@@gregsamson5538 I thought the special was much better than the leaked set. To me it didn't seem "watered down" at all, and definitely not a low point. Heroic comeback from an impossible situation, more like. Sure, the club set was all kinds of controversial, I guess... but he was clearly also testing out material that was far from finished and didn't work that well yet. But yeah, I admit I'm more interested in good comedy than controversy (especially for its own sake) these days... To each their own

Richard Pryor was brilliant, but in my opinion because of his storytelling, quick wit, intelligence, willingness to say anything, and brilliance, Louis CK is the best comedian in the business and perhaps ever.
I find it interesting when I see the comments on here. They do talk about how some of the woke culture is toxic, but the also talked about the other side of things and how that is toxic as well.

So sick of these comments. There is tons of amazing comedians in their prime right now who could care less about being cancelled. A lot of them like cancel culture because it requires more effort from the comedian and gives them a challenge, but they arent gonna change their act. You just have to accept that the younger generation has a different mindset then comedians before them. Comedy has always been EXTREMELY progressive, but you have people like you who dont wanna hear good jokes. You just wanna hear someone else say offensive things you are too scared to say yourself. Theres always that dude in the crowd who cheers as soon as they hear a super offensive line, only to be shut down by the comedian for not listening to the joke. Dan Soder, Andrew schultz, Sam Morril, Tim Dillon, Joe List, Mark Normand, Shane Gillis, etc. Are all great comics who havent even hit their prime and all of them are just as "OfFeNsIvE" as the classics. Im assuming your favorite comedy has to do with white comics making stereotypical jokes about other races🤣 probably a Jeff Dunham fan lmao

If I was rich, I would put on a television special with Louis CK on it and broadcast it all over the internet and tv at the same time and then soak up all the angry comments from those that are offended and smile because I would feel comforted knowing I did that.

Louis CK's last line of, "lets all get back together and-uh kill the jews," was such a perfect demonstration of how saying something for comedic effect is completely separate from someone's beliefs, and how things that are said to be funny should be taken within that context. There is still a line, if something crosses over to just being insulting and no longer funny, but that line exists because that joke is now no longer a joke, it itself has crossed over into an opinion or simple insensitivity, and it can no longer benefit from the context of it being a joke. I think people just need to be kind to one another, and lighten up a bit and just listen to things as they are intended, rather than putting your own biases onto something to pull controversy or to be insulted by something that clearly was not said with that intention. That's my two cents on the matter at least.
These two guys are students of culture. Of dialogue. Looking at things through the lens of a fallible and unfiltered human that is bumbling their way through life just like everyone else. The difference, and certainly, why they are getting their share of hate is that they are not afraid to share their opinions on things that they think are interesting and funny. They are unapologetic in showing that they are human beings. They apologize when they make mistakes (sometimes even on-stage!) sure, but they don't apologize for not having all of the answers. For not knowing all of the things. I think I admire these guys most because they inspire dialogue about those things. What is comedy? Should it change? Why? These guys are, in some ways, the voices for people that feel the same way but don't exactly know how to express it. I appreciate them and they are just as funny when talking about the meta behind their comedy (everything's funny until it happens to you) as they are saying what some people are calling for them to get cancelled for (Louis CK saying the N word on stage). I will always love and support these guys for that.
Lenny Bruce was a martyr for freedom of speech. We owe it to comedians that we can make light of darkness as a way to deal with the world for a brief moment.

The opioid epidemic is viewed differently because doctors had been giving opioids to patients for years and years and years and people were getting addicted. This is not the same as the crack epidemic, as no doctors were ever giving out crack to patients which caused their addiction. Not to mention there are black, white, brown, etc people who are addicted to opioids. This is not a racial issue whatsoever.

Historically, due to the whole medical racism extravaganza that no one would even care about if not for Covid, "our community" is prescribed pain medications much, much, much less than other communities, if at all. This goes back to Pfizer mascot himself, Marion Simms, the crowned Father of Gynecology & his experimentation on slave women without out pain meds, & on to prison experimentation, etc... somewhere deep inside of people's psyche, lives the belief that "black" people don't feel pain the same way "regular" people do. I guess the addiction thing has no such limits. That said, we don't have to really wonder how the promithesine & codeine syrup phenomenon is most prominent in the hands & songs of every hip-hop influencer in America. Furthermore, who knew fentanyl grew on trees on every block, in every hood, USA? I digress, my point is, how crack became a thing is declassified now, whether or not people choose to read the evidence, so in essence, our government is complicit in both, but they were treated with vastly different actions & reactions. It's not funny when I say it, but I do hope that helps shed some light on Dave's take.

@@TheWalterHWhite I think he’s a bit preachy. Louis CK and Bill Burr are two of my favourites and kind of have a similar style but they make astute points without it coming across preachy. Maybe Dave comes across like he cares more which is less funny. Bill and Louis couldn’t care less
Funny how every comedian who gets old and no longer appeals to most young people blame their inability to get laughs on the politics of the audience. Young people didn't laugh at 80 year old Bob Hope when I was growing up, but he never blamed it on cancel culture.
