@@ManlyBadassHero to be fair it wqs a glutton of iq Flowing from those slices aldough the devs might destroy the bred wall that would make you de-yeast
The child image shifting from normal-ish to demonic as time goes on is quite a nice touch. It's nigh impossible to convey the feeling of fatigue and paranoia coming from endless tedium in a _playable game,_ never mind a game jam game, and going for obvious symbolism with a jokey tone actually conveys the idea nicely.
So the drawing in the background became increasingly weirder and more violent as it progressed, as did the cat poster. I just find this very interesting
_The staff of life_ Very creepy little game. Either she viewed the demands of motherhood as being overwhelming enough to want to put her kid to sleep with constant pills - or - the kid was evil and wanted their baby sibling to be a sacrifice. Either way, the bread fort was hilarious.
Bread bridge, I love it. Both the idea and that it actually worked. That's easily the best part of this game. Very silly overall with a surprisingly dark ending, at least one of them. Clearly the mother hasn't been handling the stress of parenthood too well.
I think what he's actually saying is "I can't see you behind the bread!", so the reason it's said in the level before the 5 jam 5 pills level is a hint to go "hey yeah btw you'll need this in the next level :)"
I think if they ever build on this they should make the son start eating the bread not on the plate as he gets more aggressive, like when he pokes his head up but doesn't peak he should shoot out and take one. the frequency being faster if you have a lot of bread/ on the progress of you making the sandwich
To add onto your analysis Manly, it definitely gave me Mama going through postpartum vibes as well. Maybe even expressing how overwhelmed she felt as a single parent or stay at home mom. Either way, what a dope little game with an interesting pair of twist endings. Keep it up, we love to see it!
I'll give credit, for a shitpost game I'm nicely surprised there is some problem-solving needed for these puzzles, if you can call them that lol I think it's a cute enough joke game and the visuals and voices definitely add onto that experience. Overall, great video, Manly!
Manly: “Why are you so huge compared to me? How did I give birth to you?” THANK YOU! Haha, that’s the TRUE horror story here. I laughed so loud at the first death animation. You always find and play the oddest game gems and I love your channel for it!
Idk. People kinda like to exaggerate the flaws of children. But also, people be having kids and treating them like pets. They don't let them have an independent social life.
He sometimes says "I can't see you behind the bread" but it sounds the same as another dialogue phrase which is "I can see you by the bread" they are two separate things but both exist in the dialogue
I wonder if Manly ever figured out the kid was saying "I can't see you behind the bread." Several times throughout,,, giving hints of that the bread could hide you-
not just the cat’s eyes are crossed now, as you can see the letters on the cubes change from time to time. Also the confetti thingy gets bigger the deeper you go.
The possible lore behind this could be as simple as the increasing pressure of new parenthood. The child’s demands could be symbolizing how much pressure is placed on the mom, such as preparing the meal perfectly to keep the child content and quiet. But as the game progresses, the child’s demands get more complicated. Another question we bare in mind; why? Why is the child’s drawing and overall appearance becoming more aggressive? This can be just the active imagination of the mother feeling as if it were that. It could be possible that it signifies new parents fearing their child will be like this! (Just demanding, not trying to kill you or anything..) at the end, it shows a baby. Putting the baby in the bread may be how they are aborting it, or not wanting to have a child due to the dream or nightmare in the previous scenes. You can even see the resemblance. The child and baby both have a lighter skin tone and blonde hair, which may be where the mother has thought of the child’s appearance in the first place! Anyhow, the second ending where you keep the baby shows the mother and the newborn child sitting peacefully. It could symbolize how the mother decided to keep the child or have one, and how much joy she found it in. Theory two: Evil child want jelly and bread
Child after eating sandwich be like. Child: *"Hmmm, thank you for temporarily sating my hunger, mother."* Mother: "Of course, son of mine." Child: *"and-uhh-umm-I love you, mom."* Mother: "Awhh! and I love you too, dear. Remember to brush your teeth before nap time."
The mother is really *tiny* 🧍♀️ Meanwhile the kid head: ↗️↖️↘️↙️↪️↩️⏪⏫⏬⤴️➡️⬆️⬇️⬅️ *stretch* Also manly: *let's make bread bridge!* 🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞🥪🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞 Me: *is this attack on kid reference?
