To celebrate halloween I decided to look at the new dead space remake coming out in 2023! Subscribe: / @oronoto The HUGE GUTS ISAAC is done by hyenaraptor: / hyenaraptor
The old school zero gravity sections from 1 are underrated in my opinion. The fact that leaving the ship had you still clinging to it for dear life added to the creepy isolating feeling of the atmosphere and ship. It was supposed to feel limiting and disorienting, people always point that out as an issue, but that was the POINT
Honestly, I'm a bit skeptical about Callisto Protocol. The story (from what I've seen and gathered) looks pretty lackluster, gameplay looks exceptionally boring and bland, the graphics and art direction look weird (they don't look bad but they don't look good either) and look pretty generic (not to mention unbalanced, did you see that kinesis module thing?), and the enemies are pretty... meh. Their designs aren't unique and I just don't find them interesting.
Dead Space is not even remotely back. The remake is comparing worse to the original in every way you can imagine other than graphical quality. Worse animation. Worse sound and sound implementation. Turning everything into fucking cutscenes. A complete disregard for the design philosophies that went into make the first game (such as not splashing fucking blood on the screen when the entire point of the HUD in Dead Space was to make you forget there's a screen between you and the horror) and a fundamental failure to understand how horror works on a basic level. And that's not even mentioning the emotionless acting in the remake that replaces the tense head butting between Kendra and Hammond. It's all a wreck but people will literally spend $70 on shinier graphics and say it was better than the original because the average consumer has no actual appreciation of the craft that goes into making these things and making them well.
