Only man in history to be 4x heavyweight champion, only man in history to be Undisputed in more than one weight class, fought everybody, one of the greatest hearts in boxing, and one of the most entertaining boxers of all time. Top 20 all time and if you ask me, top 10.
The real special thing with evander is he learnt to box at light heavy and cruiser weights and became really skilled ....he then bulked up to heavyweight and had the skill , reflexes , power and experience to carry it off!!
And that titanium chin. It´s fucking insane how his chin held up all form light heavyweight - cruiserweight - to heavyweight. And arguably the strongest chin of all time. Shit makes no sense
I don't think boxing would have been what it was, without Evander Holyfield, and what he did, and what he accomplished. Yes there were other more popular, higher paid boxers, but the the fact that Holyfield fought everyone he possibly could, kept people watching. If you were a no name boxer but fought Holyfield, everyone wanted to know what you brought to the ring. That's how powerful Holyfield was, in my opinion.
Holyfield is one of the greatest boxers to ever step in the ring. He had the whole package, the definition of the term "warrior". Awesome work again Rainy Day, thanks a lot!!
@@ocnbxng5038 Too much power? Nah, Holyfield took Foreman's best shots(who was admittedly old but still had TONS of power), as well as Tyson's, he'd be fine against Wilder. Wilder would get outboxed and worn down against Holyfield, he'd pick him apart piece by piece.
@@garethhancock8525 true but evander holyfield was also comparitively undersized compared to heavyweights of his time. He took his weight trainig regime rather super seriously.
this is false but he is the first to use modern weight training. Lee Haney 8x Mr.Olympia trained him. however, even older guys like Ken Norton was weightlifting with bodybuilders and even legend Vince gronda
@MUFC This is the second channel I've seen you on man, stop getting on channels of a different sport that doesn't concern you. We like violence not cat fights by men kicking a ball around. Rugby is better than soccer in my opinion.
This is a dope video, holyfield is one of the greatest boxers of all time, his boxing skills backed up with sheer will was second to none. You do a video with rare training clips of Riddick Bowe.
He's not a 5 time champion if you're talking heavyweight. He's a legit 3-time heavyweight champion, and a legit four-time heavyweight titlist, as he won the WBA crown vs. Ruiz in their 1st fight, b/c Lennox dropped the belt to fight Grant instead, so Holy and Ruiz were #1/2 in WBA. However, he was ROBBED vs. Valuev which would have made him a legit 5-time Heavywt titlist (Klitschko was the real champ at that time). He won the "WBF" title vs. Botha which is not a recognized sanctioning body, it's from Australia I believe, and Botha was not even in the top 20 of any of the recognized bodies.
Listening to these videos gives me such inspiration from starting my day to doing my workout routine. Just gives you motivation knowing what the end result of your hard work can look like.
@jamalking99 Just taking steroids is not enough, you have to work extremely hard. But what to say, if he was taking steroids from the cruiserweights, he moved to the heavyweight, and as a natural middleweight he could compete with natural superheavyweights
@@artvandelay837 Drugs don't give you skills though, or relentless mental strength, without those things he'd have been nothing and all the drugs in the World wouln't help.
One of my favorite fighters ever. He's an exceptional human being out n in the ring. Had a heart of lion, greatly skilled in all departments especially his heart n stamina. He was missing couple things as a HW: was undersized and didn't have enough puncher power however he make up for those...
I'm definitely adapting his style. I'm about to consume all the knowledge I can from this extraordinary Man. Im a Visual learner and I train all day ;) Thank you, Champion.
Well, I suppose you're not wrong, but no one else even lasted long enough to attempt head butting him let alone pick him apart round after round. I'm not saying he didn't do either thing you mentioned but you still have to give him credit for getting it done. I'm sure Tyson had faced similarly 'prepared' opponents before and he destroyed them. Give Holyfield his just due.
Oldschool, is wonderful, finest boxing. I'm huge Tyson fan but Evander is for me a real gentleman and he won twice against Tyson not only because his skills but also character. Don't get into the hype and you will achieve a lot more. Like Tyson used to do with Cus D'Amato at the beginning. But this is indeed just my opinion and shall not be taken as a truth.
What is the name of the training device he is using on minute 0:47? It's like resistance bands but they are retractable and they are loaded into some kind of semi-rigid vest or harness? I've been trying to Google those things and just can't find them.
He was 1s of the greatiest. He had everythings apart from heavy weight punch. He was the only undisputed world cruiser weight champion to become the undisputed heavy weight champion of the world. His 2 fights against Riddick Bow is second only 2 Ali vs Joe Frazier.
@@MrKg1991 DH talked a lot,but won 1hw belt against the giant Russian, lost it against Wladimir Klitschko. The great James (light out )Tony call the Klitschko, the Klitschko sister,i agree with him. They were the worst champions so far. They had superior adavantage against all their era boxers, but lost against shorter, weaker punchers.WK was shocked, wen he fought Tyson F. DH was a good cruiser weight, but average hw champion.Evander Holyfield(the real deal)is 1 of the greatiest,& the only boxer 2 be the hw champion 4 times,he beat Ali.Ali 4 me is beyond boxing, but was the greatiest hw boxer ever, coz of who he beat.
Rainy Day Boxing+ Thanks, folks! Evander was VERY private when it came to his workouts but I heard some of the stories about it. Thanks for bring us a short picture of the Champ at his greatest. P.S. tell da Champ he wrong for just now opening the window to let us all peak in!
For all of you all saying Evander Hollyfield was taking steroids: where's the evidence to prove this.? But is this just a case where people can't make sense of a man working so hard where he reaches this level so they assume he took steroids, or they're just jealous or something so they say it.
I hear you however it's been documented that Evander used stereriods, his name came up after some labs were raided and he was using the name Evan Fields as a decoy name, the adress was his residence in Georgia, also had heart problems after the Michael Morrer fight. Still an amazing boxer/athlete that I have tremendous respect for, but his steroid use is well documented
Kobies , you can reach conclusions by observation . He was trained by Lee Haney back then who was a former Mr . Olympia . He has heart problems which is from the steroids .
One of the many things I always liked about Holyfield is he , along with Ali , were two champs that fought nearly , if not , all they were supposed to ! Both these guys dodged few if any fighters . I looked at my old ring magazine record book , and if you included Bob Foster , Ali fought 29 top 10 ranked heavy wts in his career ! I don`t know how many Holyfield fought , but I bet he fought many top contenders himself !
I was a massage therapist at Caesar's casino at Lake Tahoe in the late 80's. I come back from lunch and they tell me my next appointment is already on the massage table. So I go in and Evander Holyfield was laying there, with a towel over him. The funny part is I only weighed 145 pounds at the time. I told him I don't think I could do much, but he was real cool and said not to worry about it. Real nice guy, very polite.
