The fact they still play these very songs in 2021 and they don’t sound old being they are 30 years old shows just how good this band is. Timeless music!
I had a Demo from someone who knew someone back in late '93? I lost it in a move! It took me 4yrs to "remember that guy with the good band's name." Crazy.
Lol it was so bad! Insane, must have been so satisfying a few years later when they nailed this with the full band to make it sound like how they wanted it to sound like here
So amazing to hear the beginnings of this band that has done so much for so many. It’s crazy how the energy and their connection was definitely there since the beginning. That version of Warehouse is insane!
Thank you for this~loving Warehouse aka "Anytime We Can Stop." I guess this was in Carter's basement/garage when Carter, Roi and Boyd all lived on the same street! I think Carter later moved in with Dave in his Mom's basement! #dmbfamily
Its so based of Carter and Roi, two excellent trained jazz musicians, to recognize that this bartender who had a few songs that kinda sorta knew how to play guitar, the potential there.
Crazy to hear this. Amazing how good they sounded even way back then. Reminds me of when Carson Daly asked asked the band about the early days and Carter said they used his basement to play, and he said his mom would close all the windows so the neighbors couldn’t hear because Carter thought they sounded really bad. I know Carter is being humble hear now that I’ve heard this. They sounded awesome!
Anyone have the search terms for the Dave apartment demo where he plays “After Her” but also several other songs? Looking for that early demo with Dave playing “What Would You Say” in that slowed down, heavier funk version.
Davis Waters I would imagine any variance in pitch or tone are due to improper storage and degradation of the physical recording tape...also the transfer from analog to digital as this was deff a tape...keep in mind as well Daves voice was very screechy and high pitched/raw in these embryonic stages
Adam Marshall Spot on. One could rip the mp3, and adjust the pitch and speed in a program like Audacity in order to get it to be closer to the original performance. Still, this is a nice little piece of history.
Agreed, lovely to hear. I've tried pitch correcting stuff like this before. Never sounds quite right because you're starting with a degraded tape or whatnot. Can be fun to try out though!
Adam Marshall I was thinking about that. It may need the same type of treatment that the Lillywhite Sessions eventually received. It's doable, but would take a bit of time.
This band came together in Charlottesville, VA. Tons of cultures, influences, made these songs. How does something like the alt right rally happen at the same place?
