Hi Treicy, Delay in your period doesn’t mean the pill didn’t work. Period delay is a normal outcome of the emergency pill for *some* women - even 7 days or a little more. Just to encourage someone out there, I saw my period on 24th-27th Dec and had unprotected sex on the 28th dec! Even though I was sure he did withdrawal method but don’t want to take chances, I took contraceptives within 48hrs difference!! My menstrual cycle is 28days which my next period is supposed to come on the 20th of Jan. I was panicking and was so scared did series of home pregnancy test and it came out all negative. I was 11days late. But it later came on the last day of the month on the 31st Jan -4th Feb. sometimes anxiety and hormonal imbalance delays period.
Okay just to help other people out- It was probably my fertile window but I don't keep track of my period so I'm not sure. I took the unwanted 72 pill within 24 hours on 13th June. I didn't have any side effects until about a week later (20th June) I had some bleeding. It wasn't exactly spotting but it wasn't a normal period either. I was worried that it could be implantation bleeding but I read that implantation bleeding is usually lighter and not as common as people would think. I guess it was withdrawal bleeding from the pill. It lasted for about 4 days. My period was supposed to start on 28th June but it didn't come. In fact, I completely missed it. I took 3 tests. One on the fourth day of missing period and one a week after missing it. And another one a few days after that. All negative. I didn't have my period the whole month and I was worried sick. But today, on 28th July, I got my period. So basically I missed my period for a whole month and got it right on time the next month. Hope this helps
Mine Came the usual time that same month of taking the pills but did not come the entire next month Took 2 pregnancy test and it was negative so waiting if it will come the 3rd month

This might help someone here. I took plan b twice in January one pill after my period and another before ovulation. my next period was to come on 14th Feb but never came till 29th of March. I was going for different test wondering what could be wrong knowing fully well I wasn't pregnant 😂 not a funny experience at all

Hi Naomi Yes it’s possible. Don’t assume that because you haven’t seen the period, your ovaries are not working to release an egg. Use extra protection like a condom or emergency pill if you need to. Thanks!

Some ladies experience cramps after taking the emergency pill. You can do a pregnancy test once its 2-3 weeks after sex to check. If the pain gets severe or you feel more ill, visit a clinic / ED asap.
Yes, it certainly can affect periods in the months after taking the pill - this happens to different degrees in women, and we don't know why some women seem to continue the regular cycle after a plan b, while others don't.

Hi, plan b can delay your period. But theres no way we can tell if its worked till some days after. Usually a pregnancy test 2/3 weeks after you had unprotected sex, will have the answer. Its reasonable to wait a few weeks (if you dont have symptoms), before speaking to your Dr if the periods are still absent. Please try not to worry, meanwhile.

I took Aftera, the CVS version of Plan B, within about 4 or 5 hours after a condom filled with semen got stuck deep inside. My partner pulled it out within minutes. But I'm worried because I have an irregular cycle and not sure if I was ovulating. Took the pill about 4 nights ago still no side-effects yet. My period, if basing it on last month, could still be over a week away. I'm scared.
Unless you use regular protection or choose the copper coil for an emergency, you will always have this concern. There's no way to know till you do the pregnancy test in a couple of weeks.

Hello Brenda, If you had sex 4/5 days ago, it’s too early for a pregnancy test. These symptoms could be a side effect of the pill - but if the pain is severe and getting worse please go to the hospital. If they are quite mild, they are likely from the pill but you should watch for your actual period around the usual time. If that period is late by more than 7 days, then do a pregnancy test. Plan b can delay periods sometimes. You can be patient, and usually, the cycle will return to normal unless there's another cause of delayed periods, in which case you should see your doctor.

@@JennellBarrett Hi, when you take it before ovulation, the pill will delay ovulation for about 5 days. Then you will ovulate - it doesn't prevent it. But there are some times of your cycle when you have already ovulated - such as just after your period. So your cycle is likely resuming and you will ovulate - but we can't predict when it may happen.

Hello Ndia, The effect of the pill on your periods can depend on which half of your cycle you took it, how many times you used the EC pill in the last cycle, and whether you are using any other hormone like regular contraception and so on. Did you experience any bleeding after taking the pill in December? To be quite certain, you can ask your doctor for a blood pregnancy test (especially if you have pregnancy symptoms like breast tenderness or nausea). If that is negative, and the period hasn't arrived by the end of January, you should have a chat with your doctor to address any other causes. Best Wishes!

Hi, you can repeat the test after a week to confirm, and if it's still negative while your period is delayed without any other symptoms, it's likely an effect of the pill.
I have been 3 days late on my period but I did take an Ella contraceptive and a plan b twice in one month before my next cycle which was supposed to be March 19th. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative but this is the first time I have ever had taken two contraceptives in one month. If it helps my cycle is 27 days and lasts 4 days.
Your cycle (ovulation) doesn’t immediately return for a few weeks after a termination. Even then, it’s a big risk to do it without protection - the pill isn’t always effective.
My girlfriend took plan b around 10 am, around 3pm she developed a stomach ache ,felt as if she wants to vomit and around 5pm she took milk can the pill still work 🤨 or I should buy another pill ???
Hi Brian, as long as she did not vomit within 2-3 hours of taking the pill it's been absorbed. The tummy ache may be a the pill side effect and should only be mild and short-lived.
