God, imagine getting to the point of finding a small secret in, like, Chapter 6 that’s only possible by very specific dialogue options across the previous chapters.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but in Chapter 2, in the scene where Susie and Toriel are baking a cake, Toriel says, "Ok, Where the hell is Kris?" and Susie responds with, "Toriel?" This seems to be a callback to the Pacifist Ending of Undertale, where Toriel says, "Who the hell is Sans?" and Alphys responds in the same way, by saying, "Toriel?"

One of ambyu-lance's flavor text is something like "Ambyu-lance is comparing the battle to a trip to the dentist" wich could be a reference of how Asgore, in Undertale, before his fight, says something like "Are you nervous? I am too. Just think of it like... a trip to the dentist."

Not specifically Deltarune related, but the Don't Forget Leitmotif can be heard in Snowdin Town's theme at 0:33. I thought it was a coincidence at first, but I remembered that Snowdin Town is where Sans' lab with the "Don't Forget" photo is located. Also Toby mentioned that some of the Deltarune melodies were written before Undertale came out, so it's entirely possible it was intentional.

At 29:30 ... I feel like the other "incomplete" side of Kris's dark world room is a reference to the room Toriel gives us in the Ruins back in Undertale. That wardrobe is one to one, the floorboards are almost one to one, and the bookcase is basically the exact same... it's just missing the books on the shelves and the flower picture on top.

18:55 the other Virovirokun says "I'm the fever, I'm the chill" which is definitely a reference to Dr Mario, a game in which you fight off viruses, there are also two music track in Dr Mario called "Fever" and "Chill"

When we arrive at the palace, the Queen says to Noelle: "If you don't listen then a certain bird might take a ride in the acid river." The first time you leave the duck in the acid river (when that giant hand is blocking the way), you can check the duck, and it says "Looks like a certain bird is having a ride on the acid river". Maybe it's not that meaningful, but I think it means that THAT was the bird she was talking about, not Berdly. Queen was just trying to make Noelle join her by IMPLICATING that she was going to throw him in the acid river. Or maybe is just a callback. Either way, it's a cool detail.

4:57 if you call after hearing her conversation with alphys, it will be the same, but instead of “you made a trash orb? Could you explain what you mean by that”, Toriel will say “you’re normal? Could you explain what you mean by that” playing off of the fact that Alphys said Kris is normal after seeing them with the trash orb

The "throne of gods" is based on a silly thing kids do in elementary school where they stack a bunch of chairs up and then jump up on to them so they can be really high up. It was a really common practice when I was that age.

3:01 actually, there's a difference between flavor text with and without parentheses. without brackets, it's either more purely observational, or has some kind of meta joke. But with brackets, it's often more humorous or feels more applicable to Kris' perspective. As an example, the "Reocurring bakesales" line in chapter 1 is not written in parentheses. But the police station newspaper (along with the "there's no need to read any more" line that goes with it.) in Chapter 2 IS. As for the TV. Kris being the one pointing it out would imply that they were the one who plugged it in.

The pie that Berdly brings, along with the fact that it’s called “Gamer’s Delight” could be a reference to the Mountain Dew and Dorito cheesecake image

Catty's dad calling Asriel a big shot and *then* Spamton showing up makes it seem like Spamton's preying on Kris' personal hopes or jealousies. And since we know Queen is tracking everyone's searches and Spamton used to live in Queen's castle, maybe that's how he knows about that

i also think it's extra sweet Asriel gives Kris the non-bootleg controller in the context Kris is an adoptive sibling. maybe i'm reading too into it but it comes off as Asriel treating Kris as a true sibling despite their different races, and that Kris isn't just the knock off or bootleg of the family

During Rouxls Kaard's fight, you can modify the Trash Machine in Debug mode. However, when you change it to a duck, a special debug message will appear in the upper left corner of the screen.

