Destiny Rise of Iron All Cutscenes Reaction 

As players, the guardians have actually know Lord Saladin since the beta for D1, as he’s in charge of the Iron Banner, a competitive PvP event that occurs one week each month. There was another cutscene after the main story that revealed that another Iron Lord had survived, Lady Efrideet, as she didn’t partake in their last battle

Can't wait for you guys to react to Forsaken and Witch Queen. That's when the story telling really gets good.

God I've been waiting for this EDIT: SIVA is nanotech mixed with AI it was meant to be used by space colonists to build bases and tools out in deep space. after the collapse of humanity the iron lords tried to use it again but failed (it went berserk). the iron lords died save for two Lord saladin and Lady efredite (now a pacifist). If you continue your reactions to destiny their story will be explained in further detail but SIVA as yet to return to the story even though it is a fan favourite (enemy? fashion wise?). I hope you enjoy the rest of destiny's story and a reminder to please watch the seasonal stories of destiny 2 (that only start the Forsaken expansion).

Expected this reaction to arrive at some point but the fact that you will be reacting to stuff from Byf as well just makes me so happy. Playing the game and experiencing the story for yourself can be fun but Byf is without a doubt the best at highlighting the beautifully crafted stories that we will sadly only ever get to read about.

Thank you so much! I love the destiny stuff! As for closure on SIVA, it was a nanotechnology that could be programmed (theoretically) to form anything you want to build. It was designed to function similar to a virus to enable its endless replication therefore eliminating the need to constantly mass produce more of it since it would do so itself. So yeah, once you know all that, it’s very easy to see why it got out of control. Rasputin was an AI super-intelligence that used violent means (robots and automated defence systems) to try and prevent the iron lords from finding it and unleashing it which didn’t work.

Im glad you mentioned content creators like mynameisbyf because they are probably the best medium in which to consume lore from the raids. They’re great because most of the raids are particularly relevant to the story told by the campaign that accompanies them within a given expansion.

Love the Destiny reactions. Since a few people have already commented on SIVA, I'll skip the explanation on it (but if you want a really deep dive of it, or anything else in Destiny, MyNameIsByf has videos about it all). There are two things that I'd like to mention going in the future with Destiny 2. The raids in the game are very important for the story. While in Destiny 1, we had a few raids where we ensure an enemy stays dead, or there is a one-off enemy, most of the raids in Destiny 2 (not all) are very important for the story going forward, whether it be the enemy or a theme in the raid. I would definitely recommend either checking out the dialogue of the raid and its cutscenes if it has any, or checking out a video of MyNameIsByf of the topic. The other thing is that from Destiny 2 Year 2 (the "Forsaken" expansion) onward, there are seasons in between the expansions, which are directly connected to the story(especially from Season of Dawn onward), and you definitely want to check those out, because there are certain story beats that are important that happen in those season, new characters get introduced, etc. and you definitely don't want to miss those. SIVA (Destiny Lore) is a form of self-replicating nanotechnology developed by Clovis Bray during the Golden Age. Originally designed to assist in the construction of extrasolar colonies, it was used by the Warmind Rasputin as a weapon against the Iron Lords, and later by the Splicers of the Fallen House of Devils.

In season of the worthy (year 3 season 10) we get more lore about what really happened between the Iron Lords, Rasputin, Felwinter (this boss 34:57) and SIVA. Not gonna go into details or spoil it just in case you may watch the cutscenes in the future.

Yay! The Young Wolf storyline is amazing and I'm glad you've seen it. Now! ON to Destiny 2!

Fun Fact: After the Campaign you could participate in a raid called "Wrath of the Machine" where you fight many Fallen SIVE monstrosities even the Mastermind behind it all "Aksis, Archon Prime". The Mad splicer became a giant f##ing metal spider attempting become SIVA but thankfully the Guardian was able to squash him before that happened.

This was my favourite DLC from D1. I was so stoked to learn more about Saladin and the Iron Lords, the music was epic. Saladin has become one of my favourite characters, he's so tragic and flawed, I love him.

