Yes enjoyed your video. I have a isx 450 bought new in 2000 no emmision crap on it. Rebuilt it at 450,000 cummins used a new liner in them. Had to go back to old style. Now has 1,745.000 on it. Just got guy that rebuilt years ago fixing leak in front of engine this weekend. Big job. front cover over the timing gears. Around a twenty hour job. That engine is still running great. Just pull a spread axle stepdeck.
Nice work making something reliable vs. how much of a nightmare the OEM setup is to work on as well. Done right like this and it's night and day better! 👍😁
HD mechanic in SK here. Like what you've done with the pete, bet it sounds awesome! When I do deletes I always prefer to leave the DPF/SCR/DOC filter assemblies in place and just remove the insides. Weld block off plates in the exhaust feed to the egr cooler, plate off the intake side. Leave everything in place so the delete cannot be visually identified. Some people like doing the vgt delete, i personally have no experience with it. Replaced a vgt turbo on an x15 last week that cost 8900 Canadian not including the actuator, so i can definitely see the reasoning behind that! Our programing is done by hooking up insite program and my tuner does the reflash remotely using team viewer. We also deletes on DD15/16 engines using the same process except detroit program not insite.
That's stupid. First, anyone who has been around a diesel engine will immediately recognize a deleted truck by soot in the exhaust and elevated turbine noise in the exhaust. When you punch out a dpf you ruin an expensive piece of hardware that can be resold to someone who needs to replace their dpf.
That’s not true, unless you like sleeping beside one of these machines to inhale their toxic gases in your sleeper. If you do regular maintenance even if you have no issues they perform well
As both a diesel owner and with mechanical background some emissions aren't bad for the truck and some are. Dep and def are systems that help environment as well it doesn't hinder engine performance greatly. That being said EGR systems that are designed currently are horrible on engines and hinder health and performance in which a better system should be designed. My engine had crank breather going in front of turbo which can suck oil in which is not healthy for an engine in turn is worse for environment because it is running poorly. You don't have to hate a side or jump to concussions about people. We are smarter than that...I do like the truck but would be nice to know how you handled the computer side of those modifications.
Cummins make a great engine just take care of them. Fresh oil change next morning loaded. Crack open that 3 stage Jake. Wake up the school children. Time for the bus.
Why did you delete the vgt turbo? Just curious . I have a cm871 fully deleted but I don’t think they did a good job. Would love to get it looked over but I’m from New Jersey.
The hardware looks looks good but I've read the ecm reprogramming is where most of the troubles is at? The computer needs to run a different calibrations now for optimum performance and since it's not legal the knowledge for that is very limited.
this is so far from accurate. oh my god the media has u dumed down. anyone with a basic understanding of cpu calibration could tune the cpu. your like almost laughably uninformed.
So far I haven't done anything for the 3rd stage of engine brake, but I have some plans in mind. The air compressor intakes from just in front of the turbo from factory. So when I got rid of the VGT turbo the intake was the closest place for filtered air.
@@peterbiltlogger1189 oh ok. I have a CM2350 and that hole on the intake was for the EGR. I just blocked it off with a plate. I didn’t know your air compressor got air from there. I have heard of that though.
Is the heater hose necessary because the egr kits just come with Normal block off plates but I've heard the coolant won't flow correctly the cylinder #6 if you don't do that heater hose mod
Yes you need coolant flow to the back the block. If you leave the EGR cooler on and just block off the exhaust part works fine too. As long as you don't block the coolant flow through it.
Ya not any time soon in Alberta and all these deleted trucks would be grandfathered it just the way the laws are written here. You can put anything on the road here including tracked vehicles (tanks) and home built stuff and NONE of it has to pass emissions testing. There is no emissions testing in the province and emissions systems are not part of commercial vehicle inspections and there is no Provincial Gov't inspections on private vehicles unless it is from out of province and that is just a one time safety inspection for initial registration and does not include emissions equipment.
The BW 1702 didn't last on mine either. I'm running a 1710 with a 78mm compressor now and a 1.32 AR waste gated exhaust housing I got from Momentum Worx. Keeps the boost between 30-35psi. Working well so far. Without the wastegate it would boost over 40psi. Too much in my opinion.
@@peterbiltlogger1189 I switched to a 1710 as well. Was just looking to grab another at Engine Parts Canada in Lloyd and theyre only selling them with the 270 bearing. I was looking for the 360 bearing and can only find em in the US. And they went way up in price too
@@peterbiltlogger1189 I'm running non wastegated and did have an issue with hitting over 40 boost in my 2250. Found I had a bad injector and now itll only hit about 35 or so
Ok Awsum mine runs the same then, just bought a 2013 Pete and put 1600km on it with a secondary load of logs and blew the #2 cylinder head gasket, cracked head and cracked piston
How long has it been deleted? I have an x15 efficiency 500/1850. Deleted with stock tune. Blown up twice in 4 months. I’m putting full emissions back on.
If you didn’t do anything else but just eliminate the EGR it still be bucks ahead but you did the right thing getting rid of all that other shit anyway this is six in row jim from Kennerdell Pennsylvania I go by six in A row jim I have a 91.5 dodge give you three guesses with Sunderland hood got over 500,000 miles on it still runs good starts extremely Welwyn very cold weather so I tells me the Asian store in good shape all right keep going with you doing dude make that money
@Paul N Did you keep the factory turbo? I just unplugged my turbo speed sensor and taped up the plug and zip tied it back to the engine harness out of the way. I haven't had any issues with that. That is likely a question for your tuner.
@@peterbiltlogger1189 Yes, I kept the factory turbo for now. My plan is a new manifold to eliminate all of that. I will try what you did. The truck runs great, it's the annoying MIL light that keeps coming on.