In next chapter Gaster still be in the car, but he'll just be like "Get in loser, we're going shopping"

When Roulx jumps out of your pocket, checking Lancer he will tell you Roulx jumped out. Using Lancer and getting that bar, it's your health bar spread out. If you try it with health missing it will not extend as far.

17:59 i just realized, I FIGURED OUT WHAT THAT MEANS, those are not horns, I’m pretty sure it’s jevil’s hat, and if you look at the character’s animation, it looks like it’s doing jevil’s dance by going left and right with his hand up every time but slower, it could mean something else but I strongly think that is jevil.

The bars pop out due to a glitch. They're meant to indicate a highlighted character. When you click on an item that targets one character, those bars appear with the non-selected characters having their bars darkened out. When the game cuts to a text box the bars disappear. But Lancer and Roulx aren't healing items, they don't target characters, and they don't back out to a text box, so the check that clears out the bars never clears properly, thus the bars linger.

22:18 This was in undertale as well, and isn’t just exclusive to that location. Pretty much anytime you clip out of bounds in undertale or ether of the 2 chapters that glass texture shows up.

I believe the dark unfinished portions are important to both Lighters rooms. Everyone in the town speak highly of Asriel and over look Kris like a shadow. Kris might envy that attention and praise. As for Susie, there’s been a lot of implications that she doesn’t like her home. Theres no mention of her family, and she’s constantly hungry. This is my own interpretation, but I believe she might come from a foster home or possible a low income family where she has to share a room with other people. When Ralsie show’s Susie her room in the castle, she says (something along the lines of) “wow, my own room!”

My theory about the tipping point of the Roaring is when there are 3 fountains open Which makes sense since in the Roaring cutscene, 3 titans are shown and Ralsei freaks out at the moment when Berdly is about to open a third fountain

Hey! I just want to point out an odd little detail I haven’t seen many people talking about. If you speed up the theme that plays when Kris confronts Noelle at the hospital after the snowgrave route, it is Gaster’s theme. Lots of implications behind that!

If you talk to Catty's dad in chapter one, the second interaction has him saying " Eatin' oranges and gettin' our stomachs pumped" which could be a reference to the Undertale Winter Alarm Clock dialogue where Alphys talked about Catty. The exact quote was, "She said something like, "Hey Alphs! Like, don't worry! I got you an orange!"...But, it was, um... uh, just the peel. She, um... ate all my oranges. ...she had to get her stomach pumped. Cats can't, um, eat oranges." Also Sweet from SweetCap'n'Cakes looks ALOT like Protobot from the game Oneshot.

I still cant believe its part 6. Toby is just genius.

The little dancing character is actually a sprite of the character xefros from Hiveswap! It's a game toby did some work in, and the character has a whole theme of being into breakdance and rap.

Actually the glass panels from Ralsei and Susie moving look more like ones from Undertale, when going to the art room to fight So Sorry. Also in Hotland, if you walk against the corners of the conveyors weird, those glass panels appear.

I *STILL* say that Ralsei is the little sibling Kris wanted to be, sweet and kind and just like their big brother, all represented by their lost Red horned headband. He's an identity Kris tossed away when they realized that would leave them completely forgotten and alone.

5:30 if you call toriel AFTER Alphys says that Kris is normal, Kris will tell Toriel that they're normal, through the phone 5:59 i think the connection we could make here is that he is a cat, and spamtons element is Cat (and also surprisingly a LOT of things about spamton are about Cats) 27:53 it could also be a reference to Queens motherly nature, as we've only seen goat mom give out pies, so i can see Toby doing this parallel

The knockoff controller is a callback to checking Asriel’s bed in Chapter 1

in the Cyber City, there are Swatchlings sweeping in the street saying they're preparing for "something big", i think they're referencing the eventual Giga Queen fight that takes place through the city

Although this may be a stretch, I think the item that Virovirokun could possibly represent decryption keys that de-encrypt files, meaning what Virovirokun could possibly also be ransomware knowing that there's certain malware that you have to pay to get back access to files that the malware that had encrypted your files

Pretty sure when queen says “hey chat” the game expects you to be livestreaming and she asks the chat directly

Noelle has a special sprite and animation for Take Care X as well. She gets in a nurse outfit, holding a tray, stumbles a bit and falls on her face. (I also think it plays Lancer’s squash noise.)

