In this episode of restoring DMU DMS 51412 we settle into the groove of restoring the second man's side of 51412 by sealing up the first quarter of the vehicle from the annihilation we put her through to get her up to the standard required, we do this by sealing up the roof and any gaps from the original design that made her deteriorate in the way she did, and by replacing the second of a total of 6 panels that need to go due to untenable corrosion and inadequate integrity.

I used to drive those from Clapham Jcn round to Kensington Olympia. We also used 3 Hampshire sets. God that feels like a lifetime ago. I am retired now and spend my days renovating old Honda Motorcycles from the 70s and fishing and brewing my own beer. good luck on the renovation....

Great stuff bit of a late comer to the channel. Is it just bodywork thats required or will the underframe and bogies be getting some attention

Thanks for your comment. The vehicle is planned to get some underframe work in the future. It will be in our plan to overhaul the bogies under each vehicle in the future although 51412 is In running condition and just in need of a major service of the mechanicals.
