This is my favorite game, because not only do they have Nero from the Devil May Cry series, but they also decided to include Dante from the Marvel vs Capcom series. Great crossover.
Yeah I haven’t watched the movie is a while but isn’t that how the movie ends? Bugs life dual weilds motorcycles and kills the grasshoppers for saying super Mario 64 sucks.
It was nice to have Dante in Big Chungus while we waited, but honestly, that game got old quick once Reddit started over hyping it. I'm just glad that DMC 5 is finally out, so fans don't have to watch Dante get vored by Bugs Bunny in every cutscene. It felt so redundant I could barely get hard to it anymore.
Julius Ceasar Truya not sure if you’re talking about the “devil” part of it, but “are you gonna cry? you gonna pee your pants?” is a common thing bullies say in movies/tv shows
@@nevanito Salty BOI. I love Nero, I really do. Just imagining him thinking "Oh man the first chance I get I'm gonna call him dead weight right back to him. That'll really get under his skin in the way that him calling me dead weight definitely, 100% didn't, I assure you"
@@nevanito It's even funnier when you realize the game takes place during the time span of over one month. Nero seriously held that petty grudge for over a month when Dante had seemingly forgotten about it by the end.
@@PRLCKLY it actually has a meaning, it means the time when u fuck up is measured by the clock, as a moment, in your memory, but a time when u fuck up and learn from it you gain wisedom, which cannot be measured by a clock, therefore it is no significant moment, or an embarrassing memory that or I am just too sleepy
>Dunkey's gag calling Nero "Zero" >Johnny Yong Bosch is his actor/voice >also the voice for english Lelouch from Code Geass >who disguises and calls himself Zero >let's not even mention Zero from Megaman there were layers to that joke, but I'm not sure they were intentional.
Also a little fact Capcom did A Nightmare Before Christmas game in 2004-2005 with Concepts from games like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry 4 however mostly following the Devil May Cry series, main character Jack has a dog named Zero
Thanks for the support. I've been a fan of Devil May Cry since it's first entry on ps1 was still fresh. I'd say it got me into action games more than any other, but has also remained my staple. Devil May Cry 3 in particular is a masterpiece. But, so is 5.
@@nestormelendez9005 oh. Then I understand why he made a whole vid about his expressed happiness lol. Truly all the RU-vidrs community was feasting that day.😆 Thanks for clarifying it.
@@wowitsfrostygames155 I watched the video twice and still don't get it but I guess explaining the joke instead od telling me to watch the video again would be just too helpful.
RainingAnarchy11 yes, the joke is referring to the “hold my beer” meme, but replacing “beer” with the guy that was dressed up as a chicken for the previsualization. It doesn’t take a genius to understand that. However the point is nobody even says “deluxe editions make games worse” so the joke doesn’t make sense. It’s supposed to be something that’s commonly said, then someone goes “hold my beer” to prove them wrong.
Devil May Cry feels like a game that was made with phrases like, "wouldn't it be cool if" and "wouldn't it be funny if" instead of the more popular phrases nowdays of "what does the player collected data and marketing team say to do".
Big companies don't care if their games are received well; they want their games to make money. They're closely connected, but they're not exactly the same thing, and they are not gonna let slip any chance to do the important part, even if it happens to be missing the other part.
@@Mr_Wallet Precisely. DMC 4 was considered a disappointment by Capcom, because they project sales to rival that of CoD, and God of War, despite both series eclipsing them at any given time. The U.S at the time simply bought more games than Japan, or any other country, and Japan consumers were specifically buying less. Therefore, it seemed like a good idea to jump towards a more Western-styled game, to establish the brand as Triple-A, when it's previously always been niche. For the record, I think that DmC is a blight on the DMC series, but I don't think it's straight-up terrible like DMC 2 is.
I just like how the combat is so deep. I’ve played Dante must die and the skill jump makes you feel so proud of your ability to understand the game and the exploration in the combat
@@Alignn x8/command mission/Maverick Hunter Zero lines were all done by Lucas Gilbertson, but he's not voicing zero anymore (unfortunately, loved his work)
*"I've **_always_** talked about how there aren't enough games that allow you to suspend a giant demonic ant in the air with a revolver that shoots two bullets at once.."*
OK so I love this game. I'm a fan of this franchise and I was honestly expecting him to give it a 3. But you should know what you're getting if you buy. It's somewhat light on story and there's a bit of a lack of area originality at a certain point. But this game shines in the combat. The fluidity and just general fun to play. It's hack and slash at its best. It very much what you see is what you get. So if that not your thing then it's not for you.
