I experienced my first panic attack a few weeks ago and called the ambulance because I thought I was having a heart attack. 2020 has been a hard year and all the bad news every day builds up until it manifests in the body as physical symptoms. The EMTs took my vitals and said I seemed totally fine and said it was an anxiety attack. I'm in my 20's and work out regularly with a good diet. Don't let stress build up folks. Its not good for you.

Panic attacks can be extremely scary, particularly if you don't know what is happening. It's not uncommon for people to end up in ER from panic attacks because they are afraid they are having a heart attack or stroke.

I’m 60 years old and have suffered from panic attacks/agoraphobia since 1975-6(age 11-12). The “loss of reality is actually the worst feeling in my entire life! That’s far more overwhelming (putting it oh so mildly as it’s destroyed my life and now my 2 adult sons have a horrific life such as mine. They both are housebound as I have once again become. My sons are waiting to die(ride it out, not seek help , i have searched for help since 1976, naturally they knew less than the medical professionals now seem to “get it”. On your list panic disorder you have (the most paralyzing feeling last (loss of reality). I do get hit with that first in a blink of the eye and then run , going crazy and I loose it then and there . If my mind is not connected to my body how the heck can I practice what every doctor is saying? Stay in the moment? The moment is long gone? I’m sure if I had developed this horrific illness after making a career and had made the goals I had planned I’d be “coping better “ by now. When you’re on Social Security/Medicare you don’t get the wisdom of higher educational doctors. Still searching for a life.👣🙏❤️🎶

I'm a habitual apologist. After I get home and scrutinize every interaction of the evening, and I figure out how I upset everyone by excusing in their presence, I call and text to apologize. I say sorry when I ask people who owe me money for the money, like I've inconvenienced them or upset them. Lol

That's not an uncommon story that I hear - especially in people with social anxiety.

Is it normal for people with social anxiety to fall into a routine of avoidance of scary social situations, that results in them thinking the anxiety is going away? Like if someone hasn't gone to a party in a long time, would it be normal for it to feel like the fear of going to that party is gone, since they aren't being directly confronted with the situation?

It’s not normal, force yourself to do what scares you and eventually through hard work you will lead a better life than someone like myself. Best wishes ❤

I get anxious when I have to go to a family gathering because my siblings and Father like to say things just to piss me and others off. So when they do that I usually end up allowing them to get to me. Now I stay as alert as I can to for my own sanity and have learned to ignore the comment or sarcastic remark .

My dad loved that little game too. My plan was ignore him til I just couldn't, then tell him to F off. Didn't work so great as I was an alcoholic😞

I just started having that during the quarantine. I think my mental health is starting to suffer big-time from all this isolation. I can’t even go to church and if I try to make an appointment with my doctor they want to delay the meeting unless it’s urgent. But sometimes I start to have a panic attack, and it feels like my soul crying out that I want to do more with my life. But somehow our government wants to tell us to stay home because we are “saving lives“ while Meanwhile going bankrupt. So it’s like none of my goals are going to be achieved this year or next and they want me to just sit quietly and take it. Something is not right with this picture. And I can’t go to another country because nobody’s accepting Americans right now. If this continues for much longer I’m going to go completely insane. But I’m not gonna sit back and let that happen. So right now I’m looking for another country. I just want to live and work and make enough money that I’m not a burden on anyone and I don’t want to fight or march or argue or be angry with anyone. Is that too much to ask?
