Rouselle is aiming to get down with the young modern audience, you know, the one known for being loyal viewers that watch programmes religiously, buy all of the merch, etc and become life long fans... ... for one or two series, before moving onto the next Big Thing without a second thought for the previous Big Thing. Forget the real life long fans who are watching their beloved Doctor Who being bastardised and destroyed.
😂 excellent! RTD can't come up with anything new so keeps dipping in to the classic show, yet did he not make it clear on several occasions that fans who grew up on classic Who should not watch as it's not made for us. So wjy bring back Mel, Sutekh and reference Susan Foreman!? Why are UNIT in the show!? Anyway I laboured the point, thankfully only 1 more episode to go, no doubt Tennant & Tate will show up so more hugging can take place.
THE ROBOT WAS GOOD - AND AT LEAST YOU GAVE GOOD PART TO THE KID FROM CHILD FROM CHILDREN IN NEED BONNY WAS DOING WHAT VERY LITTLE, STORY REMINDED ME OF A RE HASH OF PYARMIDS OF MARS - BETTER SHOW CLEAR POLITICAL SHOT - IN THE SHOW, WITH A TAKE OF TERESA MAY TAKING TO THE STAG CAN THEY STOP CRYING - OR DO THEY KNOW THE SHOW IS RUBBISH
I enjoyed your ramble, mate. It seems that the intended "younger" audience (minute though it is) are loving it judging by all the 10/10 scores you see on twittex. Everything's a 10 for them, of course. Bless their fragile, little minds, I remember being 15-16 and making lists and ranking things. To hell with Genesis or Androzani or Inferno or Fenric or any of those old clunkers. Space Babies for the W. I say, they're welcome to it, whatever this grotesquery is, I'm happy to continue laughing at it. It's simply not for me and that's fine. I've another 200 odd, infinitely better written, Doctor Who stories to re-watch for the 50th time.
I was hoping against hope, week after week, that it wouldn't be Sutekh...It was Sutekh (or the 'anagram' of 'Susan Technology'...🙄) I am not happy about it.
An excellent, humourous and enjoyable review. I muted the sound 5 mins into this weeks dumbed down DEI wokefest, however that just made me focus more on the subtitles and the dialogue so not something i'd reccomend to anyone. This was 40 mins of people standing about talking and not really doing anything of note, then Sutekh shows up, the end. Woke filler, empty vessel characters, references to the classic series which is bizarre given Davies told all us older fans to f**k off so why do this because the young audience he was brought back to get watching couldn't give two s**ts about who Susan or Sutekh is, or Mel for that matter. Also, apart from Joe 90 and Kate Stewart there are no white people in UNIT anymore. Joe 90 is f***ed if the lifts are out of order, unless his scooter has rockets on it. What an insult to the intelligence watching this has become. Only 1 episode to go and i'm done.
I'm Just done trying to understand you people, are you genuinely alright, how do you watch an episode like this and say it's "woke". There is no focal point on these characters or political stand or allegory used with them they're just people who exist. But we can't have that can we.
@@PapaLuge As long as the doctor isn't a white straight male and there are characters that are gay or trans that get screen time and the Doctors companions are shown as being competent individuals instead of plot devices that need to be constantly saved from themselves and others, there is going to be a section of people who will simply be angry at the show. Because in their real lives they avoid all "woke" things like they might catch a disease. If they really wanted to hurt the show they would just not watch it instead of hate watching it so that they can be angry online. They are not alright.
@@PapaLuge Hi Papa, there was no ‘woken Edd’ in this episode as far as I could tell. Quite the opposite. I find the programme to be more enjoyable in French.
These videos absolutely kill me man 🤣🤣 classic Roo Cell doing the old mystery girl companion again, meanwhile 14 is sat at Donna's house watching James Bond as Sutekh destroys all of creation 🤣
It's nice to see someone vocalize your own thoughts, i also don't understand the sequence od events of this episode. It seems like nothing happened and then all of the sudden the big bad shows up do to 0 sequence of the events that occurred.
Except, Ian, he's now appeared on TV - not in a sketch or affilitated bit of media but on the series proper, so he's part of TV canon. That's how TV canon works.
