I feel as if this would have been the next step, musically speaking, if the band had not broken up. The song's not too bad, it actually sounds like a song Japan would make together.
That's because Jansen and Barbieri were also involved in this song. Barbieri also did some of the synth sounds in "Weathered Wall" and "Before the Bullfight".
This was the wrong choice for the third single. They should have gone for Nostalgia or a shortened version of Brilliant Trees. Then it would have charted top 40.