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but in Sweet Cap'n Cakes shop there's some interesting dialogue. they talk about some "little weird guy" who wanted them to "sneak into Queen's mansion" (Most probably talking about Spamton) They also talk about a "man of taste" which "had a way with words" they couldn't understand, and also mention some blueprints. I don't know if this is refering to Rouxls and the Trhash Machine or Berdly and his weird statue (At their encounter in the city mention building it). Finally, in one of the roads of the city, some Swatchlings are cleaning and the road is cut off, and they mention Queen's preparing something big. This is foreshadowing the battle with Giga Queen at the end of the chapter

Ralsei was totally gonna say "Because that's how the game works" But didn't wanna break the 4th wall or admit they might know a little more then they let on :3

Some of the characters also have a outline sprite when you go through the December part. Susie, Ralsei, Berdly and even Starwalker has these

I don't know if someone already said it, but Trashy was a thing back in Undertale. If you call Papyrus in the room with the save after falling into the flowers in the Waterfall garbage zone, Papyrus says: "I'm Housemates with a lazy bag of trash. His name's Trashy. He lives in the Garbage can." And when you meet Trashy in Deltarune his name is in Blue like if it was important. Maybe he hopes the player will remember him somehow? :p

In the room before the basement keygen room theres a button that opens up a shortcut If you repeatedly press it the sound effect changes pitch

Alice is Dead brought me back!!!!! Fun fact: that image of Alice's skull in the rabbit hole terrified me and I was scared of skulls and skeletons for YEARS after that

The colours Lancer shows when you interact with him in the menu seem to correspond to the Soul colours of Undertale, which in turn correspond to the flowers in Asgore's loft. They tend to correspond to various virtues and traits: Aqua (Kris): Patience. Aqua is also tied to a lack of movement; you stay still to dodge Aqua attacks Purple (Susie): Perseverance. Purple soul mode is used in the muffet fight, and traps you in specific 'lines' on a web; deals damage with negative words in the Flowey fight Green (Ralsei): Kindness. Associated with healing, cooking, and progressing the battle Yellow (Noelle): Justice. Associated with gun-mode. The Yellow Soul in undertale has a cowboy theme and an empty gun, implying they may have killed someone Blue (Berdly): Integrity. Associated with jumping and ballet, and associated with gravity... Blue soul mode keeps you stuck on the "floor" of the playing area. This is the dodgiest, both in game and out, since we don't know if Berdly actually represents the Blue Soul (But examining the toy in the hospital on a snowgrave route may imply such) ...Make of all that what you will

I think the reason that Lancer gives the party the little bars above their stats is because to make him interactable in the Key Items menu, Toby made Lancer an equippable item, or something close to it, so when interacted with he made the splat sound and didnt exit the menu. However, since Lancer is an equippable item, he makes the bars appear over the character icons, but since hes never actually equipped, the script for the bars going away never activates At least, thats my theory.

I just love how happily he's just saying these little fun facts It's nice!

The “throne of the gods” is in reference to in school its a common joke to try and sit on the topmost chair(chairs sometimes get stacked at the end of the day to make it easier for janitors to clean), the table thing is probably just a joke going off of that.