Siva is nanotechnology meant to build society on different planets, the last command put into it was “consume, exchange, replicate” which is why it was eating the world and the iron lords armor

SIVA is nanotech, as you could see in the second cinematic and around the Remnant of Felwinter. It was supposed to be used to create anything that would be necessary for space exploration and colonization, and in Destiny 2 you can see a ship that carries dormant SIVA (you can't see the SIVA though). All it required was the right directive. Of course, people realized that it could be used as a weapon, but afaik it didn't happen. In Rise of Iron, the Splicers of the House of Devils tries to use SIVA to enhance themselves, and they almost completely succeeded. This DLC's raid shows the super cool and insanely powerful stuff they did with it. The only problem is that they didn't fully control it, as seen in the last mission where everything goes to shit the moment you swap a network grid's power cores, and the crazy infection of the Plaguelands was probably not intended. A very important detail is that Rasputin is very certainly the one who truly controls SIVA: it was produced in a Rasputin bunker, and the raid's final boss has a lore page where he says that he sometimes hears a voice in his mind that isn't his. And finally, the current directive for Earth's SIVA is ~CONSUME-ENHANCE-REPLICATE~ and certainly given by Rasputin. Yeah, he's not just a big AI made to defend our solar system. Or rather, he evolved beyond that.

Due to their discovery of SIVE Tech the "House of Devils" were able to make many Splicers from opposing Houses to defect and change allegiance to the Devils.

I love your guys reaction to everything. I can't wait for your guys reactions to Destiny 2 and all the DLC's and seasons cinematics. I think you guys will love the Red War Era. Forsaken, curse of Osiris and Witch queen are all Exquisite as well. In D2 they have seasons now. These seasons have story in them. Soo...you have soo much more cinematics and story telling in D2. It isn't just a DLC releases and you get the story and wait for the next DLC. You now get these mini stories that contribute to the bigger DLC stories. But in D2 there are soo many new and old characters and some of them are amazingly well done. I can't wait to react to your reaction of Destiny 2. I always check the channel to see if you've made a new video of Destiny, Halo, League of Legends, Gears of War, Injustice and a few others I can't remember the name of. So one of the cool things back before this dlc had dropped there was about a week or 2 where bungie had made an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) featuring siva and a bunch of lore setting up events to come. Basically it just involved players doing certain things and you'd see siva nanites floating around peoples heads. Lore: Rasputin had only done what he'd done to the Iron lords to get back at Felwinter, the exo. You see long before the darkness arrived Rasputin had an exo made just for himself to experience the world for himself. All so that he could understand humanity as his ai was equipped with the ability for human emotion. But when all failed during the collapse Felwinter was lost until the exo was revived by the traveler. Rasputin had sensed this and attempted to gain control of Felwinter once more. But when the light of the traveler proved too strong Rasputin basically said if I cant have him no one can. He killed Felwinter over and over until he gave up and came up with a plan. Rasputin brought down his wrath upon the iron lords with siva and killed them all just to kill Felwinter alone. ^This is personally one of my fav lore pieces. Though this is a pretty quick summery. More is said somewhere within destiny 2 about it but its been a long time since that content was taken out of the game. There wasn't too much in terms of after story importance. There is a strike that features Taniks once more (remember to keep paying attention to him). That strike had you defeating Taniks who this time instead of being revived his normal way has now been resurrected by siva. I guess the next video will probably be Destiny 2 The Red War campaign as I dont think there was any more story events in destiny 1. There was the raid of course, the Wrath of the Machine raid. Side note I love this dlcs music. Especially Vosik the ArchPriests theme.

Lord Saladin is a vendor at the tower for PvP Iron Banner. He does come back from time to time depending on the seasons. Siva itself is nano-machines built during humanities golden age. Kinds like Iron mans suit during endgame. his suit looked like it magiacally went on his body like liquid. Micro machines.

I'm sad the cute interaction between the ghost and guardian at the end of the game wasnt included in the video they watched. Khvostov exotic mission ghost dialog is all u have to search up if u dont know what Im talking about but it was a really nice little send off before the next game.

They were apparently so strong against a particular Fallen House, that house renamed itself "House of Wolves". I may be wrong because that house may have encountered actual Wolves first before encounting the "Iron Lords".

Man when I played rise of iron they had a pass like item that gave you armor and it gave you ornaments that gave the armor fire that made you kinda like a furnace with wolves I miss it

SIVA was a building tool, but there was literally theoretically no limit to WHAT it could build, so as it grew in intelligence, it realized it could build anything... inlucding things that were organic and/or alive, and mix and match those components, making the Fallen the perfect victim. Rasputin was the test case, and when SIVA was able to take over Rasputin, then taking over living things would be next.

YEEEES! And now we reach the end of D1. :( And begin our Journey into D2... next time. I gotta say there is a lot more story in D2 to dive into and man does it get good. I think you both will enjoy it as we get deeper into the mythos of the Destiny universe. If you decide to continue that is. No pressure on this end. Love you both no matter what you decide to do.

Once you guys get to the cutscenes in Destiny 2 I would also consider watching the raids for each expansion. I think they add a lot of context and can act as more of a conclusion to that part of the story like with the Last Wish raid for the Forsaken expansion. But not all of the raids are like this so it is not completely mandatory.

