I remember when I first beat the game I couldn't figure out wtf I was fighting. I figured out how to beat but, but I thought it was a special stage and somehow I missed the actual final boss. When I realized it was the final boss I imagined the story must've been that the Icon of Sin was an entrapped demon that was trying to break through the wall where he was imprisoned.

Huh! For my mapset I made an Icon of Submarine - which was being developed by Icon of Sindustry until Doomguy showed up and shot at the submarine's sail until it blew up. It even gets a dramatic music change on the way into 'infiltrating' the submarine hangar. Getting John's noggin and the stage in the right place for his explosions to engulf the submarine was the biggest challenge.

Me too! I only understood what I had to do after cheating to the end, where it mentioned “rockets” in the text. I didn’t think of that because why would you not use your best weapon on this thing?!
