before I get even more comments saying: how can you compare a 300$ speaker with a 2000$ one. This is NO sound comparison, it's just a demonstration which is showing how much the drivers move. Also no one discovered the "low frequency mode" on the JBL when I uploaded the video. Next time please read the other 100 comments which all say the same instead of commenting the stuff again.
Speaker Toni clearly the phantom can sound louder and more bass even with the jbl on low frequency and try the golden phantom better than the silver phantom more bass no distortion best audio quality
+clavinetjunkie haha ja:) Die devialet sind echt was einzigartiges!
AnA LM READ THE OTHER COMMENTS. I don't know if you are blind on both eyes or just stupid. I said so many times that this is NOT a sound comparison. And instead of reading other comments to see if you got the video wrong you just go ahead and write your "critic" under my comments.
honestly it's pissing me off how many people are saying the Phantom is fake or not good like first off... the person that's recording this doesn't have a good enough microphone to capture it's full range. then whatever your listening to had to have the capacity to play it the same way. go out and look at the gold phantom it's literally the best in the bass department. it's a youtube video for God's sakes use your brains and realize it won't be the same.
Mike burns mhh, this video was no real sound test so it was recorded with my phone. Otherwise I use DPA 4060 binaural mics and they can very well capture 90% of the phantom sound.
What are the mids and highs like? Using that PoS small single front facing driver, doesn't seem promising. The lows are tremendous though. Maybe they should make this into a stand-alone subwoofer.
djlobb no, treble and mids are just fine. As long as they use high quality components size doesn't matter. The treble could have more resolution but it's almost as good as two stand alone speakers.
Good review. Lol yeah sounds good but I think I'll buy about 10 harmon hardon studio onyx 4s for the price of 1 phantom and still have about $1500 left over. I'll spread them around my place and dual link the HKs for a total true surround sound around the house and not just one room. The HK can be used totally wireless as well. I will also surround the phantom with the ten HK speakers turn up it up full throttle and cause the phantom to explode. Lol
Mr. Banana only if you overdrive them :) It’s really not that hard to play the most bass heavy track, and turn the volume up until just before distortion/limits. But most people aren’t very cluey when it comes to speakers lol, just turn it up to the max they say
If you press and hold the bluetooth button and volume up on the JBL it'll disable the limitations for frequencies so the radiators would actually move if you cared
@@NIGHTWULF It depends where you put your speaker and it just disables !JBL's equalizer settings and makes the speaker sound flat and balanced. It gives the speaker the full range of frequencies instead of pitching up the low frequencies to a higher octave. The mid range frequencies are better pronounced which makes it play the piano a bit louder and more pronounced. !JBL's equalizer settings are V shaped and if you disable the settings using the button combination the equalizer settings are -- shaped. and you can actually hear frequencies of 20hz or even lower sometimes if you put the speaker in a corner. It makes it even better if you have two of them.
I think all the model is about the same, just the loudness is different. If you listen at low volume, it is all the same, but when you go to concert level, hall level, to broadcast to bigger audience, gold will be the best. But if you listen yourself in the room, the most common one will be more than sufficient.
WailfulPlane114 well then that means that you can't the flip 3 or flip 4 I'm sorry but that also means that you should I don't know, *GET A JOB WHEN YOU ARE OLDER*
Im curious, with the woofers being hermetically sealed, how is it at moving air? I don't see that it does it in the conventional sense so is the effect quite different? better? strange? same? Thanks for any input.
Pressurised focus of air with a bigger excursion from the woofers than usual in a very precise vacuum seal. It produces the bass just as it should with no difference (effect-wise) to a traditional subwoofer apart from it being some of the most precise bass I have ever heard. The woofers are digitally controlled and the excursion is precise down to the nanosecond for the audio coming into the DSP. Every bit of audio that is played it analysed in real-time and matched accurately to the drivers for optimal playback for that hardware. Check out Devialet's technology called "SAM". It explains it very well.
***** thanks for the reply, I'll check the sam, fantastic looking speaker though I like my focal special editions too much to consider another pair anytime soon.
+Kayle Matesich I dont get it. Older servo technology by yamaha also measures subs deviation. Maybe the movement is accurate, but it wont guarantee the bass output is real and natural compared to the source.
