I flew on RCAF 707’s many times. Including to Lahr. Shearwater was a great airport to depart from. You usually headed out over the Atlantic before heading west to Ottawa or Trenton.
I started off in the back of the CC-137 and then a few years later they bought in the CC-150's. Big upgrade in comfort and quite. I can't wait for a decent A-330 to make it into MSFS so I can throw this grey livery on it and start doing some CC-330 ops. Over the last year I've had the MSFS CC-150 (A310) criss crossing the world recreating real world flights I took to places like Thule, Lahr, Ancona and Nairobi, to name a few. Loads of fun.
me too! the first one I flew in was 1974, then a number of trips across the pond from 1979 - 1985. That was in the days of smoking onboard! Smokers up front, non-smokers in the rear...lol Civilan airliners being the opposite.
Excellent vid. The grey color is interesting but I like the CC330 Husky in white/blue in Calgary recently. Cheers to he RCAF from the USAF! CMSgt Bob, USAF(Ret) 1965-2000
In the next months 2 more Kuwait Airways A330 will be painted up to the Canadian Air Force one of them in a dark blue. You will see all these videos on my channel!. This is the first blue CC-330, but the second one is currently in the original Kuwait Airways livery. In about 4 weeks this CC-330 will get the new blue livery of the RCAF. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i9lFDxTLD7E.html
The white/blue/red aircraft has a VIP configuration for use by the government on diplomatic trips. It's pretty much our Air Force One. It can also be converted for use as a troop transport or air tanker if needed.
@@lookup49 it's the Royal Canadian Air Force by virtue of having the title granted by King George V in 1923, when it was still the Canadian Air Force. And as the Royal Canadian Air Force it would reach its peak as the fourth largest air force in the world by the end of the Second World War. Later, one yahoo would drop the title with the amalgamation of the various military branches into the Canadian Armed Forces, with the replacement of RCAF with various "commands", before all air units were combined into an "Air Command". All that accomplished was to damage esprit de corps, before the title RCAF was re-established almost 50 years later.
Bet that's a much nicer ride than the old North Star we returned from Dad's 4 year posting in France in 1962! 1-Wing Marville to Trenton non-stop (think it was about 11 hours).
@@AUmarcus What's that got to do with "new for the military" You do realize the CC-150, the aircraft these are replacing, were originally Wardair aircraft from 1987. Seeing as Canada bought 5 A330 aircraft for the same price as buying 1 new A330, and seeing as they should be able to squeeze another 27-28 years out of them (Kuwait Airlines got them new in late 2015)..new for the military. Used aircraft are not like used cars. Plus all retrofitting to MRTT status is being done by Airbus. And just to place you fears to rest, an additional 4 brand new MRTT units will be built by Airbus.
OK, I know you're probably very excited to see the RCAF get a new airplane, or you've probably never seen an airplane take off before, but be a little more gentle on the superlatives.
excuse, what is the problem in what I said, watching a plane that huge take off is absolutely breathtaking and yes I have seen planes take off, don't like what I said too bad
Und es kommen noch 2 weitere Kuwait A330 zur RCAF insgesamt werden es 4 stück sein. Und alle werden in basel ausgerüstet und gewartet bis sie auf übersee gehen.
I flew from CFB Trenton to Brize Norton to Tel Aviv in 1998 aboard one of our CC150 Polaris A310's. It was a huge improvement over the CC130's that we had been ferried around North America in! While in Trenton I toured the Polaris set up for VIP transport and actually sat in PM Jean Chretien's seat. I should have left a huge steaming turd on his seat.
Extraordinary footage, and certainly looking forward to seeing more contents in the coming of times, keep up the fantastic work and keep the momentum’s up as evermore. Hoping you had a great time in the makings of this and always for the previous contents. 😉🛩️✈️💯👍✨
Another gray and a white-blue-red model will be added, and these CC-330s will replace the A310s!. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i9lFDxTLD7E.html
Hi, first of all thank you for your feedback. I am using Sony RX10 IV. but this camera is very unstabilized and I need to edit it on Premiere pro, then I stabilize the footage to a good video .
It looked to me as though all flaps were extended to about 30°. Not sure what you mean by 1 flap, did you mean flaps on one wing only? I don’t think it would be possible to get this airplane off the ground in that configuration because the opposite wing would be stalled.
The PM doesn't have a plane exclusive to him, like the President does for example. For instance, the CC150 that was used for VIP transport, was also used for military use as needed.
Why? Every aircraft manufacturer has had its problems of one sort or another and if the RCAF bought Boeing they would have got the 777 which is one of the safest aircraft ever built with no hull losses recorded. The top two safest aircraft in the world are the Boeing 717 and the 777 and three of the top 4 are Boeing. The A330 has been involved in 14 complete loss incidents with 338 fatalities. Don't you want the best for our servicemen and women?
