Thats' why he won more than the best defensive ones. Is Steph Curry going to be remembered for his defense? Not a chance but his shot is the best ever and I watched them all going back for almost 50 years now. Is Alexander Ovechkin going to break Wayne Gretzkys NHL goal record? Possibly in two years but Wayne still the better player but Wayne had 0 defense skills compared to the modern player. Tom Brady is considered the greatest QB of all time and yet Joe Montana is 4-0 in Superbowls, never threw an INT in the superbowl and has the best rating in SB history to this day and regular season wise Peyton Manning has the best regular season stats over Brady but Brady got 7 superbowl titles and that's what matters the the majority. Michael Jordan couldn't beat Larry Bird in the 80's but he's 6-0 in the 90's. That's what people talk about. Dennis Rodman is considered the best rebounder of all time and in reality his stats aren't as good as Wilt but it's what he did as as a rebounder and his IQ. And yet Dennis offense sucked but he's still loved.

Great hitter no one ever said he wasn’t but you can’t be great at one thing and terrible at another and be the best at your position which people try and say he is. Yeah but getting unanimous considering all the players who didn’t would’ve been insanely undeserved for someone who from a HOF standpoint was nowhere near top tier he’s not even a top 50 player all time. Being unanimous would’ve been a disservice to his predecessors. I’m glad he didn’t get it just because he was famous and played for the Yankees. Good job by that writer.

There are many layers in the hall that didn’t even play defense

That answer makes no sense. Everyone knows he was not the best defensive shortstop for any season that he played. But if his defense was that horrible, he would’ve had more than one writer that did not vote for him. Jeter’s offensive numbers are incredible. No one played harder than he did. He was a single man, his entire career, and played in New York. But he never had any trouble with the law and his name was never splashed in the paper about hitting a woman or some other dumb thing. That one vote that didn’t go his way doesn’t mean sh**.