Here's something quite interesting that not many have picked up on which I think you’d find intriguing: Gaster, from Undertale, seems to mirror a character from Xenoblade Chronicles, named Klaus, as their backstories line up pretty well. Two scientists, who were involved in space-time research, seemingly get pulled into their 'creation'. We can possibly put together what Gaster's deal is in DELTARUNE from what happens to Klaus after that moment (Of course, major spoilers for Xenoblade Chronicles up ahead): After Klaus is shattered across time and space, half of him is left in the original universe, broken and unable to affect the world around him, but also all-seeing. The other half is sent to the world that he created in his attempt to 'save' his race. Klaus gains control over the passage of 'fate' - a key plot point in DELTARUNE, and something that characters such as Ralsei, Seam, Jevil and Spamton allude to - and becomes a completely different kind of person. He creates a massive Titan as a sort of 'Body' under his control, which his creations live on, named the Bionis. He then begins destroying and recreating his own world 'many times', each time without any kind of 'sentient' life forms, experimenting with his power in a way similar to Flowey or the Player in Undertale. But then Klaus, at this point known as Zanza, starts to long for friendship. So he creates 'sentient' life, and along with this, a 'physical form': The Monado. A sword with similar abilities as the Player's Red SOUL, from Undertale. It has the power to 'change fate'. Eventually, Zanza creates a VESSEL, to passively house and re-strengthen his Soul, after he and an opponent are defeated in a battle. Like Gaster in Undertale, Zanza has 'followers'. These followers know his origin, are tasked with keeping his creations in check until he returns, and are promised 'eternal life'. No matter what path his creations take, it will lead to the 'Bionis', which of course is one of Zanza's physical forms, awakening and destroying the world (see the similarities with the Roaring), which is one of the main driving points of the game. And coincidentally, the Vessel that Zanza creates is the only one who can use the Monado's true power (so, in effect, this vessel is the only one who can change fate). I’m not sure how much of this will be relevant in the end, but there are also other characters in Xenoblade Chronicles that mirror DELTARUNE characters, such as Dickson at this point in the story mirroring Ralsei, trying to push the 'fated narrative' forward as much as possible. Like Ralsei, he knows that everything is predestined (Ralsei mentions that the entire journey should go 'exactly' as foretold by the prophecy), and 'Recruits' people from different areas on Bionis to form an 'allied force' similar to how Ralsei is asking us to 'Recruit' Darkners from each Dark World. I think that the Knight may play a similar role to Egil, both characters deliberately trying to 'oppose' the will of the god of their universes, but to no avail, as everything is predestined. On top of what I’ve said, it seems that Gaster is somehow involved in the creation of the prophecy as shown by him.png 1 and 2, thus giving him even more similarity to Zanza making a 'prophecised' outcome. Finally, Gaster lowers your Execution Point level GREATLY upon dying (as shown by the battle stats he has in Undertale's code), which implies that killing Gaster is actually a good thing. What do you think of this stuff? Is it all just nonsense? Am I just deluded? Personally I think that Gaster and Zanza will be similar to eachother, but that’s just my theory.

Another great video with lots of fun details I had totally missed before. Awesome work. One thing that I wanted to point out regarding pronunciation is that the "kun" part of Virovirokun's name (and also Pikopiko-kun) is a common Japanese honorific used somewhat endearingly when talking to younger boys specifically. This use of kun is pronounced more like "koon" or "kūn" (whatever phonetic spelling makes more sense). Hope that small tidbit is helpful in some way! Looking forward to the next video (vidovidokun?).

My theory is that the weird area that you fell in directly from the closet is still there. It’s the one that has the weird eyes and holes too dark to see inside. I think “Lost” enemies are there, and they’ll show up eventually. I don’t their return will be good for the player, since “how you treat people makes all the difference.” They’ll probably want revenge.

The little “colored bar” you mentioned when you were talking about Lancer as a key item is the same bar that appears when you use an item on someone, so this may just be a glitch of some kind

A random thing I noticed: At the end of Chapter 1, even far before Chapter 2 came out (like I'm talking 3 years here), Ralsei always had his Chapter 2 Sprite in his last lines of dialogue for the chapter!