There are some locations that can not accommodate a330-900 because of wing span. You have two choices fly a 787 or an older a330. Since rcaf already have pilots trained on a330 based aircraft this made sense for them. 64 meter vs less than 61 meters on the -300 variant. Same with the 787 wing span because it’s less than 61 meters.
I will say this is the first aircraft to have a boom style refueling point as well as two wing tip refuel ports. The real question i have is what trade will the boom operator be. I was thinking flight engineer but could also be aero mechinical position
This seems to be a pure passenger plane. How do we justify spending so many taxpayer dollars on that, when if we need to move passengers there are tons of commercial alternatives?? My feeling is that for Canada, any large aircraft we purchase for military use should be multi roll. They should be firstly a cargo plane, with real capacity, that can be configured for freight, with large opening cargo bay doors. That same aircraft should have a seating option to convert it for passengers in very short order by sliding in the passenger module. Given that our wilderness is so prone to wildfires now, that aircraft should also be configurable as a water bomber, with a slide in bladder or tank and readily mountable water or fire suppressant dispersal gear. We always seem to end up with a stable of 'one trick ponies' and seldom have what we really need when we really need it. For the Canadian military, I believe we need multi-role equipment.
Try reading up on what is available for the C130 Hercules. All of those requirements you rattled off exist in US inventory, so we can buy them when we need them. As for general knowledge of aviation transportation, you need to step back and realize that the long range capability of a heavy jet transport cannot be equaled with a tactical transport aircraft while maintaining the versatility that is required of a smaller, VSTOL airframe adapted to rough field operations. The A330 is a COMBI airframe, so it can handle longer range freight and passenger duty. It is useless for tactical transport, because that is not what it is designed for. If you want a jet that “does it all”, you’re now talking about buying the C5 Galaxy from the yanks. Canada simply does not have the money to support such a behemoth of an aircraft. Anyway, all this is moot, as Trudeau doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the Canadian Armed Forces. His old man started the process of destroying our Armed Forces, and the only person who put any money into the operation was Mulroney (who spent $1,000,000,000 on Air Defence weapons the year before the Cold War ended - all those weapons are long scrapped). If you actually want to make a difference, get off RU-vid and go write your MP, tell them to fund the CF properly.
what is with the horizontal tail fin? it look like it was not painted after welding 🤔 Maybe a stealth feature to make it look like a current Russian😇 plane
you really need an education . try some research apologies can always be submitted later. unfortunately historically the other guiys don't support with the needed additions just verbal bull.surprise !!!!!@@TonyA4766
The RCAF has also converted A330s to A330 MRTTs but 5 aircraft are purely passenger aircraft for troop transport and government flights. Two former Kuwait Airways A330s have already been delivered and a third is currently being converted here in Basel.
So will this be an executive version for flying round government ministers etc or will they be adding the refueling equipment in Canada in the near future?
Supposedly 8 of the 9 will be MRTT (four converted and four brand new) and then the one configured for VIP use. If it's anything like the CC150 fleet, the VIP version will also be used for military uses as needed. I don't think they will be transporting ministers but more so PM, Governor General, Royal Family when they come to Canada etc.
Thank you, Canada for purchasing the A330 with Rolls Royce Turbine engines. The former British PM Johnson purchased two Dassault Falcon 900 LX for government ministerial travel, which contains ZERO British content. Had Johnson purchased the Bombardier Challenger or Global they both contain aero parts manufactured in Belfast, NI, UK. In the case of Global, their turbine engines are Rolls Royce Deutschland. Cheers Canada let's have more fairer and freer trade between Canada and the UK. Let us stop the CHINESE from walking all over Canada and the UK and implement an EQUAL TRADE POLICY. Just say NO to Chinese EVs till we have equal trade.
They are idiots. I agree, but they will go away eventually people are sick of them. People in the United States are sick of them too just like we are sick of Joe, Biden, and Barack Obama who incidentally, I think is behind-the-scenes, pulling the strings. Believe me, I think American leaders are much worse than Canadian leaders right now or at least they’re all as bad as each other.
vacations. now meetings all pm's must attend are vacations how maga of you . does that mean that anytime PP travels he will also be on vacation; no didn't think so
@@AeroProductions747 We all are entitled to our opinions. I worked around thousands of aircraft over the years and I simply don’t like this airplane. It’s ugly and outdated in style even if it’s new! If they wanted to stick with Airbus, get in the 2020’s and go with the A350. Longer range and more fuel efficient. Now that’s my two cents.
