I get goosebumps and I'm so invested in what I'm seeing. The music fits wonderfully and I love the slow...panning and then fast shift into the movement or next shot. I feel the same intense emotions watching this now, as I did when I first saw it.

This is an excellently edited video. All of your timing cuts are perfection, and your tweaking on the lighting was really satisfying. I will say that when you're making a video that's longer than 5 minutes, it's best to try to change up the music somewhat to keep everything fresh and new. For example, when Father Ariandel let out his scream, I anticipated a shift in tone, but the same music came back. I apologize if me saying that comes off as rude, I dont mean it to be. This video was VERY well done. You have a great eye for cinematics. I just mean music can be just as important as footage. Keep up the great work. You're gonna be big in no time.

I wish I could see how many times ive watched this video, always listen to it when I want to remanence on my past or remember someone. You do great work in helping me recall my years of playing ds3 and the things it helped me escape from. Thank you, and a fine Dark Soul to you.

I have never played Darksouls. A friend of mine told me about parts of the lore, he is big fan. Yesterday he showed me this video. Since then, I have watched it at least four times. It's incredibly inspiring and fascinating, and the music and pictures set the tone so beautifully dark. Thank you!!

This is aswsome in almost every way. The music, the visuals, the talking bits, the slow motion. Really atmospheric. The only thing that - in my oppinion - could have been added, is a scene like the one of Yhorm for every boss. A scene that makes it clear, that they fought and that the villain eventually dies. The way it's in the video seems a bit like "ok, so what about that cool looking boss from a few seconds ago? Where are we now?". The only other thing would be a scene after each lord of cinder, where you see the ashen one deliver the heads to the throne. But that's just my opinion. Other than that, everything is perfect!

What a beautiful work. I just finished DS3 (and therefore the series) and it feels like a long hard journey is over. This video made me relive some of it, or better, feel again like being on the trip.

I think this captures exactly what I've always loved about the Dark Souls series. There is just a true depth to the world that exceeds everything that tries to copy it, making every action you take seem real and impactful, with the people and creatures you meet having an aura of actual power instead of just a health bar on a screen. Amazing job.

This was simply amazing. A real journey to take in my eyes. The music and visuals fit so well together, showing the whole adventure so simply yet so wonderfully. I've been placed in a state of wonder and admiration by this short-film - amazing camerawork/cinematography in this video.You just feel immersed by the atmosphere and ambience. I cannot praise this enough.