Hello again! Welcome back to Destiny! To answer some questions.. SIVA is a nanotechnology created by the Clovis Bray corporation during the golden age. It is essentially programmable nanotech that could convert anything into anything else, with the right direction. However, it was never perfected before the end of the golden age, and of course had no 'direction' by the time it was rediscovered by the Iron Lords. Rasputin is mentioned a few times but it's rather unclear via the dialogue alone. Essentially, Rasputin was attempting to keep the Iron Lords out of the replication complex because he knew they wouldn't be able to control it, and low and behold, as soon as they made it past Rasputin's defenses, SIVA did just immediately spread uncontrollably. In the game "Consume. Enhance. Replicate." is the primary directive that SIVA follows, as we see it just tearing through the entire plaguelands and tearing chunks out of the cosmodrome wall. As for the Iron Lords, essentially, they are/were lightbearers (people chosen by a Ghost to wield the Traveler's light), but they are not Guardians. Guardian itself is an honorific title for those who serve in the Vanguard, where the Iron Lords predate the vanguard and concepts of Guardians. Saladin has been fighting the good fight since long before the Last City was even constructed, during the dark age. Hope that answers at least a bit!

Ah, Rise of Iron. While not my favorite installment in the franchise, I always liked the Arthurian vibes of the Iron Lords. Something that isn’t covered super well in the campaign itself and is more relevant in the post-campaign story is how the Fallen are involved. The Fallen were previously blessed by the Traveler, which they called “The Great Machine.” From that came their religious views, where they see machines as gods. The servitors (the big purple eyeball enemies) were designed to emulate the Traveler in shape, with every house having a Prime Servitor, such as Sepiks, that produced the ether gas their species needed to survive. The Fallen as a species take a bit of a turn here as a sect of them discover SIVA and use it to enhance themselves. Rather than worships machines as gods, they will *become* part machine, and thus part god. Glad you two enjoyed this expansion. I look forward to seeing you guys tackle Destiny 2. I always enjoyed its campaign quite a lot.

To my knowledge SIVA is like programable matter that can transform anything it touches into anything you wanted to be. The evil AI things is Rasputin, the AI that is built to defend against alien forces, key phrase no matter the cost. So Rasputin is kind of doing his own thing out side of anyone's control. I believe Byf has a video about it.

If you watch byf, has a short series to help new players learn basics of the lore such as the races, classes, and important terms used in destiny such as “paracasul” I’d 100% recommend watching that and “Dynasty” his telling of the hive lore told beautifully is a movie style format with talent artist and animators (but that’s a long one)

The playable area where SIVA took over was basically retconned in Destiny 2. SIVA in a nutshell is just nanotechnology. It already exists in the real world but not to such grand scale. Lord Saladin holds a competitive PVP (player vs player) mode in both games, which has it's own armor sets and weaponry, and it's currently only held for 2 different weeks in a season (seasons are usually 12-15 weeks long). He stands around on a pedestal in the communal Tower during the event and is gone for the rest of the time. He was recently in the middle of a past seasonal story where he got recruited into the army of a Cabal leader we're currently on good terms with. He was basically forced into it due to a bad decision made by a returning character, The Crow.

39:59 Sadly between the Iron Lords DLC and Destiny 2 , the Vanguad authority had Guardian Veterans asualt the entire SIVA Plaguelands, putting silent, slow and unceremonious defeat of SIVA. To this day the Plaguelands are still Quarantined to prevent any Fallen or human smugglers from obtaining a fragment of SIVA.

This came out before GoT ;) Regarding Lord Saladin - not exactly a story spoiler but we do see him periodically in Destiny 2 moving forward, both as an NPC that hosts an event in the game called the Iron Banner and outside of that specific event. I wont go into more because spoilers :) REALLY looking forward to your Destiny 2 journey, its gonna be good.

If you're interested I'd recommend checking out all the cutscenes of Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. The story is told sort of like if you where watching a play as the young girl Alice reads each book. Each character's entire tale is roughly 1 hour long and intertwine to tell an over arching story. R3D Gaming made a nice collection of each character's full Story if you are interested. The order of the stories would be: Gwendolyn, Cornelius, Mercedes, Oswald, Velvet, and All endings. Odin Sphere is my favorite game and if you decide to give it a try I hope you enjoy it as well. I finally got to finish this campaign after all these years. I have only one thing to say. *WAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH!!!*

Destiny 1 did most of its story telling through lore cards collected in the environments and also through quests and in game moment to moment dialogue. Its non traditional story telling was both a strength and a weakness, for the hard core it made you feel like you were part of an evolving world and always had new stuff to learn. Revisiting core moments leaves alot to be desired, like you noticed by the end of this you still didn't really know what Siva was as 70% of the information was missing 😅 Destiny 2 corrected this.

