It’s a shame them children think they parents aren’t doing anything wrong, it’s call Lot rent you can’t just park your trailer on side of road an trash the surrounding areas

It’s a shame as a lot of these children won’t realise it’s the behaviour of the parents that harbours such resentment of the settlement community - illegally moving on public land, leaving trash everywhere, overpriced work for very low quality cash in hand work. And will grow up in a vicious cycle

The SHAME is their parents fault. That guy said "we want a home" meaning land. Well, buy some like everyone else across the world. Buy 20 acres and set up a campsite. If you have 50k to buy a new trailer, you have money to buy land. Those poor children are raised up with hate thinking society hates them and that's not true. Society doesn't want their parents living for free, even on government land. It's absolute child neglect that those parents don't send their children to school.

Why are the trailers immaculate but they leave rubbish outside and make a mess ??

I feel so heartbroken for the young man who cleared up the area with his dad I also feel sorry for all the kids it’s awful

I’m not surprised the locals complain! Look at all that crap lying around. Those poor kids - they know no different so the cycle will continue.

It would probably help if they kept the outside area as clean as they do the inside.

No issues with them, actually some of them are really nice people. The only problem I have is when they throw rubbish everywhere and expect other people to clean up after them.

It infuriates me that the councils spend $18m a year evicting travellers when surely they can buy some land for cheaper than that and give them infrastructure to live their lives peacefully. I feel for them. They must constantly feel persecuted and stressed

Okay maybe I don't understand because I am an American.....but do these people actually believe that wherever they choose to live tney deserve to have access to utilities like free water....electricity and a safe environment? From what I understand most people understand that you need to pay for those utilities.

21:30 They had a place to live where they were pay rent and were kicked out In desperation, they move to a place full of rubbish and they even clean it up. Yet the town wants to evict them. For what? They are choosing to settle! They should help them settle down.😢

Perhaps if they didn't destroy every piece of land they stayed/broke into and left copious amount of rubbish, and perhaps if they didn't shoplift/steal whilst also destroying the shops and perhaps if they didn't eat at restaurants then walk out without paying while leaving a mess. Just then maybe we would be a little bit more tolerant, but as far as I can tell they always have the bad attitude and show disrespect first

Top of the range caravans and clothes etc so why can't they buy land, all travelers chip in and buy land to park on? I don't get it

So sad the children don’t understand that their parent could give them a permanent home. Like the boy said it wouldn’t matter if you were in a permanent place you are a traveler in your blood.

Why do they complain so much about having to leave and move? They are travellers,as they keep saying,and the clue is in the word Travel,people who travel,roam,nomad. If you are going to stay in one place in a dwelling, then you are not a traveller.

They are teaching their children to not respect authorities and to see the authorities as the bad guy . The parents are the bad guys for not having a decent home for their kids . This kids will grow up as a problem to society.

Instead of paying millions to people to move them every 5 days, they should just build sites! poor community and children. Also the dad at 32:20 was super genuine and a great father, installing good values in his son.

Poor kids dont understand the real reason or the word freeloader. Going to school and understanding why it's important for everyone to pay for where they live. If they had places, they could stop and stay and just pay each place for the bathrooms and clean up. Maybe these wouldn't be such a problem. These people are not teaching their kids the correct reasons all they know is what their parents are teaching which teaching them to hate police is just continuing this out of control people generation after generations

Seems crazy that there’s council housing estates, paid for with the benefits tenants receive from the government yet they can’t put up a few trailer parks in unused areas for them. It would have to be cheaper in the long run. An ammenities block, a water spigot and rubbish bins is all it would take. I’m sure they would use the bins if they were available. If it’s anything like australia it’s actually hard to dispose of more than a grocery sized bag of rubbish. All public bins have very small openings or a stopper preventing you from opening it more than about 10 inches. Are there any old, run down caravan parks the councils could acquire? A few of those located throughout the country would be all it would take. I guess residents would all complain and not want them located near them though. Even in a park. Do travellers receive government benefits? If they do it would seem simple enough to withhold a small portion to cover the cost of accomodating them somewhere and withhold more if they are not located within one of these areas. I actually think it would be a great lifestyle if you could travel around to these different areas, stay for a few months or for the school year perhaps and then move on to the next one. This episode highlighted the negative aspects of the travellers lifestyle but there are positives. For one thing, the kids were a lot more active. I didn’t see an overweight one among them. They have a lot of practical skills most teens (and adults) these days don’t. Most don’t even know how to change a tyre. Anyway… just some of my thoughts on it. It’s a problem that isn’t just going to go away and the current method of evicting them is expensive and ineffective. They have to go somewhere. Even in public housing it would still be costing the government. That one guy painting and cleaning up the dump seemed like a decent, level headed guy. Why are councils not working with members of the traveller community like him to find solutions.

They move every 2 years because theres a high possibility they scam landlords. Its takes around 2 years for the eviction process unless the landlord expedites the process to the high courts.

They are not Gypsies they are Irish travellers, real Gypsies are Romanies.

I actually have a story about gypsys.There was around 100 caravans parked in the park ,which is like a ten second walk from my house,and they stayed there for a couple of nights but after they left our park was absolutely ruined there was rubbish everywhere.

