What another awesome day! I ate a lot of food 🥘 today and most of it was nothing really good for me. For some reason today I needed food that was more hearty. Salad 🥗 and fruit 🍎 was not gonna work.
I had a great short southbound hike. I hiked 🥾 my first 2 miles in one hour even with my bum knee. The trail was awesome in so many ways and ending with a beautiful river walk.
Need a massage in Hot Springs? Brooke is the best! ❤️

NOC Is a whitewater rafting company. They run trips down the French Broad and the Nolichucky in Erwin, which you will cross and follow upstream. My supposition is that the small cabins are housing for guests. That larger building may be for the guides or for large groups. A stream gauge measures the water level/velocity of the flow of the river. At certain water levels, very high, rafting is not recommended. The big class IV rapid is upstream of where you came down to the river. And, yup. In asstion to backpacking, my husband and I were raft guides with Nolichucky Expeditions in Erwin back in the 80’s. We loved in Erwin so where you are was our stomping grounds. How I miss those mountains! You videoing your trek though the mountains that I consider home ( you are making me cry) is a lovely memory of those times. Thank you! For your knee, get one of the neoprene knee brace or sleeve that you can where at night. The heat it produces will be very soothing and healing. Plus vitamin I, of course! Take it from someone with bilateral knee replacements. Happy Trails! And say high to those mountains from Sketch n’ Snorebaby!

Hi Julia, we’ve watched all your videos and enjoy them. I’ve done most of the sections you’ve done so far. Even stayed in that same room over the Spring Creek Tavern back in late January. - Jimmy Dean

Apparently water has negative ions and that’s what makes you feel good around it. Maybe someone with science background knows this

Wow! I can see why whistling was requested of you. That was beautiful! Do you mind sharing what song that was? Oh, those mountains and that French Broad River! Gorgeous footage and wonderful, engaging narration, as always. Thanks so much for letting us hike along with you! We’re with you all the way!

Actually the song I was whistling was something I just made up on the fly. I do that quite often. 🎶

You’re soon approaching Flint Gap/Flint Mtn Shelter area. That’s in/next door to Rocky Fork Tn State Park. I visited there in 2022 as my last of 56 Tenn state parks in a year challenge with the women’s hiking group I belong to. Drove thru Hot Springs when I left Rocky fork. Always enjoy seeing the thru hikers videos from that area. Beautiful country! I’m really enjoying your content. Hiking on and take care of that knee!

I wish I could have. When I fell in the Smokies my knee was all cut up and I still had the cuts. I didn’t want to risk any infection.