I would recommend my name is bys full contemplation of d1 - d2 as it will answer a lot of the narrative questions you're asking I would make it a 2 part cause it's a lot to go over in a single sitting

Since you mentioned you thought the Guardians were immoratal: kind of. They usually are unless their ghost is destroyed or it can't reach them anymore to revive them, or if they're rendered non-existent through time travel shenanigans, etc.

Good old D1, good times. You two should watch videos about the siva raid before moving on to destiny 2. Second best raid next to taken king raid in D1, just my opinion though 😅.

The player character had six different voices, so I guess it's understandable that they chose to keep them quiet. It will be awhile until our character speaks again and even then it won't be much. Later they decided to cut down the available voices from six to two (one male and one female), which allowed the Guardian to speak more. But they still remain the strong and silent type, with Ghost being the chatty one. I see Byf being mentioned and I can imagine Dynasty has been requested many times already. It is a good video and the lore is sound, but as a heads up: it was made during the time when out of the three Hive siblings, only Oryx had been seen in game. The appearance and voice of the other two is just pure fan fiction. Something to keep in mind when you do get around to watching it.

Lord Saladin has been around since the dark ages that came after the collapse and back in those days their were no guardians to protect what was left of mankind. Instead those humans who was resurrected by Traveler's ghost were simply lightbearers who didn't exactly know what they were meant to do. So most of them became warlords and these warlords were pretty damn violent and ruled over people tyrannically and warred with other lightbearers and warlords with the remnants of humanity being caught up in the middle until lightbearers like Lord Saladin put a end to it.

With SIVA returning to the Cosmodrome, it is time for Iron Lords to finish what they started.

The Iron Lords were of the first Guardians, when Guardians werent even called Guardians. They were called the Risen. At first people would use the light to become warlords in the days of the Dark Age. The Iron Lords were a group of Risen that tried to bring about order and law in this lawless wasteland. While they werent exactly entirely just and righteous themselves, they managed this for the most part. Some of their stories are really cool. Lady Efrideet, one of the other only surviving Iron Lords besides Saladin. She once threw Saladin like a javelin into a Fallen Walker, a giant spider tank, and blew it up. Lord Felwinter once confronted Lord Shaxx in the Dark Age when Shaxx (current Crucible handler) was a warlord, but a more respectable one, one that protected his people within a large castle. Felwinter fought Shaxx to convince him to join the Iron Lords and Shaxx kicked his ass over and over and over again. I dont know all the stories from when they were alive and im not sure i cant name them all without looking it up but they were comprised of Saladin, Efrideet, Jolder (the one who sealed the door and blew herself up along with everyone else), Skorri, Radeghast, Felwinter, Gheleon, Perun, Silimar, Timur, Dryden, Orimund, Crimil, Frostmire, Jorum, Gunnora, and Orewing. I recognize a lot of Norse influence in their names. The Iron Lords wanted to use SIVA to rebuild, bring Humanity back from the brink. SIVA are self replicating nano machines made during the Golden Age to act as a virus hence their self replicating nature and ability to "infect" things. I think Rasputin is the only one who can completely control it. We learned later that Rasputin essentially lured the Iron Lords to SIVA so he could trap and kill them. Felwinter is the "son" of Rasputin from what I know, and Rasputin hated the Risen and seeing Felwinter become one and join the Iron Lords pissed him off. I think Rasputin now regrets this. I say "I think" cause I wasnt very into D2 when the season this knowledge was released in came out. Fun Fact: Saladin is voiced by the same guy who voices Reaper in Overwatch. Saladin hosts a PvP gamemode called Iron Banner in Destiny and if you go on a crazy killstreak sometimes he'll reference the line Reaper says during his ult, "Die! Die! Di-(cough) Sorry. I've been watching too many Iron Banner matches. What time is it? Shaxx? Shaxx, are you there? Can you get me a water? Stop yelling, it's just a question. I'm not old!" In regards to the player character, they are mostly a silent protagonist and it kinda sucks because our Ghost talks for us all the time. Even when people are talking directly to US. It makes the moments when they DO talk pretty huge. Outside of talking, our character has a personality in lore, and its basically a culmination of every player ever. Ikora has her Hidden agents, a group of spies that gather info in secret. They designate targets to watch as VIPs. We are VIP#2014 (2014 being the year Destiny released) and I cant find the exact lore entry this comes from i just remember Byf talking about it but one of the Hidden has a report on us where we are like entirely silent, often die A LOT (usually to our own rocket launchers), get a gun and proceed to test dozens of color palettes on it before dismantling it right then and there, and when approached we just give the Hidden agent a high five before transmatting away.