@Robert White I had a local shop flash the ECU. Fuel mileage is definitely better but with the weight we haul and the ground we haul on it's never good. Think I'm around 3.5mpg.
what does flashing the ecu mean? Is that basically hooking a computer up to the truck and re tuning it now that these components are gone? Is that something we can do our selves? Otherwise might be hard to find a shop willing to do this right? thanks.
@@tylerhall6455 That's exactly it. You need to find a reputable shop that builds good tunes. I am very happy with this one so far but I only have about 1600 hrs on it. Time will tell. And depending on where you are located it may be difficult to get done. Here in Alberta we can still run deleted.
@@peterbiltlogger1189 from the states but having to run up into Alberta for the next couple of months and been wanting to get all the stuff taken off my truck. I figured since it’s still legal up there and not hush hush like back home y’all would gave a lot more reputable tuners than all the guys down here. Iv found a place in Calgary and Edmonton but was wondering where you got yours done since you seem to not be having any issues with it.
I have an X15 in my 22' 389 which I deleted after my first emissions derate issue. Debated on getting a non vgt setup as well but my stock turbo setup gives the engine ridiculous engine brakes. The stock vgt makes the exhaust have a weird whoosh note to straight exhaust as well. Another reason I want to non vgt it. Greats videos btw!
@@bornlegendgaming3790 power to you man…. I got a 2020 KW and tempting to do the same. But I guess some are more go get it than others!!!😬 let me know how you’re truck does. TÍA👍
@@dsotojc4645 my Ambient Outside Air Temp sensor shit the bed causing a derate on my truck and peterbilt told me it would be 4 to 5 weeks till they could get my truck in so I just emissions deleted and just bypassed the DPF filter with a straight pipe back to my Y pipe on my stacks. At first it ran slow in my opinion for about 400 miles till I guess motor and ECM got it figured out and now I'm getting 6 mpg vs the 5.5 non deleted and I pull hills better. Stock tune not added power. I can do low 6s all week long but granted I do flatbed and have a stand up sleeper not flattop so that helps with mpg but I do notice it runs better. Just now warranty is trash on the motor but I didn't get an extended one when I purchased it last year as my down payment was maxed as it was so only 80,000 more miles and the warranty would be up anyways
@James Caliendo Yes the engine brake performance suffered significantly by removing the VGT turbo. It is the one disadvantage I've found. I do have some ideas I'm planning on trying though to improve it.
@Peterbilt Logger ahhhh ok yes. I've heard that in the past. The Jake's don't perform as well. But all In all I dig what you've done and wish you and your family the best of good fortune
@@peterbiltlogger1189 You can rig up the original turbo by removing the VGT actuator. Some how rig an actuating air cylinder to the turbo shift lever. You can operate it manually for jaking.Bit of a hack deal, but it might work.
@Mike Beasecker Some guys I've talked to up here are not getting very good life out of the VGT turbo after deleting the rest of the emissions system. Not sure if that's a tuning issue or not but they are very expensive to replace. And I also wanted to run straight pipes, and in my opinion the Cummins sound terrible with a VGT turbo unless you muffle them way down.
The turbo operation is intertwined with the egr operation and what tends to happen is the VGT isn't remapped properly or at all and the turbo over spins greatly reducing the life of the turbo.
The vgt from cm870 would work, if you still wanted to use vgt. 2007 programing with some egr delete programing works good. I've seen a delete using a detroit 60 turbo. Made lots of power. Dont know about his longevity. Lol
Out of curiosity, what are the repercussions for doing this in CA? In the US, the EPA can fine you up to $37K USD per day for it if I understand the law correctly 🙄
In Alberta I don't believe there are any repercussions so far. It may be coming at some point but you don't need the original emissions equipment to pass inspection currently.
Hopefully if they do start mandating it, there will be exceptions for already installed hardware! I'm no mechanic, but from everything I've read, you've extended the life of your motor substantially. Not to mention all the performance enhancement. Nice rig! 🤘
It gets tricky when the factory puts out a recall notice in calif the dmv will not license the truck until a dealer fixes the recall problem .& when you go to a dealer when they see it has been deleted they will not touch it , keep old parts!!!
2 things. First of all you're going to blow out your air compressor by running the intake hose like that. That's putting pressurized air in there. The intake hose needs routed to the air cleaner pipe. Also if you're gonna go this route with a sig600 turbo and eliminate the vgt you can add another jake brake rocker shaft and jake solenoid to the rockers so you're jaking all 6 cylinders. We always had good luck with these. Just make sure if you crank up the hps that you're easy on the pedal for the first 5-10k miles. Or you'll crack a head.
@@bilwood6360 A pretty well educated opinion. Not my intention to be a dick, but literally everything in that comment is wrong. A little reading through Cummins tech manual will learn you all about it
@@dieseljett1 I'm not gonna sit here and say I know it all. I'm still learning. But I'd love to hear your credentials. If I'm being honest I was drunk when I wrote this. But I've never taken an air compressor from negative intake air and put positive air to it. Doesn't seem like the right thing to do. I've seen compressors blow out due to it. Not alot but some. Also I meant you add a jake solenoid to increase jake oil psi. You gotta change the shaft to a dual drilled shaft. And if you wanna give all the beans to a freshly increased horsepower engine that's been broke in at a lower hp its whole life...more power to you. But you'll be overhauling it in less than a month.
Ya no EPA in Canada and regulations regarding emissions after purchase are a Provincial jurisdiction NOT Federal.. See unlike in the US Canadians have actual freedom and do not have big brother managing every aspect of their lives...