I agree with your points here. Sick and tired of the mystery box girl plot dragged up again and again. Gatwa is very good at catching flies in his mouth and being in touch with human emotions. Not very Doctor-like but then RTD will use the bi-generation as an excuse to humanise him. Good points about the Tennant Doctor. If I’d written this I’d have had the new Doctor gone wrong and behaving reckless and the previous Doctor would need to return to stop him. That might have been more interesting than this underwhelming stuff.
Graham Linehan is a cautionary tale that wasting your life on hate is going to result in you becoming a sad shell of a person, someone who has lost everything, and have nobody but yourself to blame.
Great review, really liking your videos. I am far too lazy to read someone's opinions online unless they're in the telegraph of course. (I don't read the telegraph, this is a joke.) I'd make the point that the philosophical debate between gender vs sex is fundamentally constructivism vs positivism again... The sad reality is that regardless of any constructivist opinion of gender the harsh realities of biology do still indeed exist. Listening to the stories of a lot of trans people it seems the issue is we gender attire and activity and boys who wear dresses and play with dolls run the risk of having their nethers removed by overzealous parents. Im glad the Cass review has happened and hope we can get back to actually helping the victims of dysphoria rather than this being a political football initially offered up by the left and then being battered around by the right.
The real problem here is we're all imagining Patrick Troughton kissing Rogue, or even Jon Pertwee, and it rightly makes us cringe...not because they're older men from another era, but because it's not who the Doctor is.
The reveal of the Shalkra Doctor made me feel crestfallen I feel like the Grant incarnation would have been fresh and a more memorable Doctor than Tennant 2.0
I think the main problem is that this Doctor is too human he is essentially just a horny gay man. Which is fine when the character isn’t the Doctor that’s basically what Jack Harkness was and I liked him as a character. I think it takes something away from the Doctor though as he seems to just be controlled by his urges now. In his other romances he was mostly oblivious to it even with Rose he was a bit awkward and wasn’t quite sure what he felt about her till the end of the series.
Eccleston wad in that scene. Doctor who is still a show for everybody; I'm not asexual but that's never stopped me from liking the older stuff, same when the doctor was straight
Why did you so RTD when you said "our libidos drive us to some point, some of us more than others" what are you going off of? The doctor isn't above anyone because 2 through 7 had no sex drive 8. 11 isn't better for having an unreasonably high sex drive.
Totally stupid concept, with stupid looking Aliens, And no real story line. I had the right setting that could have been something good, But instead its just "THE MESSAGE" I am gay, And I am sick of "the message". Im sick of being talked down to, by the like of RTD his cronies and Gatwa etc. What I have seen so far, is totally useless. I am glad I still have my good old classic DVD collection. And dont have any of that bullshit dialog you mention coming out of ANY Aliens mouths as dialogue. The reason that RTD or Moffatt, Chibnal etc never opened the writers room to people like us, is that they are narcissists, and a lot of the stuff we would send in to them, would make them look so fucking dumb. Most of the crap I have seen so far, would have my crossed out dialogue with "red pen" all over it.
The Great Intelligence, (Withnail E Grant) entered The Doctor's timestream on Trenzalore, in The Name Of The Doctor. Also, it was said in novels that The Ninth Doctor took three forms. Although the same stories canonise Rowan Atkinson, alongside Eccleston & Shalka
Groundbreaking? What would have been groundbreaking would have been good acting, a good well written story line, something that would keep you hooked right up to the end. So far, all the episodes have been anything but.
The Dr is acting like a horny teenager on his first night out. This whole series has been infintile and poorly written fan fiction. I wish RTD would just get a twink instead of ruining this once great show with his midlife crisis
Absolutely agree with you, not only will this episode date very quickly because of the GB tv references, but there is a certain arrogant contemporocentrism exhibited by the Doctor and Ruby when they make their in-jokes about 2024 references directly in front of historical characters or when Ruby is unable to adjust her 2024 attitudes to the context of 1813. In a rather odd way, this behaviour reminds me of oafish tourists who go to foreign lands and then expect the locals to “speak their language” or act according to their own contemporary experiences. It’s like Brits going to Spain and demanding fish and chips in the local restaurant.
I love this review 😂 You’re clever enough to know a movie has to be assessed on the basis of what it proposes itself to be instead of what you’d like it was. This sounds obvious, but some critics fails miserably to understand this, acting as if silly fun movies shouldn’t have place in theaters.