Destiny had a really frustrating habit of hiding a lot of its lore "outside" of the game [mostly in the "Grimoire", which you could unlock lore entries through gameplay and view them on the website]. Fortunately, they got MUCH better in Destiny 2. SIVA is essentially programmable matter that can be used for a multitude of purposes; from creating ships, buildings, weapons, etc., to eating away at obstacles in their path. If you'd like to see more on SIVA, there's a bit of mention about SIVA and Felwinter (he's got some interesting ties to Rasputin) during "Season of the Worthy in Destiny 2, and I very much recommend checking that out. Especially the story Rasputin tells the Guardian. Love the reactions, and I hope to see more Destiny soon!

A little background for ya on SIVA since you asked. SIVA was originally designed and built by a company called Braytech. This corporation was an absolute POWERHOUSE during humanity's golden age before the collapse. The technology was originally designed to utilize nanotechnology that would take raw resources and build technologies capable of supporting life and future colonization of different planets. It could take materials from the surrounding area and build things that by human hands would take months to build, and do it in hours. Cities could be built in weeks, cities that would have taken decades to build. Houses, water purification systems, agricultural plot developments, offices, and EVERYTHING in-between. Until the events of Destiny took place where it got corrupted.

Aw you didn't react to Lady Efrideet cutscene. She's an Iron Lord too. And here you'd think Lord Saladin is the last Iron Lord but Efrideet is still alive

The story of the Iron Lord known as Felwinter is one of the best stories in Destiny. Hopefully you can find out about that.

SIVA is a nanotechnology that was developed in the golden age. It doesn't really have a mind of its own and it follows any orders that some gives it. It is a little difficult to control because the technology wasn't perfected. You were right about SIVA's story not being over because in the raid you fight Aksis who is using SIVA. The fallen's culture view machines as gods and Aksis was trying to ascend to godhood by infusing SIVA with himself and the other fallen. 38:03 that was not my reaction as I finished the dlc xD I was hoping for the fire axe but got a bad sword instead, while already having Darktrinker and Tilger (best swords) in my inventory :/

So basically Lord saladin was one of the original iron lords, who were basically the original guardians. See when risen some saw this power as a tool to enslave others and became Warlords...these were risen who turned bad and the iron lords were those who chose good. They tried to rebuild humanity with SIVA, a nanotechnology but rasputin killed off them all except 2... this is explained later WHY he attacked them but thats spoilers :) Since then saladin has hosted the iron banner games to strengthen guardians and AFTER this DLC starts inducting new guardians into the iron lords naming them young wolves. Then you eventually become a full fledged iron lord. I can't go into to much detail because spoilers but the iron lords were basically old school knights, defenders of good and battle against evil with the powers of the light and gunw.

I guess this means you're gonna be rolling into Destiny 2 stuff soonish? Destiny 1 got good from taken king onward but Destiny 2 starts okish and only ramps up from there would be cool to see you guys check it out

SIVA is basically the flood from Halo but if it was a technological virus/plague/infestation instead of a biological one. Only SIVA doesn’t have a conscience or leading voice like the flood does. It acts within its parameters to upgrade and replicate, only those parameters have been corrupted with time as SIVA was made during humanity’s golden age, which happened long before the start of Destiny 1

A little awkward hearing the Iron Lord memorial hall be called a throne room

SIVA is a Golden Age nanotechnology that was designed to build cities and manufacture goods on the new planets that humanity would settle outside of the Sol system. Each of the colony ships from the Exodus program was stocked with SIVA so that the pains of starting over on a new world was minimal. To quote a grimoire entry from the game "SIVA mites reuse the energy and matter based on a set of programmable directives. SIVA does not cease until said directives are complete". After humanity's Collapse, SIVA was controlled by Rasputin to defend itself using the directive ""Cauterize. Eliminate. Immunize."" Under the Fallen Splicers, who gained access to it after the Iron Lords decimated most of its stores in the Cosmodrome, it was given the directive "~CONSUME ENHANCE REPLICATE~". Because "replicate" is the final directive, the SIVA here is essentially a virus, forever pursuing the goal of replicating itself through the consumation and enhancement of all other matter until it's destroyed all else or is destroyed itself.

This was HANDS DOWN my favorite campaign to play through. The Witch Queen comes second. The enemy design were absolutely amazing and the SIVA Fallen remain my favorite enemy subgroup. The Scarlet Hive comes second in that regard.