Hey, so idk if this was ever covered in any of your videos bcs I haven't had time to comb through all of them, but I discovered something last night, doing some research on some Undertale FUN value events. Once you talk to Clamgirl, who mentions her neighbors daughter "Suzy" (even though it's spelled wrong), if you go to the secret backroom behind the Skelebros's house and look in the drawer that usually has the photo of people you don't recognize, you instead see a photo of three people, smiling, and the photo is labeled "don't forget". Now, before I knew about Deltarune and stuff, I and most of the fandom assumed this was a photo of Sans, Papyrus, and Gaster; but now, with Deltarune, and the event being tied to the interaction with Clamgirl and the name "Suzy", and then finally, that the photo is labeled "Don't Forget", which is obviously the credit song to Chapter One, and letmotif found throughout Deltarune; I would have to think this is a huggggeee reference to Deltarune's world. Still unsure about this? How come it was found SPECIFIALLY in Sans' backroom. Sans is also the one who gave us the Ice-E's word search in Undertale; which is something we never saw again in Undertale, but DOES exist in Deltarune? Somehow, Sans (and maybe Paps? we don't know since we haven't seen him yet) is linked to both worlds, and has knowledge of them both. There's a photo of what we can assume is probably Asriel or Ralsei, Kris, and Susie found with the words "Don't Forget", and the Ice-E's word search. What else could this mean for Deltarune and Undertale? I don't know. They're linked somehow; but we might have to leave it up to Toby to tell us how. Cmon, Toby. Throw us a bone. But again, that was just a theory; a game theory. And this case will remain.... Unsolved. Thanks for reading :)

The man in the car Easter egg is one is of the many things that makes me believe that gaster was just some chill guy who did some experimenting in his off-time

Anyone else remember the throne of gods in middle school? Stackin all the classroom chairs at the end of cleaning the classroom and seeing if you could get to the top and sit on it without the chairs falling over? I somewhat miss middle school now, the throne of gods will always be my fave school pastime.

17:35 there's actually more proof for the theory that he's one of these nubs, in the mansion, where the 3 platters with people beside the platters, Nubert and a Maus are beside one there platters, and the Maus will say that he is leagues above the over maus, the only one above them being Nubert, which implies he's so kind of mouse, and the nubs on those laptops are meant to serve as an alternative to a mouse lol.

One 'Gegg' that may or may not have been obvious: When you interact with the computer after Lancer requests the shovels, it describes a Dozens and Dozens of Shovels attack. This is the same acronym as a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack used by hackers.

If Kris is the Knight it makes way more sense that all the Dark Worlds have so many references to Kris’s life, like things about Asriel or the Throne of the Gods, Kris’s imagination is flooding into these Dark Fountains they open up and each world really is Kris and Asriel’s childhood roleplay games brought to life

I always thought the Potassium thing was a Don't Starve reference, because in the Shipwrecked DLC of that game, when playing Walani and examining a Banana, she'd say "Potassium!"

I thought "the bluebird of crappiness" was a reference to Twitter.

The Glass floor thing Toby used to do on Twitter. He would say disappearing glass floors are the solution to all game dev problems.

I like to think Ralsei actually visited Kris's light-world room to use as a reference and mistook Asriel's side as Kris's. It'd explain the $5 left in Asriel's drawer that wasn't there in chapter 1

Nice, one of my comments about the hacker dialogue made it into this video! It's crazy how there's so many little details in this game!

Clearly toby fox intended for people to flip Kris's dark world room to make it look like Asriel's side because if you look at the pillow on the bed, the little pattern in the center is facing the wrong way.

Fun fact: Toby specifically uses magic glasses to avoid having to fix characters walking on thin air in both Undertale and Deltarune

One thing I found when replaying Chapter 1 is when you go to the librarby and interact where the computer lab is then it will say that a dog (Toby Fox) is inside working on something, and then in Chapter 2 that same area to the computer lab is then an entrance to the second Dark World, seemingly as if that was Toby Fox creating Chapter two in the area that it’s set.