You'll probably want to have a look at Devialet's SAM working on one of their Amplifiers matched to the speakers. This is a little more advanced and beyond my skill set to explain fully in-depth. Basically for a Devialet amplifier the SAM is able to match the output accurately to the physical limits of the speakers as to never exceed the limits but play right on the very edge to get the most out of the drivers, all individually and independently. It also helps the drivers reach lower frequencies than previously because it knows the way the driver moves and performs under different loads and can use that understanding to control the driver more accurately for a lower frequency. SAM on the Phantom is a step up because the woofers are already optimised and matched to the enclosure and amps. The audio is read to detect the best way to handle the bass with the drivers at hand. SAM allows the Phantom to be pushed to it's maximum limits without impacting quality but also without damaging or causing inconsistencies with the output because the system already knows the physical limits to itself before playing. So if it needs more of a thump it can create it in different ways that don't exceed the limits of the woofers but also don't necessarily impact the trueness and realness of the sound.
Ddo this outlasts the 15 hours on battery time of the JBL Xtreme? can I pour water or play in the rain outside? Just want to make sure what this is capable of besides what we all hear here. Thanks
adnoHis1 the phantom is something completely different and better than the Xtreme! It sounds so so much better in every way:) But it has no batteries. You place it in a section of your house or so and then play music. It also costs 2000$. At that price I wouldn't take it outside!
I just tried "Bass I love You" on the Devialet Phantom at the Apple Store today, and it seems like its specs are off. Although it might have hit 17 hz, its more like -25dB (when listening at a standing node) instead of -6dB like they stated. Also, it didn't sound too crisp. So yeah, it seems way overpriced. It also doesn't seems like it even has 200 watts!
00crashtest But it's not about shaking the walls ! It's about sound quality, acoustic capabilities,... And in this price range, there is nothing better or even equivalent.
nice97235 so a damn boom box is considered SQ wow just wow 🤦🏻♂️ I have build nice SQ system both in my vehicle and home audio 4000 bucks you can build a nice atmos system right their
00crashtest I agree its overpriced, most of that money goes to the flashy gimmicky stuff to make the speaker look cool, obviously you can get a much cheaper subwoofer with much better bass
u need to put the jbl xtreame on low frequency mode to get that bass from i love u bass' just simply hold down the bluetooth button and the button u use to turn it down
I would get the white phantom;) Because there is no sound difference and it looks better in my opinion! The silver phantom is just a little bit louder. So when you want to do a HUGE party I would take the silver phantom. But for normal/loud listening the white phantom is great! And you will have some money left:-)So you can buy a phantom remote or a dialog.
....is not about the price.... it's about experience, competition, DNA... charge!....even 100w to less than 30w....sound of JBL...much dynamical and reach....soft and crispy....200years experience against 10 years ...or less ...Jbl is monster!!!
Lmao everyone keeps saying turn on lfm but the lfm will sound horrible to the phantom and plus the phantom can make low frequency that is clean and clear with no destorsion
Any chance you have a calibrated mic that you can do a test and post a frequency response chart at max volume? I really want to see if it is true this thing is +-0.2db from 20hz-20khz.
Rex McArtor I've just bought a hi-end system with Marantz electronics and Quadral speakers and this blows away the Phantom and the Klipsch together;-) + it costs less. Don't spend over 1.000$ on a all in one system! Better get a stereo system, I promise that it will sound so much better. I just noticed that and I'am really disappointed by these all in one systems. Ps: the stadium won't go down to 20hz either. The phantom will go lower than the Klipsch.
Not looking for home. Got a good surround system. I currently have a klipsch KMC3 for at work. Someday want to upgrade. Was looking at the stadium as it goes to 26hz (30hz at 110db). Most people who will be using the speaker enjoy bass so looking for the smallest package that can go as low as possible.
Rex McArtor for what do you need the speaker? You may be satisfied with the new Harman Kardon Go+Play. This isn't as loud but it will sound better than the kmc3. Today I will upload a comparison between the Kmc3 and the Go+Play.
so many jbl fan boys going on about low frequency mode... like seriously its just dsp processing turned off. It distorts like hell anyways like that. Still not a comparison, its just the way the radiators move he wants to show us
