#tauempire #warhammer40k #darkstrider #tactics Darkstrider is an important T'au character and crazy on the table top! If you feel like supporting please do: patreon.com/CommanderNearsigh...
Tiny, tiny note that is really not a big deal but just in case someone checks, it is worth noting that for some reason, Darkstrider's gun, Shade, is 2 inches shorter range than the Pathfinder Pulse Carbine, there have been one or two moments in games where he can't shoot because of that which is sad. Shade has 18 inch range, as shown in the image at 1:34, but the Carbine has range 20. Best advise to never worry about it is to have him lead from the front, like a good Farsight Enclaves lad :)
I keep using Darkstrider on all of my lists. Leading a unit of Pathfinders with 3 rail rifle, in a recent game of mine, the rail rifles were wounding Imperial Knight Armigers on rolls of 3. Very good. But, because of that 60 points cost for Darkstrider. I keep him with his unit of pathfinders looking over the home field objective. I’m always playing with a friend that only plays either Knights or Necrons, so he’s moving very aggressively. If I don’t get 1st turn, I’m always sitting in the back of the board because I know he’s going to move everyone forward and take the no man’s land turn 1.
Perfect timing for the viedeo. Im thinking about buying him for a time now. And Great Video, found your Channel a few days ago and really enjoy it. Especialy the non-meta but fun and more casual approach. Also great Video quality. Keep up the good work love to see were this goes. Greetings from germany
I feel you there. For now Darkstrider can take a back seat to the kroot. Though I did get lucky because my girlfriend bought his new model for me and is painting him for me currently. So now I can save more for the kroot!
@CommanderNearsight Your girl paints your models? I'm jealous lol. I don't care for painting. My wife doesn't paint, but she did buy me a stormsurge. I pretty much pooped my pants when she gave it too me lol.
Dang man that's awesome. And yeah she's a bit of an artist and has been picking out different models in my range to repaint or spruce up a bit that look particularly bad. But dang man! A Stormsurge! I'd poop my pants too!
my very first game ever, in 40k was using a 500pt tau army (we knew nothing of the actual rules bar the basic) and he nearly killed a guard scout walker in melee, fun times overall, although now that model is being replaced by an admech technoarcheologist( i like running auxilleries in my army and from what i know admech could hypothetically join) that are being used as proxies since the original one was a breacher team unit from my first 40k box i bought years prior(very bad paint etc) strapped onto a new base
Great video congrats on 400 subs it’s amazing to see how much your channel has grown also video was super helpful just a request but can you please make a video on pathfinders that would be sick and it could accompany this video also he’s so cool I really liked the part when you talked about how he sniped belacore
I'm on it! And thank you very much! We're going to shoot for 500 then hopefully 1,000 and get monetized. And all the while give everyone good T'au content and take video requests!
Strike teams of course. They're better off hiding there and can pop off against anything weak trying to deep strike in to take the objective with good overwatch. Pathfinders are better for moving around to guide for multiple other units and screen out the enemy.
@@travelingspartan2035 i think pathfinders are completly backline units.. they only have OC 1, so cant really contest any forward objective, so home objective is best for their oc. however they are best used for their double observe which if you put forward you will get them killed easier and then their primary focus ability to double guide is invalid.
Hammerheads are the perfect unit for tau.. D6+3 attacks and blast can deal with infantry and heavy infantry and because of its +1 to hit against monsters/vehicles it doesn't matter about its "heavy" keyword. So guiding them are hitting on 2's and then potentially getting from at least 4 shots to maximum 9 shots vs vehicle or monsters, when overcharged gets -2ap, ignore cover and damage 3. Its too perfect to not use and ignore rail canon which is only 1 shot
I use darkstrider multiple ways - use him in pathfinders usual way but with 3 ion rifles.. 9 shots wounding vehicles on 4+ instead of 5's with -2 ap and 2 dam each is much better than 3 shots with 3 damage each I think, percentage wise you get more hits and damage with ion rifles and also much better against heavy infantry too. - the other tactic if I'm vs tyrnanids for example.. i will solo darkstrider in his own devilfish and have pathfinders infiltrate with recon drone to block any infiltrators as much as I can, then scout them back into the devilish with their 7" move and then scout the devilish elsewhere to an objective that's more favourable. - this is a great tactic
DANG! So his deny deep strike is extended to the devilfish giving his ability a larger ora!? That's genius! And I like the rails a bit better because the higher ap and strength I find it better against vehicles and ices non invuln targets. Though recently I've been tempted to try out the ions because greater volume.
@@CommanderNearsight well you can trick with the pathfinders with infiltrators - screen them out, embark them in scout move and then move the devilish 7 away ready for your turn.. his ability wont work in the transport until he is out, but he can be ready to set up anywhere (works well with kroot/farstalkers) ready for turn 1 disembark to maximise their deepstrike range.. you could even scout 7, drop off pathfinders on objective 3" and then move normally with Darkstrike and drop him near their deployment so 12" from him, most likely no deepstrikes in no man land and most of their own deployment zone too. if you want to keep him alive obviously expensive 1cp strat to re embark on a charge but one way to use him
He's talking about what Kyle Grundy does. He's been helping Tau players for like 15yrs or so. It's not a new strat but definitely extremely powerful for the Puretide!@@CommanderNearsight
