I have terminal cancer as well. Where would I get a relic? My local priest is not being very helpful.

@michaelcallisto I hope this helps. You can get a second class relic from the Seelos Center in New Orleans, LA and order a prayer card too. The relics are all by donation to cover postage costs and free will gifts. So they are not sold. You can go to the website. It was in 2015 that my Dad was healed. He is now 94. I'm still figuring out how I feel about relics. I always see 2 Kings 13:21 cited to explain their power. I think "The Story of Relics" on the Patristix channel would be a good companion piece to Father Pine's video.

2 Kings 18:4 has nothing to do with honoring relics. Hezekiah destroyed the serpent which Moses had created because, as the very verse described, the Jews had begun to *worship* the staff as if it were a deity (even giving it a name) by giving offerings to *it*. They did not destroy the staff because the Jews were giving due honor to it (after all, is that not what they did in the desert?) By giving offerings to a staff, they violate the first commandment. This is why later in the same chapter it is said that Hezekiah kept to the commandments of the Lord. He did what was right in the sight of the lord by removing false Idols. “He did what was right in the sight of the Lord just as his ancestor David had done. He removed the high places, broke down the pillars, and cut down the sacred pole. He broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the people of Israel had made offerings to it; it was called Nehushtan.” ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭18‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NRSV

@@zeektm1762 based on your argument, can we then say that bowing to a relic is worshipping it. This is said in Exodus 20:5. Your argument is that praying or bowing to a relic is fine. But if you give it sacrifices it is worship. It comes down to defining worship. In OT they worshipped with sacrifices. Now we don't. Now we worship with prayer, songs, etc. But it's still not worship to pray to a relic even that is one way we worship God. Also, I don't think a holy OT Jew would pray to a relic. They would call it worshipping an idol. Seems odd the RCC can justify it in the new covenant. By whose authority?

@@someguy1222 Worshipping an object as if it is God involves divinizing it. Worshipping your mother or father (as an early Protestant translation worded Jesus’ words), or worshipping King David, or worshipping Angels is their veneration. That being, giving due honor for where it is due.

We can’t change the past nor should we ever imagine it. Such thoughts might be dangerous. God leads us through our own way, it doesn’t matter how tortuous it has been if we trust in Him.

@@LorenzoLozziGallo-rg8bf I only returned to the church a few years ago, and I am a lay religious. I can be very zealous as well. You just have to remember that it’s okay to turn the serious faith and theology mode off and have some fun.

Have you read about the scientific research that’s been done? It’s a long show but I highly recommend listening to Pints with Aquinas episode on the shroud. Really in-depth information on it.

You're not the only one. And as you probably know, Catholics are not required to believe it, so you're fine.

I’m curious how you think they faked it, if it is fake… cause the level of detail and people have tried to recreate it and it’s been very difficult to say the least.