We cant pick and choose where we live we have to play by the rules and pay rent, water rates, gas, electricity, council tax.

Nothing wrong with travellers, if the council can pay that much to keep evicting them they should give them open spaces to live.

If they did not force barriers drive over the ruby pitch to get in and then dump their rubbish every where . get paid to clear peoples garden etc. but dump it on in the woods and use our woods as a toilet then maybe people would be more welcoming !!!

These adorable children are breaking my heart. I am sitting here crying for them all, they don't ask to be born into this life, they just have to deal with their lot. Its such a shame that the parents have to keep moving them all the time and they can't go to school because of it. They are charming, well mannered, clean and intelligent, I think if someone spoke to them about some of the issues like litter etc, they would probably take it upon themselves to clean up the site regularly and do the right thing, because I think they just don't notice all the rubbish that they leave around the site. They just want what we all have, a permanent home, running water, toilets etc. If the council could make them see that they need to pay for their water and toilets maybe they could allow them some council land to live on. I just feel so bad for the lovely little character children, they deserve to go to school and live a good, happy life.

Why can't they just go a caravan site + pay site fees? Irish travellers seems to be the worst re behaviour etc, the poor kids grow up with a huge chip on their shoulders. Parents to blame 100%

American Gypsies live in homes and own trailers for the most part. They live very clean here regardless if its in a one bedroom or mansion.

Being a Traveler or a Gypsy isn't just about moving around. It's their culture. That's the way they have lived for hundreds of years. I'm glad that they're showing their way of life so that we can understand their culture. I'm a historian and I enjoy learning about other people's cultures.

I wonder how the socials don’t get involved. Surely , if my children don’t go to school they will come and knock on my door.

Pick up ya litter and don’t trash the place you’re staying in, and maybe you will be more welcomed by the general public. And not parking up in places that are required by people, e.g schools, football fields cause you wreck the land where kids learn and play

It’s the children who are suffering. 💯 and that’s what’s the saddest bit about the whole situation. They’re not getting an education so they can have the choice to stay in lifestyle or get out. I would think they could have camping sites you pay to stay at and use the basic amenities? The States has plenty of them. But again, they are travelers… are they not used to traveling around?

Gypsies used to have a bad name but most of them are lovely people. Good and bad like us all different like us. They have to site up somewhere

I understand that the nomadic life is part of their lives, traditions and culture but if they set camp someplace they need to respect the space, keep it clean and no one would have as big a problem with them.

I do find it difficult to understand their mindset. One minute they say they couldn't live in a house and travelling is part of their culture. The next minute they say they hate having to keep travelling and moving on. They say they have done nothing wrong while surrounded by the destruction and rubbish they have created. They say they want a proper place to stay and yet they have that opportunity as much as anyone else does.

they may keep their homes tidy but it's what they do to outer surroundings which causes problems. absolutely filthy.! but the kids sure are cute!

I don't get the traveller thing. I don't care if its a "tradition" or something, just settle down in a house! Its terrible for a kid to have to move almost every year and constantly have to make new friends, especially when they're that young. I guess they just dont care enough about their children's development.

Its really lovely to hear the children explaining things. Im so glad to have stumbled across this film. I really hope they find some welcoming sites and especially that those children that havent had the chance to go to school do so. The 18 million should be spent on traveller sites instead. The 8 year girl riding her quad bike at high speed, no helmet...very dangerous. Sad to see the antisocial behaviour from young children towards police. Just mimicking their parents clearly.

Make a campground for the Travelers. If they pay rent, and keep it clean, I'm sure things would work out. Create a park like space for them, with electrical plug in, and sewer. They teach their children, the most important thing, God, and Bible. Sure, they have to say "bye", same as any other child. Family is of more import. They are different than most children. They behave much older, and have the right idea, about moving on.

Personally i feel sorry for the kids. They didn't choose this and probably enjoy the stability of a school. I didn't have a problem with gypsies until one night we were driving home past a site and they shone laser pens at the car to get us to crash. Scary. They also nicked the copper from people's drain pipes and left a mess for the council to clean up. No smoke without fire, sadly 😢

There are good and bad in all communities. I've meet so lovely travellers and some bad. But there are more good than bad. The sad thing is the children have to grow up fast as they see this. If the council made sites wouldn't it cost less than eviction and clean ups. Let children be children. They love their children like none travellers love our children.

I have no problem with travelers, i have no problem with any neighbours as long as people are decent to there neighbours. I dont have ridiculous standards just dont leave rubbish around and no crime. A bonus is keep your eye out for your neighbours, if you see anyone trying to break into your neighbours house/trailer call the police and check on elderly neighbours both of which I do and I dont care if that elderly neighbour is a traveler or not I always check in see if they need anything cause I'd hope my Nanas neighbours do the same.

They are not always on assistance. They lot of the men work in construction or day laborers. Some do paving jobs. They make good money. They just follow tradition.

These are not gypsies . Gypsies are dark and originate from India. These people belong to the native population genetically,only difference is that they have chosen that kind of life ,maybe bcs of the need to move according to their work. Beautiful children ,intelligent , wise , educated . Maybe they should think to settle down somewhere and give up the old lifestyle. Anyway ,they should be given a place to stay in peace and be able to pay rent for it .Everybody has the right to have a place under the sun.
