This guy is actually a genius. He isn’t a dumb rockstar. He acts ridiculous because that’s what the real smart ones do. He is into so many different things and worked with surgeons right out of high school.
DLR - the only guy who talks about everything else BUT the subject matter at hand to make his point. Love him or hate him, there is only one David Lee Roth and he can never be matched or duplicated! lol
If your mind was as expanded as DLR is, you would know he replies to a question by use of allegory or exaggeration, hyperbole, and what separates Dave from You, or ME, is that he's actually lived everything he talks about. Most of us will go to our grave wishing we did 1/1000 of the things Dave did...and STILL DOES. He has an abstract mind, hard for regular folks to follow.
He doesn't really talk about everything else though, although I get your drift. Somehow, if you listen closely, Dave ties it all together in the end and it's like WOW. He's just more 'colorful' than the average human. ;-)
When you play the game of life you play it for all it's worth, it's a full contact sport no one gets out alive it's not whether you win or lose it's how good you looked honey!
DLR talks in story form. There's a lot going on in that head, This has always been Dave. He talks in a different way than most humans do., But even his old interviews, he always had a good story to weave around and BAM, comes back to nail the answer. He still lives life to the fullest. Always stretched musically. Look after VH broke up, Dave didn't whine, he put together a band that was perhaps equal or better to VH...and he had FUN. His solo stuff was pure gold man. the Eat Em and Smile Band....there's a group that 'would change your haircut'...as Dave might say ;-)
Roth was never sorry, He formed several bands after, the EatEmandSmile band was at least as good as VH...I think he may have missed the 'MAGIC'. the chemistry between him and Eddie, when it came to writing top notch stuff. That can be heard on two songs they wrote for the greatest hits LP. Me Wise Magic, * Can't Get This Stuff No More. And, eventually they got back together till the end anyway. Nothing will compare to the Roth years with Ed. , Alex, and Michael. I just think there is an entire generation , two actually that don't hear that version, all they know is Hammy Van Sagar...but that's a watered down version 🤘🎶
Van Halen didn't break up. Dave left to be a movie star and solo. See, the big difference between Dave, Sammy, and Gary is that Sammy and Gary are musicians. Dave is an entertainer.

You know I've been a VH fan since the 70's ... VH 1 was the first album I ever bought for myself - I've been watching and listening to Dave for a long time and I've come to the conclusion that he's a total sweetheart in the best sense of the word. I don't think Dave has a mean bone in his body but I do think he is emotionally damaged somewhere deep within due to some aspect of his Childhood relationship with his Mother. This may be a huge reason why he never settled down into a formal relationship and/or had children of his own. I think what we have here is a good soul who wants to please people and make people happy ... he found a way to do it without getting hurt himself. Diamond Dave is the happiest Shark I've ever seen. Bless his soul ...
@@bengomez3610 I'm not sure, but it all depends on popularity at the moment, how big of a draw the particular band will bring, what were they paid last time they performed at the event. ect..ect... Its all business just like anything else. The managers handle it all.

@@PaulPaidvh reputation, guitar prowess, but Hagar is no Roth, Ted Templeman didn't produce 5150,and it shows. Roth is quirky, much smarter, much more range influences, and at that time far better stage act, very unique

He can't get along with anyone he has worked with. How is that smarter?? Also, Sammy dragged him out of obscurity and put money in his pocket when he offered to do a "Sans Halen" tour. ..to which Dave ultimately proved ungrateful....as ever. Sammy could have easily toured by himself b/c his solo act was still very much alive. Concert promoters were not looking at Dave in that way.
@@PaulPaid sammy is pretty dimwitted, he's a fine enough fellow, but he's not Roth, a truly iconic and unique. Rock Candy just isn't that heavy compared to Really Got Me or Atomic Punk. This cat is way out. Hagar is garage band singer, not on same level, VH knew it, so did Ted Templeman who refused to produce 5150,stuck with DLR.
James, we will pray for health, and good things for DM, or maybe for the cancer to take a vacation forever, but I do not think you want us to pray for the cancer:). We are in a great time, new cures are found each day. One of my friends had liver cancer, and they put him in an induced coma at Cedars, and when they found a matching liver, he got it and was better than new! Prayers for DM to get cancer free and happy.

Ahh, your all just jealous that none of you have anywhere near Dave's level of love for life. The man is an American treasure with the brightness knob up to 11. There is nothing like him in nature. Not a bad bone in his body, who created some wonderful fucking music. We are all wrong. Dave is who we should be.

At least one more VH album would be wonderful! I really dig ADKOT, I bought it the day it came out and flogged it for a year, I think it is one of their heaviest & best!
Well, to me their are only 6 VH Albums, but it's whatever you like. Music is subjective. I also happen to love Sammy Hagar, I just happen to like his solo stuff better, but that's just me.
David Lee Roth needs to have a podcast or be on the radio as an interviewer.... he would really be good at it because he is a thinking man . . . As long as he was a good listener and doesn't interrupt .
I love David Lee Roth don’t get me wrong, but it seems like once he get a high from being a rock ‘n’ roll star he never came down he just walks around with that same feeling To the point where he’s self entertaining’,I wish I could feel like that all the time
