***** lol you dont know nothing dude... Watch first David-Tua vs lennox lewis, the champion... Lewis fights against Tua and my opinion, Tua was better... On the past Lewis winns Tyson... Can you see wth i´m talkin about it? Lol. David Tua vs Tyson it´s a implemented dream. Watch the facts dude. Stay cool.
+Zombie Lauderdale why do somoans have short stature. but are built like trucks and hit like some one is throwing a moped at your face. like mark hunt is just like tua
+Zombie Lauderdale naw bro! I'm going to have to disagree on that one! Tyson was too much of a killer. Tua was too and would've been a beautiful thing to see them fight.
Tua was a powerhouse, but as I watch closely I notice he's actually pretty classically crafty. I don't like that we all tend to say he's another Tyson, without giving him credit for his classical styling; that's what really makes a difference between him and Tyson. But nevertheless it's very apparent that he was here to spar with Evander to get him primed for a fighter like Tyson.
David Tua came in for the sole purpose of getting Evander ready for Tyson. That’s it. Gary Bell came in right before David did to be Evander’s main sparring partner for the Tyson fight.
Tua below his legs look rock solid and extremely special exercise program with lots of commitment. His fighting style is such that he has got centre of gravity and he is not of balance where fighters are skipping and dancing, more of a wrestlers legs controlling the ground. The other area of strength are his work ethics of building his upper body strength. If you see the frontal view you will see the development of the muscular development of the upper back between the shoulder blades that's developed and given his neck a solid foundation. These muscles are of strength and as usual since he is short he is delivering round house to the boxers from his shoulders to taller heavyweights who receive it on their chin when they fight upright position or else high cheekbone or side of the skull. His heavy midbody work make taller boxers lean forward and offer their head for a target and in range for his inside hooks to their chins and has a high accuracy ratio. Mind you he is totally multifaceted. The flying left hook to the point of his opponents chin that ends the fight. His heavy punching of his opponents body( midriff) that collapses them or make them lean forward and come down to his height and terminates the fight. Mind you he has a speed that he can land atleast a dozen power punches in matter of seconds that happened to very good boxers like Hashim Rehman when refree stopped the fight. One thing I have seen his opponents all tough guys get KO'D and loose consciousness. Many anxiety moments in the ring for the fighter, the referee and the ringside doctor. Other's stopped their boxing career. Few landed up with strokes post fights. One thing in heavyweight boxing he could finish an opponent and had a different variety of angles which taller heavyweights never faced in their lives. He won fights on his merit on KO'S and TKO'S. You didn't have to go to the judges scorecards. He was started as a heavyweight and finished as a heavyweight with honor in the same division. A heavyweight specialist. I like his attitude in boxing and the closest with this attitude is my favorite Roberto Duran. Sometimes The best fighters in boxing cannot be conquered. The only irony age closes their careers. I salute David Tua on his achievements.
No wonder Holyfield took some serious licks from the likes of Tyson and stood up to it...with Tua as a sparring partner! If you can get through that, then I guess you can take anyone's punch.
@@flare3854 Agree. When he faced Douglas he was in downhill and not prepared for that fight, we could watch all his fight before that for the truth. Against Holyfield he went to 4 years of jail and was out of his prime.
which is the total opposite of Holyfield who was known to keep unloading after the bell especially if he was clipped just before the bell. He said he always wanted to have the final punch.
For sure . But only if he would have stay in shape . Nowadays boxer in terms of power and skills can’t even compare with 80s and 90s boxers no cap. But I Tyson fury out boxing style is pretty good tbh. Not entertaining I know but that’s how this sport had turned into. Thanks to the ideal of « UNDEFEATED » business . Against an overweight tua, Tyson fury would have just run and jab. Wining by point like most professional boxer today
@@bremCZ - yep no doubt about it, imo, his prime was around his 20s. Also a tua from Ike’s showdown would have win as well. But yeah we never known , even an overweight tua would probably connect and turn the tables.
I got respect for Evander! Met and talked to him and asked about sparring with Tua. He said the same thing that mike Tyson said about Tua at that time. Tua was the only guy that they were scared to fight. Now that's true respect right there. Not many boxers of that caliber can say that. Lennox took the fight fight with Tua when Tua has just got off of a win that his ribs took a beating and a scandal with tuas manager at the time. Lennox didn't want to give Tua a rematch because he was scared the first time even when Tua was hurt.
He did. It just happened to be against the best heavyweight of that era. It's too bad that Tua didn't get another shot. And on top of that, going through all those court proceedings with his snake managers
@@jahqayburnett7736 Nah not really this spar was before holyfield and Tyson fight this spar is the reason why holyfield adapted to beating Mike tyson, if it wasn't for Tua holyfield would most likely not know what to do against Tyson.
