David Tennant joined Christian OConnell this week to co-host the breakfast show. We had over 1,000 questions from listeners and so David created a special feature for his younger fans to ask him whatever they wanted.
You can really tell David was really in a spot with Nathan. Like he said, Nathan was exactly like David at that age. It was like talking to his childhood self. I would really like to know if Nathan stuck with it and didn't outgrow his desire to be an actor. The fact that he started that he was already in acting school/classes was very promising. That is the sweetest thing I've ever heard. If I was in David's place, I'd get that kid's details and see what I could do about getting him the best resources available and within reason to help with his training. He did start writing something down after they had disconnected so I wonder if he got back in touch. I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT NATHAN!! HOW IS HE?? lol
His face when Nathan told him that he was "the best Doctor" makes me tear up every single freaking time I watch this video... You can tell that David actually cares about what this kid, this little kid who most people would just brush off, has to say. David actually tears up and he's genuinely effected by what this kid says. He's genuine when he says that he's "looking forward to the 14th Doctor" and I just love that. David deserves to be the best Doctor and he really is at least to me.
I wait for Nathan to become the Doctor (doesn't matter which one by number). Nathan, if you read this someday, please know, that me and I'm sure many other people believe in you and your dream.
His reaction to Nathan is such a great example of why David Tennant is so beloved. Not only is he the most talented actor alive, he's so genuine and kind. Absolutely adore him.
David's face when the first boy said David's inspired him to become an actor and brilliant. You can tell he was touched by the boy's comments. So sweet!
Ahhh! Everything comes full circle. :) David once said in an interview that the reason he became an actor was because he wanted to be the Doctor. That was so sweet. Nearly made me cry. :')
the kids calling in was sooo sweet. It was lovely to hear a wee bit of that Scottish accent showing up here and there. :o) It's a shame we won't hear it in the new show either. It's showing up on IMDB as "Rex Is Not Your Lawyer". We wish you the best David! and will be checking out your new show when it airs!
I just love David especially when he's talking to Nathan. I swear that man is just out there just so he can make me squeal and then say 'YOU CAN'T HAVE ME!!'
The thing is, when David said he was exactly like Nathan when he was his age... He GENUINELY means that. He was exactly like that when he was 11. He loved watching the series as a child and and told his parents, drama teacher and everyone else in his world that he wanted to become the doctor. It was his dream to be the doctor. And if David can reach his dream then Nathan surely will too if he works hard. This is why i love David. He's so down to earth and completely loveable...
ETA - Rose is actually my favorite companion (though I do adore Donna) - I just mean he always seems more like best mates with Catherine than with the other two on real life stuff
Awe! SO sweet! I want more! I love David so very much. His face when Nathan says "you inspired me to be an actor", priceless. I'm looking forward to Nathan as #14! Ps. I think it's Billie Piper.
Aww it's sweet indeed. David must feel honored of inspiring a child to be an actor :) I agree, he just can't choose a fav companion (or at least not in public? But it's understandable, he's equally nice to all of them) :)
Sooooo precious!! you could see his heart melting when talking to Nathan....Then you could also see how uncomfortable he was getting with that last one...hahaha SO CUTE he is...its like hes so genuine he cant even hide his emotions. xD
Nathan's only a year younger than me, so it looks like I'm gonna be his companion. :) Looking forward to it, I believe we'll both be able to achieve these dreams.
In a few years' time, they will announce that Nathan Whatsisface has been cast as the new Doctor. And David Tennant will read the news and weep one single, dignified tear of pride.
Love the interview almost as much as I love the apricot shirt [but what is the dark singlet or is it a tee shirt underneath it? He must really feel the chill.] So glad to hear such nice, well mannered kids. Imagine getting to Show and Tell that phone call at school??!??
Awww, Nathan, you got to David Tennant! And it's true - he wanted to become an actor from the age of 3 so he could one day be the Doctor. I'm rooting for Nathan to become the 14th Doctor, too (or any 'th' Doctor, really). (And while it's technically official that Time Lords can regenerate only 13 times, thanks to canon established from The Deadly Assassin onwards, I fully trust in the showrunners to come up with a fantastic and plausible reason to abolish it.).
