Deep Purple In Rock is one of the greatest albums ever recorded

The opening of this song is the greatest start to an album ever, just straight into it, noise, massive solos, smashing rhythms, sounds like it's soaring off into outer space but then stops just at the right point and comes back down to earth.

Unbelievable musicianship and Ian Paice I believe is a criminally underrated mega drummer.

What a gem to have captured the moment at a time when music was at the peak of civilisation! I love the way the audience could sit still like watching a Mozart piano concerto :)

I love Deep Purple. Love all line ups. But the Mk II has always been my favorite. It actually took me some time to digest and learn how to love the line up with Morse. This video reminds me quite easily why. Though I think all albums with Morse are great, they all miss one simple thing... called Ritchie Blackmore. What a fantastic guitar player he is.

I heard an interview on the radio from a US musician, for the life of me I can't remember who, but he said it was the British that revitalized US Blues music. He named Deep Purple, Led Zep and Cream. He said if it wasn't for their fascination with US Blues music, Blues would've gone the way of Jazz - still there but not Blues as we know it. As I watch this I see what he was saying..
