I worked at a hotel that both David and Derek Carr were having a meeting at for some charity work. Being that both played for Fresno state and I'm born and raised from Fresno, I wanted the opportunity to meet them. I was fortunate enough to walk in the conference room they were both in as I was bringing the room ice cold water. Everyone thanked me, except David. In fact, Derek took the time to look at me and wave. I waved back and looked at David as he never once felt my presence. Watching this video helped me feel better as I realized he wasn't ignoring me, he just never paid attention to his surroundings lol.

@swallowme535
@swallowme535 3 года назад
Really? Look at the numbers he got better each of his first 3 seasons. That’s typical of most qbs when they enter the league. Then he capped out. If it really hurt his confidence during his rookie year I dont think it would delay its negative effects on performance until his 4th season onward. He was a spread qb who not only was put in an awful situation (which he was i wont dispute that ever) but probably wasnt that good to begin with. Qb numbers were always being inflated and those guys went high in their drafts, think Andre Ware, think David Klingler, think Tim Couch. Awful surroundings doom just about everybody but its also not as if he was ever a brilliant prospect because of all of the historic issues of spread and going into the NFL back then and its not as if he completely stalled out after his rookie year, I think you’re underestimating David’s mental toughness

The Career of David Carr is a sad one..getting drafted as the Face of a Franchise QB with an expansion team that just entered the league and damn that offensive line got obliterated every snap and when there was good protection no one was getting open and the worst part about it was when they were down and teams knew they had to pass to get yardage and in position to score opposing defense pinned their ears back and got to Carr..one of the biggest what if in NFL history if only David Carr had a decent or average OL..Getting a pocket of at least 2 seconds to throw is gonna mess with your pocket presence and mess with your timing and the clock in your head telling you to get out of the pocket when there’s no pressure and it’s makes you see ghost..

Looking at the Cleveland Browns game in Reel 4 (this was actually six games into the season or Week 7). David Carr and the 1-4 Texans went into the Dawg Pound and they allowed a season-high 13 times. 13/76 is equal to roughly 17.1% of the total sacks taken in a record-breaking season that involves Derek Carr being sacked more than anyone. Even if a few were recorded as him scampering out of bounds due to pressure by the opposing defense behind the line, they all hurt just as bad, almost, I feel, when the failure is that consistent. And I watched the tape again. The hits Carr took when he got sacked via contact... fucking brutal, man. Christ, sub him out. They never did... and they were getting whooped. You know what makes this so much worse... he has 2 of the top 3 seasons for being the most sacked QBs. Yup... his 05' season with those same Texans, who apparently didn't listen to Carrs soft cries for help, takes up the #3 spot where he took another 68 sacks. 144 in 2 years not too far apart from one another. My God. Was the money really worth it? I guess if he's okay. Dude is made of fucking titanium!!
