Denny is one the most completely amazing artists ever. I wonder if he wants to be a famous guy? Marianne is so cool. But, The 70s had some of the greatest music ever. (and the 60s.)
What a great voice ... After all these years... McCartney shadow over him... I've been great Dear Denny... Love u... Great Songs !! U've been si GREAT !! 🥰🥰
Thanks for posting! This is an awesome now historic clip. Seeing Denny performing Weep for Love live during the time period of original recording is incredible. (Denny has rarely done Weep for Love live, even to this day in 2023.) The interview has a lot great details about Denny's professional life at the time.
Denny wrote a couble of songs on WINGS London Town. Deliver your Children . Children Children. Deeny co Wrote Mull of Kintre with McCartney . And of course Go Now with Moodies. I understand he has some Health Issues. God Bless him. Denny is like Ronnie Wood a good Mate to have in a Band.
Amazing footage. I could hear Denny duetting with Marianne. I recall Denny was in a band called ‘Balls’ with Micky Kellie, Trevor Burton & Steve Gibbons. The album is hopefully still in the Olympic vaults. I must track down a copy of Denny’s ‘Japanese Tears’ album. Marianne,I presume was promoting her excellent ‘Broken English’ album?
Many thanks for posting this its brilliant seeing both, Denny Laine and Marianne Faithfull looking younger. What is this show, I've never seen nor heard of it?
Never seen that before, amazing ! Wonder when that was broadcast exactly, after the Tokyo bust and before the Montserrat sessions with Paul ? EDIT - with the reference to Carter it's probably on or shortly after November 4th.
6:00 a really nice song. and also a unique voice. He was a great musical partner in Wings. A pity that he and Paul seem to have drifted quite a bit apart in the last decades..
Oh! Thank you so much for being such an amazing fan of my music Geof🙏🤠. I hope you never stop being a fan and also stop listening to my songs🎶. Well could you kindly tell me how long you've been a fan my music???
In my opinion Weep for Love would have made the better choice for release as a single over Japanese Tears. Anyone interested, check out the studio recording of Weep for Love and compare the songs and let us all know what YOU think with a reply in the comments here.
@@djkingstonvibes i mean, almost every other song on that album is better than Japanese Tears. He just wanted to give the "angle" of the japanese fiasco. But yeah, Weep for Love is a better single choise for the album. He also released Go Now as a single around that time.
@@akirafelix3865 After Weep for Love, I would have recommended the re-recording of Say You Don't Mind as a single over Japanese Tears or the redo of Go Now. That said, "everyone" is familiar with Go Now (the Moody Blues version with Denny on lead vocal), especially everyone into music in 1980. It was a hit in the USA, UK, etc. back in the day. If you ever listened to the "oldies" or "classic rock" radio stations in the 1980s, Go Now was in regular rotation.
@@djkingstonvibes the Go Now single was a double a-side along with Say You Don't Mind. That single is credited to The Denny Laine Band or something like that. While Japanese Tears is credited to just Denny Laine. It's really strange. It might have been the record label not knowing how to go about the promotion or just Laine's lack of understanding about his own appeal.
@@akirafelix3865 Thank you for the details on the singles releases. I do wonder if Denny made a mistake with Japanese Tears being a released song at all. First, it was not that great a song (and Denny mentions it being a promotional tool of a song)... Second, I imagine it annoyed Paul McCartney and when Denny announced he was leaving Wings in early 1981 rather than waiting for McCartney to pick up Wings touring again, McCartney likely thought Denny was too much trouble to chase after to try to get Wings back together. Seems it was 2 publicity stunts on Denny's part... 1) Do a song Japanese Tears about McCartney getting busted in Japan, 2) Announce quitting Wings rather than wait for the Wings touring hiatus to end. To give Denny some cover from blame, Denny does mention in the interview he would have not done a song like Japanese Tears unless his friend "Brian"(?) in the audience had not come up with the idea. I wonder whose idea was it to officially quit Wings. Another one of "Brian's" ideas? Is "Brian" the one Denny referred to when he said someone who worked for him said some things in the press about Denny being mad at Paul (about not touring) and that kept Denny and Paul apart professionally from then on? (Those details were in another Denny Laine interview post Wings break up.) Lots of drama and twists to end days of Wings. It is a real shame Denny and Paul never got back together after the Wings break up. They were a great combination on Denny's songs, Paul's songs, projects like Denny's Holly Days album of Buddy Holly covers, and The Denny Laine / Paul McCartney rock 'N' roll jam sessions material.
McCartney I’m a little mad…I think ya shoulda treated Denny better …he helped you in your solo career so much …maybe I’m wrong ….Denny was great . Back to the egg sucked compared to your previous solo stuff
somehow to me doesn't pull off the rockstar sunglasses....like maybe john or ringo...maybe its just me? they look like his mums sunglasses,he tries to act like he's a Beatle.....and he AINT
He needed something to cover up his drugged eyes I guess. Notice how at the beginning he looks at Faithfull in very knowing way and rubs the bottom of his nose.
