I thought the episode was an interesting insight into how absorbing fatal quantities of alien genetic material can cause your unborn baby to develop a psychiatric condition. More research is needed in this area, I feel.
I think the Meep actually first appeared in 1980 in Dr Who Weekly, not 1978. The Meep (preferred pronoun) then went on to form a New Romantic pop group called 'Phyllis & The Apocalypse'.