Tua had so much talent. He beat World Champions and looked phenomenal against the great Holyfield but he never became a World Champion himself. Still a Legend nonetheless! Edit: *Tua was the WBC Champ when he koed Ruiz (thanks Truthreigns) Tuas legacy is cemented! At 5'9 he overachieved fighting amongst giants!
Ginn N. Juice I read the court case documents when it was archived ... man his accountant was a maggot ! He was bloody flying hookers in to where ever he was in the world and putting the bill on Tuaman Inc as an expense... what an absolute maggot he was. He lied a lot in his testimony he would answer “I cannot recall” but he knew the answers to the questions being asked but the questions being asked were terrible to his character if he answered them truthfully.
sneec hamo he was knocked out in 1991 world Amateur championship boxing by an Olympic gold medalist Felix Savon. I watched the fight and that was his basically only knock out ever in his boxing career as a whole if you watch boxing like you said. He's been knocked down in his professional but in talking about Amateur. Oh and it was in the first round.
Yaahboi52 do you eve know what a k.o even means. Yes I've that fight if they would give him a 10 count he would have recovered and continued on but hey it was the amateur
Everyone in the comments is talking about Tua's impressive Left Hook but let me tell ya that Right Uppercut is seriously business, too. Both Tua and Holyfield are sensational.
This version of Tua was truly peaked and primed. Would have loved to see this version fighting a 1987 Tyson. Tyson’s defense and explosiveness vs Tua iron chin and left hook.
In the Tyson fight, Evander walked Mike to the ropes every time he tied him up. Here in sparring, he is working on keeping Tua in the center of the ring. Interesting. Good sparring!
Great footage! I'm not sure what Evander was working on in this session but it looked like he was just coasting, he showed very little of the array of razor sharp combinations here that Tyson was on the receiving end of a few days later.
They’re just working on different strategies Holyfield might have to employ in the fight, sparring isn’t a fight it’s just working on techniques and game plans.
That was some very rough, tough sparring. And very heated and competitive. I can see Tua being tough stylistically for Evander, but I imagine in a real match he would try and outbox Tua from a distance using mov't rather than the in-fighting that they were doing here. Evander landed some nice shots but Tua is more efficient and skillful in close.
If Tua was trained by Kevin Rooney & trained correctly, for lack of better term, he would have been something special! He had the goods. His left hand was crazy, jab & hook!
All Tuas knocked out was on the opponents first fall like lightning strucks. But Tysons knocked out takes 2 to 3 opponents fall before the refs stop him or completely ko. That means Tysons power punch is no match with Tuas.
Tyson would have gassed out after 5 rounds , Tua could box the whole 12 rounds , There's the difference and Tua would catch Tyson sooner or later with that left hook , Tua was a 1 trick pony but what a trick
The Samoans are always strong, big, some of them are short, but the width of their body is large and made of muscles and combinating with a little body fat, that's why they are strong.
Nice! I ended my boxing moments a few years ago, but I boxed my good portion of my life, and when I had a tittle fight I would spar 3 freash guys, I would spar 1 guy until I got tired and as soon as I got very tired they would throw another new guy right at me right away, that was hard, but it got me to go to the 12th round though
This was the time Tua was in his prime. So much potential but was not managed well. Everything was going well until Kevin Barry took over! He would of been the first Samoan to be HW champion of the world. Now Joseph Parker has to try and finish what Tua didn't!
It's the most unlikely-sounding sparring music. It's music to make you feel like praying or donating, not hitting another guy. Two nice Christian lads.
Legends....imagine if the rules are changing, no holdings, no running away from your opponent...probably every Tua opponent will hit the canvas in the first round.
Tua was the perfect sparring partner.I wonder if Holyfield would have one without practicing with tua.He was the only short fighter with the strength and power and size of Tyson.
Tua was a lot more durable than Tyson and could generate more power with less movement. Would have been a cool fight to watch, but it never happened. Oh well. 🤷🏾♂️
nice to see those things sparring sessions / fights that were never broadcast... I remember an anecdote back in the late 80's at the Mickey Rourke gym in LA where Riddick sparred Tommy Morrison. They were suppose to go 3 rounds but they went 2.. Morrison hit Bowe several times with body shots that made Riddick quit on the stool. Eddie Futch was pissed.
This Tua should have gotten a title shot way before he became overweight and cocky Tua vs Lewis. ... Then again Tua at this time was a Big Problem and a lot of Heavy weights didn't want to fight him.
Well, if you know, in sparring you are not always try to beat the shit your opponent or to connect more shots. Sometimes (always imo) you try to work on something (counter, defense, tactic, clinch) so a sparring session isnt always a good idea to see who will win. Anyway they are both elite boxers and beasts.. Respect
