It’s true what she says, I’ve lived amongst people like this & I’ve lived in private estates & let me tell you them people with nowt would give you their last to help you, proper community good people that hasn’t been as fortunate as others !
Spot on. I grew up on a council estate and it was the part of my life. Everyone left their doors open, kids would run I'm and out, everyone was close, we all had nothing but gave everything to eachother
so many of those private estate people are all for show - not as much as a tin of beans in the cupboard but so long as they have the latest and greatest car etc
I was born and bred 2 streets over from James Turner street and went to Foundry Road school in the next street. I walked down that street every single day for years in the early 1970's. Best days of my life and i'm forever a true Brummie at heart. Over the road was Winson Green prison and All Saints mental asylum. Lets just say we lived a very colourful life in those surroundings. Sounds like hell to some but i wouldn't change it for the world.
@@joannemorrall3332 Ignore Aholes on here . True brum my self l live in Coventry now . But yeah ignore the top comment back to you the haven’t a clue who you are also how do you know they have a job . F..k em It’s just RU-vid comments 😂
@@vanessaburridge2779 Bless you thats much appreciated. I'm in Tamworth now but forever a Brummie at heart. I loved growing up in Handsworth or "The Green" as its known. I was only a kid but honestly i loved my little life there. Bless you again lovely.
Wow really a Legend!? Sitting on here Arse all day doing F-k all while hard working people like me are going out earning money. Paying taxes . Giving my kids a better life. And the end of the day we all make life choices. She wants to be a Lazy cow 🐄 fair play to her. She is not a bloody Hero!
I personally can't speak on this lady (as I know little about her), but statistically only 1% of people abuse the system, most have just fallen on bad times and/or an unfortunate set of circumstances has led to them not having the confidence to go to work (Covid played a huge role in this). My Brother at one point was the bread winner of his family, he took pride in it, he was a former soldier who thought in Iraq (soldiers aren't political, they go where they are told, but this didn't stop people hating on him), he got divorced, lost his daughter (my niece) to Cancer, he developed an addiction to gambling then alcohol, he became medically disqualified from operating any kind of machinery, so he went on benefits (this would have only lasted 5 years, as he was in therapy), then shows like Benefits Street come out, and he couldn't even go to the Pub without someone saying "my Taxes paid for that Beer", he sadly took his own life, he was the perfect example of "don't judge me until you have walked in my shoes".
@@user-io2et5bv2s It's kind on common knowledge. But I should ask you the opposite, where did you her the 99% from? The folks who are too lazy to work.
Such a tragedy for your brother. So sorry that you lost him. A once proud man who lost his confidence through no fault of his own. It illustrates that others need to be not so quick to pass judgement. People can be so cruel.
@@mariancounsellor Let me guess, you think 90% of people abuse the system? Go into a working class area, the majority of people are nothing like how the are described in the Media and on TV, your Black, you should know how damaging false narratives can be.
Would love to see her more on T.V. Shes seems to have that rare characteristic of being able to think for herself, and not follow the crowd. She's a natural leader, a warm hearted kind one. I believe if she were born from a different background/ starting block, she'd be a CEO of a corporate company, or have some kind of high end job.
Dee Kelly ❤️has just got a wonderfully gentle and kind soul we need more Dee Kelly's in the world big heart big personality I do absolutely love love love her so very very much she's the best of British ❤️💚🖤💜💙❤️💜💙♥️💗💚🖤🖤💚💗♥️💙💜❤️💋💋💋💋🇬🇧
Absolutely love Dee! I just love how she mothered and looked after everyone. She was definitely the comforting mother of the street and I think everyone felt like they could go to her with any issue and she wouldnt judge. I feel like everyone needs a "Dee" in their life.
@@shadowsofasiren Great response, but it's still a stretch for me. Legend to me equals Mohammed Ali and people of that ilk (my mother too) but some has been TV reality personality? Noooooo
@Coco-uk9tv I completely respect your opinion, and also agree those who are legends to you are worthy of that title, absolutely! 😊 I think the underlying statements here retain to what being a 'legend' means to each individual. I personally, and ofcourse you are completely entitled to your own meaning of legend, percieve a legend to be one of those that have enriched others so to speak. This lady did alot for her community, and although yes, you are completely correct she was just a reality TV star to the nation, to her community and those she had a positive impact on, will be held to a higher standard. And I think, any human.. being recognised publicly or being seen only by those who have known them as somebody showing up for them when times get tough, is for me.. a little bit of a legend. 😊🙌🏽
Always had THE best work ethic and ended up on benefits THIS lady single handedly changed how we are seen without wanting any kind of celebrity status, we don't appreciate her enough to this day...AND she still doesn't claim any right to fame..A true celebrity x
@biegebythesea6775 Nope! Proud mum and Brit. Do you think it's OK to raise your children on benefits? Letting the taxpayers feed, clothe, and buy their birthday and Christmas presents? My friend said to me, "I bought my daughter this for Christmas. I replied no I did." She was claiming benefits, so the taxpayers bought her daughters Christmas present.
@@karenrobinson129 Then you should be ashamed to sound like an American. Yes I do think it's okay. She is also a taxpayer who will have paid for you. I am a taxpayer and I think it's okay. Go anfd shame companies for not paying their staff enough (especially women) so that they can do all of those things without benefits.
@@biegebythesea6775 using the whataboutary on companies doesn’t mean it’s ok to sit on benefits, show your children a good work ethic / socialising I don’t believe you are a tax payer 🤣
It's true. so many middle-class people have no intelligence despite them thinking they do. Working class is where you find true spirit, and a real awareness.
@@freespeechadvocate7492 work shy? There's usually a real reason why someone may be "work shy" but if you're a tory, your teeny tiny little conservative brain cannot comprehend why or how but throwing millions of £££s at already wealthy people is ok because corruption is fine, it's the tory way, right?
The bar is set so low these days - some overweight woman on benefits can now be considered a celebrity, after sharing her story on television. A potato food van (spudman) people consider a celebrity, asking for selfies, travelling from across the world to see him and his potatoes Society is so done - never have we hit such lowa
This series was an absolute inspiration for my sister. Just after this aired she gave up her job as a teacher and went on benefits. She never looked back . Now her daughter has followed in her footsteps. She has no intention of getting a job . My Hero ❤️ 👏
She didn't produce the programme. Why didn't they make one about the real benefits street - Downing street with MPs claiming hundreds of thousands in expenses, even trying to claim for moats and heating stables.
Universal credit was part of the 2012 Welfare Reform Act, along with the bedroom tax and Work Capability Assessments. Oh and the Work Programme, which failed to get most people into work.
The female host who has lived in the States for years, how has she bagged a privileged position on this programme. Why is that ? When there are dedicated newsreaders waiting for their chance to do this position
@@user-vt9sm9yq7c well, firstly 'This Morning' don't employ newsreaders to present the show. Secondly, I would imagine she 'bagged this privileged position' by being experienced enough to do the job effectively. Hope that answers your question. I'm guessing you just don't like her, which is more your issue than anything else.
