Banner talks about his relationships with Pimp C and Pastor Troy. Creating "Like A Pimp" using Pimp C's voice. Recording with Pastor Troy. His love for Mississippi.
@@terrencenickerson5096 I suppose I meant to say he doesn't receive his accolades as publicly as others of his caliber. I agree with you. Banner is a humble soul.
This has me in tears. 😭 As a die-hard Pimp fan, I know Banner's telling the truth. He wanted to evolve beyond Texas while bridging the South and at the same time he understood it wouldn't be well-received if he would've done it too fast. I can't begin to fathom the pressure he and Bun must've felt and the weight they must've carried. R.i.p to the Pimp. ❤️
This video made me shed tears hearing David Banner actually caring enough to reach out to Pimp C. He made sure to make Pimp C feel special and anointed 👑 Real brotha!,
Every time I hear vice versa it gives me goosebumps 20+ years later.. The way it builds up just grabs your soul and makes uou feel the passion Troy has for his music
He's right about Troy's energy on Vice Versa. I always noticed he was getting louder on the adlibs. When he doubled that "Do you understand there's a war?" you can tell he was in a zone. But another one of my favorite ones was "Eternal Yard Dash".
I never thought about those last 2 UGK albums, because their music was slowly moving into that direction. Thanks for Pimp C stories too Banner. Pimp C was ahead of his time musically and consciously.
David banner is one of the realest celebrity I’ve ever met, he was very personable and I appreciated that!! Not all celebrities are like that but May God continue to bless him on his journey 💯💯💪🏾💪🏾
big facts - i met him in Jackson MS ....dude was just chilling at the corner store like an average dude, talking to a homeless man. ... he was in a baby blue Bentley. I asked him for a pic and an autograph -- he was so damn cool. I still have that autograph to this very day... this was about 2005
Mr. Banner is criminally underrated as a producer like Pastor Troy as a rapper. Big KRIT is a combo of them both and he is underrated imo. So many golden nuggets he spitting here. RIP Pac, Pimp, and Nip!
What's crazy I was not really a Pastor Troy fan,but vice a versa was one of the realest song I ever heard and I would jam any day. Pimp C was becoming conscious and very vocal, we need people like that right now.
I was just listening to Vice Versa few days ago.. Troy energy still unmatched 🔥 till this day especially that song "Oh Father"🔥 RIP PIMP C RIP AND HBD NIP!💙🏁 TUPAC SHAKUR FOREVER MISSISSIPPI STAND UP!!!
“Is the shiit betta than mine niggah?! Omg I wish I heard Pimp say that. Pimp swagger and slang was just addictive man coming from a fellow southerner.
I just love pimp c. His brash delivery and his southern drawl. How he speak the truth about everything. He was definitely the truth. When Boosie speak on social issues it's in the spirit of Pimp C
The song I was talking bout is called “F$&@ Em” with Banner and Troy. That’s one of my favorites. Check it out when y’all get a chance! Carl Mo produced Vice or Versa for Troy which is another one of my favorite songs too!
I feel like Pimp had a vision that was stopped by ppl close to him..I've read everything about Pimp and he had a vision that would make or break the music industry and he was made an example of from the music industry
@@dominiquejones3805 for real that man paved a way and opened doors that other rappers couldn't and wouldn't be able to today had it not been for Chad and his visions for the south and his genres
This is wild! I have literally been revisiting Pimp C interviews, and his music! Of course with UGK as well. I was living in Fort Worth, Texas when he passed! It was a tough loss, I couldn’t believe it!
That like a pimp beat. On another level. My cousin from down south gave me a David banner cd. Shit put me somewhere else and got me thru some rough times. Salute @Davidbanner
Mr.Lavell Crump aka the one and only David Banner, is Multi-Talented! From his Musik Movies and most importantly, his Activism. He definitely deserves more credit.
Once told Troy "Thank You" for given us Vice Versa, it saved my life when I was about to do something crazy back in the day. His words painted a clear picture of the aftermath of my actions.
This is one of the deepest interviews I've heard. Really inspiring what Banner said about giving Pimp C something of REAL value..knowledge of how to create on the MPC. Bravo sir.
Similarities? That first album Banner was damn near sharking him. From his album cover, to his adlibs, to his rap style. He was doing Troy style salvation army level
I am unpologetically on my on my spiritual shit and nothing happens by accident this is the second clip today and both of them made so much fucking sense to me the first one was Tommy Davidson In the ghetto boys it was like a 8 minute clip ASE Kings Asé... The messages have always been there for us it's up to us to listen to him David banner thank you for your delivery
I'm 26 and I heard vice a versa in middle school, that shit always made me think about life differently after I was introduced to the song. Pastor Troy is definitely one of our down south legends.
All the hearts! All the flowers, B High! The common thread in all these interviews is a genuine spirit of gratitude & appreciation. Keep sharing, being, & inspiring this energy, Brother!
I always enjoyed listening to brother David. His music, speeches and interviews alike have always been very positive and highly inspirational. Thanks👑❤
Banner always been one of /(if not THE) realest in this game. It's been a pleasure seeing this man evolve. A whole lot of game can be soaked up from David Banner.
Respect this podcast. I love learning about the south in the early 90's. It's dope a deeper look into the struggle. I respect it...all the way from NYC.
I started Really fw Banner after he went up on the stage at the B.E.T awards and shouted my city out (Ruff Raleigh, NC) He spoke on our hoods and shyt!! This a Real Stand up Brother!
Much love and respect to David Banner he’s definitely a Legend I’m from AZ and RIP my aunt who put me on Cadillac on 22s whn I was younger! I gotta say DB need his credit in the game not only for his contributions but for staying solid the whole time, lookin out for Pimp C and giving Pastor Troy his flowers 👌🏾 💪🏽vice versa 💯🙏🏽☝🏽 stay up and stay blessed king 👑
Gah damn this whole segment hurts, between Banner just being who he is and not getting nearly enough credit for his contributions and his stories about Pimp C. I appreciate this dude for being a standup guy
I got Goose bumps on my arms when he mentioned the yeah in Pastor Troy's song got more and more intense. I felt that like I did when I use to play it over and over.🌋🌋🌋
I’m a Georgia Boy, Born and Raised in Macon, GA, and to this very day my absolute favorite song of all time is Pastor Troy, WWW? (Who, Want, War) off of the Faceoff Part 2 album. I love Vice Versa to but WWW? is the greatest song ever, IMO. Long Live Pimp C as well.

I just saw Pastor Troy at the West End Mall in Atlanta a month ago. He had on a mask and I said to him you can't hide brother, I know your eyes! He bust out laughing and gave me the biggest compliment and hugged me so hard🥰 love him and David Banner...
When I first heard vica versa I was like.. We are here.. and I am not alone and anyone can say anything but when they disagreed. Face Off time and 20+ years later nobody still can F with my playlist cause if it's missing vica versa, you're already done and follow that with Oh Father🤦🏽♂️😎OV. King Mohamnad
