Its a 20 hour flight from india to states, on British airways i found BBC DEEP PURPLE LIVE , it saved me , listening to it 10 times, there is a real good song on it dedicated to lord i never heard b4
The best true band I know period. Richie is the guy who still makes me excited about guitar. No fancy shredding, something higher , play the instrument like a second nature and really connect with music on a higher level . Playful, impromptu, instinctive, conviction in every note and not giving a damn and just having fun. These days we hear a lot of fancy techniques and solos that make you feel nothing .. Legends
Deep Purple were genius musicians. They were determined to be different and brave. When they first started out, a lot of people took em for granted. Now they have gone down being one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time.
I saw Purple four times live and each show was great! When you combine one of the greatest rock guitarists ever with one of the greatest keyboard players, one of the greatest singers and one of the greatest drummers, you are going to have one hell of a band!!!
what a great demonstration of virtuosity and musicianship.... every one on the stage a master on their own. !!! still give shivering almost 50 years later...!
Fabulous ... Ritchie extending the wonderful intro and Ian pounding him as if to say 'Come on ...!' Blackmore smiles and seems to be saying 'Ok! you're right now I start the riff ... 'Wonderful and brilliant!
Shout out to Ian Paice here! What a machine. Timing, swing, power and subtlety. It's amazing that he is still killing it today in 2024. Legend right there!
Love Roger Glover's bass in this song bouncing blues love. His rickenbacker playing days made that sound incredible milky bouncing and incredibly underrated bassist in rock history.
I feel bad for the current generation. I lived through this. Ian Piace just killing it, Jon Lord killing it, Blackmore killing it, Roger Glover killing it and Gillian of course. The best.
So good, and a sweet guy as well. He used to come to stay at Keystone to ski A-Basin when I was out there ski bumming. He was a very generous tipper Rode the lift with him a few times. He was quite humble but happy to share a story with a fan.
As far as I know, there's not "official footage" of those concerts in Japan during summer of '72. Just some amateur outtakes. Now, the ingenious recording capturing the band was such a surprise, that the double album was distributed around the world with the simple and iconic name "Made in Japan". Up 'till today, the absolute king of pop rock live albums.
Ian Gillan- vocal/harp; Ritchie Blackmore- guitar; Roger Glover- bass; Ian Paice- drums; and Thank God for letting us have Jon Lord (keyboards, 1941-2012, RIP), if only for far short too a time.
When some people think of DP, they think of Smoke on the Water, and that’s it. We’ll, zooom ahead to present day. Then look back at Allll the LP’s they’ve produced since Smoke on the Water. And they’re still touring. And Ian Paige, still drumming since day one. They’re had some changes over the decades, but they’re still ROCKIN’!!🤘🏻
How good is this!!! Paicey always has such a lovely sound to his dums and drumming, the drum sound on Made in Japan is still unsurpassed, even to this day. So musical, what an awesome technique he has
