Cutting off spikes is hard but always for the best of your orchids when they need it! The silver lining: you can still enjoy them in a vase for a while. Great video, I really admire indoor growers, it’s so much harder and you’re rocking it! 😊💚

Hi Michael! I purchased your Gan Lin Golden Apple last year. It has taken to s/h very well and has given me a spike with 4 large flowers! Thank you so much for sending me such a healthy, robust plant! Now, I’m waiting on the Maxillaria Tenufolia division that I also bought from you to show me a flower spike. It has 2 new pseudo bulbs, but nothing else yet. When does it normally bloom? Renee Tracey

I’m new at growing orchids (one year) but loving it. I have three new phaleanopsis that I would like to repot into leca, but don’t know if I should while they are in bloom or use bark for now until they finish blooming before I switch medium.

Last video I watched, you made me so scared for those roots which were so darn dark and closed off to air. Please advise on the best grow lights used for orchids.

Hi Michael, I'm just getting started with orchids and have been watching a lot of videos on your channel and trying to decide if I want to try semi hydro. It looks like a lot of the plants you pointed out as doing particularly better after you repotted them are ones that had been choking themselves in semi-hydro and blocking the top of the beads from getting any airflow. Do you think they were doing bad because of the semihydro per se or mainly because they were rootbound with not enough room to go anywhere and if you had taken them out of those pots, split them up, and repotted them in three new semi hydro pots they would be doing as well as they are now in the regular media? Also, do you think you could use those Target bowls/saucers with the repotme pots with the side slits as a kind of extra-airflow semi hydro system? The idea would be that you fill the pot with leca, and then put it in the bowl filled with like an inch of water. The water level inside the pot would rise to the level in the saucer because of the holes at the bottom of the pot, but the slits on the side would give extra airflow compared to your other semi hydro setups. I kinda want to try it but you know way more about semi hydro than I do though so let me know if it's a bad idea!

Also some of my faves have white areas on their leaves that there’s like a dent and then it turns into a hole do you have any idea what’s going on? I know that’s a difficult question and you may not even see this OK happy new year Michael‼️

Hi Michael, I am trying to repot an orchid that was a gift to me. All the roots look pale tan and thin. Barely a green piece. It was solidly packed in sphagnum moss which I have painstakingly picked out. Should I cut all the roots off? It feels like that would kill it cause how will it get water?

Hello. I have a question about one of my orchids. I've just transfered her to semi hydro, with proper watering. Before that it was also in lecca, but I was watering like you should with bark. Another one that I have also converted is doing amazing, but this one keeps developing snow mold around her stem, spreading to healthy roots. I made sure to not over water and also cleaned it off of any decaing matter, as well as repotted it. The snow mold keeps showing up. What can I do to save it?

I am so confused with all the different ways to plant orchids. One of mine is very dehydrated and if I do what Orchid girl says to do, I should just put the rots on top of some sphagnum moss. You recommend the hydroponic setup. I don’t want to lose this orchid, but it’s looking pretty weak.

I'm just wondering what made you put your orchids in glass containers without access to air flow first?

With your epidendrum why not use some of those Keikis in bark ?

I remember you talked about oncidium leaf tip got burn or got brown spot , I having that issue now , how did you deal with them?
