I know! VR is my main way to fly, can't go back after getting depth perception. I just record 2d so y'all get to watch more than 15-20 fps. I love how gigantic the chopper feels, ED hit it out of the park
@@flyingwithfrancis1104 Now we need more pilots to play in VR. Quest 2 is like 300€ that is very affordable price. Also if more people play in VR ed will get to fix that performance much faster.
Nice job for just learning this helo! Fun video, thanks for posting it. Love the sound of the Hind. New sub so look forward to seeing more from you… The Syria map is awesome in a helo and really fun in the Hind now that they’ve put more stuff into it…
Good flying, looked like fun. I need to get more seat time back in the Hind before apache gets here. Sounds like I have a bit extra time to practice though.
Is it normal that different liberation patches have different campaigns ? I´m looking for some coin campaign with the syria/russian army against insurgence but only the 4.0 version has some sort of this stuff. I have never used liberation before so i don´t know much about it.
Yes! It kind of bugs me too because there were some cool campaigns on the north end of the PG that disappeared. The latest version has been good to me though, I've enjoyed what's on offer.
Cool ass gameplay, excellent flying too looked badass- more liberation videos and maybe some campaign map just to show progress n stuff but yeah good shit 👌
Yeah for now I'm just making Mi-8 missions in liberation then swapping out for the Hind in DCS mission editor. I think it gets confused if you die, but as a dynamic mission generator it's working great!
please can you show me how to set your collective .. to go up or down mores slow. cant land properly because collective drop to fast . and crash .. do to losing altitude to fast.
Sounds like you may be encountering VRS (vortex ring state). If you descend straight down too fast, your rotor will essentially catch up with it's own downwash. When that happens you'll lose lift and drop like a brick. The best way to avoid this is to keep some forward speed as you descend towards your landing point. Initiate your descent by slowly and smoothly dropping your collective from its cruise setting, and start slowing down with aft cyclic. Continually adjust both throughout the descent to maintain your desired glidepath, much like you would in an airplane. As you slow down, you'll have to progressively pull some collective back up to make up for the loss of lift. Keep some forward momentum until you are low enough to enter ground effect. At that point kill your last bit of forward speed and smoothly bring your collective up to enter a controlled hover in ground effect. Note that transitioning back into a hover is probably one of the most difficult and dangerous things to learn in a helicopter. I'd recommend to practice rolling landings on a runway first. Forward momentum makes helicopters a lot more docile.
I agree with Arthur, it sounds like you are encountering VRS. One thing you can do to estimate correct landing collective setting is a hover check pre-mission. This is great practice to develop the stick-and-rudder skills involved with hovering/landing Helis, and can also help you approximate the collective setting/rotor pitch to shoot for once you come back for a full stop. Above all remember: this is really hard (especially in a heavy attack helicopter), and you're doing great if you're still trying. Hope that helps!
There could be a whole host of things going on. Are you launching from a shortcut from an older version? Using a campaign that is not compatible with the current version? What have you tried already?
@@flyingwithfrancis1104 I downloaded the latest version, tried to run exe as administrator and non admin, both times DOS screen appears briefly and thats it. I had earlier version which worked fine, but I reinstalled win a while back.
if you go on the github you can also run it locally, although that requires some developer knowledge, ping @Caster on the discord and I can tell you what you need
Liberation is a third party dynamic campaign generator for DCS World. While it's not realtime like BMS, it ensures that you get a mix of units in situations that you can't entirely predict without having to make it in the ME. Here's a link to check it out: github.com/dcs-liberation/dcs_liberation
