An average day in the life of a startup software engineer in Sweden after returning to the office. I'll show you my commute, the challenges of getting into the office, eating, drinking coffee, having fun with my coworkers and my time after work. I hope this video will give you a realistic picture of what a daily life for a software engineer in Sweden is like!

I've been using this computer for work for more than a year now and I couldn't be more satisfied. The battery time is outstanding and so far the Apple chip has tackled all the challenges we've faced together.
iPhone 13 Pro
I've filmed this entire vlog on the phone. The battery time is still great, however most of the footages are noisy due to the lack of adequate light.

I would say that compared to the cost of living, salaries are not really high, but enough to live comfortably. It won’t make us rich though :)

@@alexandrf2428 As I've heard, in Sweden it's a bit hard to get the first job, even if you have a CS degree. Once you have some experience, it's a lot easier to get a job, regardless of your educational background.

I've never seen Go being used here at my country... Other than when I did use it, but that's cheap. I was using Go when you still had to comply to its strict rules for package/module filesystem location. Now is so much easier to use it. The memories..

I only started using Go in 2020, at that point it wasn't that painful anymore :) I worked with Java prior to that, for half a decade, and I must say I prefer Go in many aspects, but I miss Java's community.

Thanks! I didn't promote myself in any way, but I did a lot of research and it seems that RU-vid won't start recommending your videos until they reach 300-400 views. Until then you mostly need to rely on views from RU-vid search, so you need good SEO. My advice (after being on RU-vid for a week now, so give it a handful of salt) would be to add a lot of keywords to your videos, also make sure that the title contains the main keywords as well as the description. Good luck with your channel! :) I just subbed.

I'm an IT student and I have a question: is our life lonely, or is it just a coincidence that all the videos I find from programmers here, they live alone, eat alone, sleep alone? I don't wanna be this lonely always :(

It’s not a coincidence but the reason is not that we’re lonely, but that it’s quite inappropriate to film people while they’re working, eating, sleeping, etc. Most people are not comfortable with being filmed and it’s illegal in many countries to film people without their consent. So what most youtubers do is either doing things alone for the sake of filming or pretending to be alone and not film others to avoid being a weirdo and to not violate other people’s rights. For example in the office I normally eat lunch and have coffee with my coworkers, but it would have been quite awkward to stick a camera into their faces while they’re eating, so this time I went alone. I also don’t live and sleep alone, I’ve been living with my girlfriend for several years now, she was with me when I ate pizza and watched Netflix in the video, but she stayed out of the frame as she didn’t want to be included in the video. IT folks are not more lonely than anyone else, and youtube videos never tell the full story about people’s lives :)

Being lonely is not the product of our career choice. Its the product of our personality. I'm also studying software development, in Sweden. I'm 31 years old, living in a house with my wife and our daughter. The vibes I get from some of my fellow students is that some of them chose this education in hopes of working completely solo with no human interaction, because they suffer from social anxiety. But in reality, communication is key.
