Every bit of surface rust you have. You can save it from eating thru..and still maintain that old pair of jeans look you have going on. I build Datsun Z cars, I always use spray cans of Rust-Oleum " REFORMER". JUST SPRAY THE REFORMER ON THE SURFACE RUST !!! It uses the surface rust to bond to the rust. It sprays Watery, spray thin coats.Dont think of it as Primer. Think of it as acid bonding to stop the rust.. You will be so surprised, how it thickens as it dries. To BATMAN Black !!! It's kick ass rust converter. It does not fade in the sun. It stays Batman Black! And stops the surface rust! Later on just when you think about painting just scratch pad it to dull it wipe down with prep glean and prime right over it, Don't sand it down to bare metal you'll be taking off the rust stop.
One more tip, use raptor Bed liner under car and wheel wells. Spray it yourself, it is like covering the bottom and wheel wells of your car with plastic gas tank plastic it's rock proof!
I now want to do a similar build with my 1965 Ford Mustang. May even consider a 3uz swap. Might keep the factory open diff even though its 2.80. I would also likely pair it with a Tremmec T5Z transmission (converted from C4 automatic trans). Also would have to run aftermarket headers and I wanna run a decat too. Not sure how good that will work on a stock ecu though and I dont know any good standalones for a 4.3L. Would also need disc brakes and electric radiator fan
That sounds like it would be a badass car! The tundra 2uz headers are a block a block hugger log style, and are junkyard findable easy and cheap! Link has a kit for the UZ engine for a standalone. No immobilizer on 3uz so that’s a bit easier wiring wise. Thanks for watching 🤙🏼
@@BudgetBuildBureau I’m going to update the rear near the door for a propane shower, the previous owner backed it into something and cracked the fiberglass around the taillight and just duct taped it back together. The tape didn’t hold so the rear has water damage. As for the rest of it, I think keep it original for the most part. I have to seal around the windows, they leak pretty bad.
@@adayinthelifeofchad gotcha, sounds familiar to mine! I will be getting upper windows made (actually might make more and sell as a kit). They will be tinted polycarbonate glue in windows. Mine are very leaky too, and I’ve resealed them twice already
Used factory 3rd gen 4Runner rubber mounts, added tabs to the factory crossmember to help support them and just welded up some plate mounts on the engine side! Thanks for watching!
