did you just paint the headliner after pulling the cloth off ?

The headliner was bare when I bought the Jeep. I didn't need to take off the cloth or foam. I have seen others just take a stiff brush to clean off the foam and glue. I was able to just paint over what was there since it was clean.

@@simpleoverlander cool thanks ! i was going to redo my headliner and try to add some storage, but this looks awesome, cheap, easy, functional, and much easier to clean. i think i will do this instead. thanks for the videos, good luck with the rest of the overland build, b safe on your trip

Thanks for the shout out!. Your video gave me some ideas. What are your thoughts on coating the back of the headliner with fiberglass to stiffen before i start any mods? Also what type of seat covers are those and are you happy with them?

No problem...thanks for the idea. It saved me a lot of time. I even used the method to put the holes in the headliner. You could do that if you plan on putting tension on the headliner laterally, or if you have any damage to it, but otherwise it may not be needed. I have had all that stuff hanging on mine for years, through trails, horrible dirt roads, and 30k miles and never had any issue with the integrity of the board. My only issue was when I tried to really tighten the nets, to prevent sagging, I almost folded the headline in half while it was out of the vehicle. ( I got lucky). So I didn't put the tension on it till it was back in place with all the trim attached. The only areas that need reinforcing really are where you have anything pulling on the headliner...But if you strengthened the whole thing with fiberglass, then theoretically you may not need to do that for each point. Just don't make it too thick or it may not nest back in place well. The seat covers are actually for a 2004 Wrangler. My girlfriend got them and never used them, so I tried them and they fit great.I like them and have had them for years. Here is the link, but only the front covers will fit (the design has changed some) www.4wd.com/p/smittybilt-neoprene-front-and-rear-seat-cover-kit-black-red-471330/_/R-DSBP-471330

Nice job ! Taking headliner down and put it back up seemed like major pain ! Where did you find the nets ? Do they make small size ones ? I’m sure I can find room in my Jeep to add some 😬

Yeah...It was a major pain. But I got a lot done that I did not show. I pushed the dent out of my roof, added reflectix on the roof, took video of all the sheet metal behind the headliner in case I want to drill or screw something in, and added all the extra stuff. It was worth it overall but was not a fun time haha. You should have told me sooner about the nets. They had small nets at the salvage store last weak for cheap! I almost bought them but don't need more stuff lol. I will keep a look out. Otherwise Walmart might actually have them, or look on eBay. I got mine at the salvage store and junk yard.