"O that this too too solid flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew! Or that the Everlasting had not fix’d His canon ’gainst self-slaughter! O God! O God! "the villain isnt super menacing" Urizen: curbstomps every single main character that can fight (besides V, who he never canonically fights) at least once, slaughters untold numbers of people by way of an evil vampire tree, lays siege to the entire world with an army of incredibly powerful demons and ends up returning to his original form at the height of his power
Idk. Being the strongest doesn't make him super menacing. Urizen is kinda flat, his goals are vague, and the reprocussions of him achieving them are never stated or clarified
@@Cloneman-ic9rx How are his goals vague? He's after as much power as he can obtain; this single-minded focus is what causes him to not destroy Nero, Dante or V when he has the chance because he'd rather slap them aside to focus on what he's trying to do, which acts as a significant flaw. And Urizen himself is pretty flat but that's... kinda the point. He's SPOILER . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . a physical manifestation of Vergil's lust for power, without any of the humanity Vergil felt was holding him back. He's not complex but it makes sense in universe because he's the worst parts of Vergil given mind and body, and what comes from his actions adds more depth to Vergil. Besides, the repercussions are pretty obvious; Urizen wants power, and he will commit mass genocide to get it. Humanity will suffer under his strength, assuming he allows them to live.
@@RegalRoyalWasTaken Yes, but who cares about the suffering of humanity? No, seriously. Within the context of dmc, human life is worth very, very little, to that of the narrative and to the characters themselves (unless that human life is someone they are personally close to). The countless deaths Vergil caused in this game alone is not mentioned once or brought up, even after his "redemption", and he seemingly feels no remorse. V, which is Vergil's human half, never even comments on this as he explores the ruins of the world left in his wake. And I'm aware of WHY Urizen is simple, but that simplicity is exactly what detracts from whatever intimidating qualities he may posses. It's impossible NOT to compare him to other "big bads", and when that is done, his simple goal of "me want more power" takes a lot out of him. Additionally, his goal for power is centered around the Qliphoth. That's his driving point. And he obtains it- and his goal shifts to beating Dante. The damage needing to forge the Qliphoth is already done, and Urizen never speaks about ruling over humanity. He simply desired more power, and he got it, and now he wants to get rid of Dante. There's not really any stakes for me to care about there- if you look at it from the perspective of protecting the innocent, the good guys already lost.
@@Cloneman-ic9rx You. do realize that we don't get an opportunity to see what happens to Vergil following all that right?? Because it's at the end of the game and it's being left open for what comes next. And how does human life not matter to the characters, Dante literally runs a business putting his life on the line for other people's sake. People he doesn't know. And in DMC4, Nero, after fighting Dante, tells him to get everyone to safety while he fights the demons. And everything Vergil supposedly should pay for he... didn't really do. Urizen is not Vergil; he's one half of him yes, but he also lacks what makes Vergil human and therefore is just power lust run wild; a manifestation of Vergil's desires without the morality to not go as far as Urizen did. Characters don't need to be complex to be engaging. Urizen is a big bad demon that's extremely strong and born from Vergil's mistaken assumption regarding what power is. That's all he is. He acts as proof to Vergil that he was wrong, and that's all he needs to be.
@@RegalRoyalWasTaken @Miss Rose We DO see what happens. Not extensively, but we do have an epilogue. Vergil and Dante go on vacation in hell, rekindle their relationship, and cultivate a healthy rivalry. It is a happy ending, however, Dante never confronts Vergil about the attrocities he's committed- nor is he shown as intending to, nor does he speak on doing so prior. Same with Nero. They moreso care just about Vergil, as opposed to the deeds he's committed. Dante runs a business putting his life on the line for MONEY. He rarely stresses over casualties- it is about stopping the demonic entity, and making money off of it. Not to say Dante is callous or anything, but it is something he doesn't concern himself with. As far as Vergil not being responsible for the actions of Urizen... He made the conscious decision to create Urizen. He is responsible for the actions brought forth from it, and the fact that he does not even feel remorse after his time as V really speaks to how little human life matters in dmc5. One Dante voiceline in dmc4 doesn't validate an entire series of disregard for human life. It could also be interpreted at Dante trying to spare Nero the emotional damage of his hometown becoming filled with corpses.
@@razvandavid1510 Yeah the problem with that is the Shakespeare line was just a joke from Griffon but he actually reads Auguries of Innocence by William Blake when you press Right Trigger in game to read from his book.
Your reviews are incredibly perceptive: You get straight to the nitty gritty of what matters in a game and cut out the bullshit. I appreciate the hell out of that.
Ha. You know I like a how some of the best video game franchises came from resident evil. Dmc was originally supposed to be resident evil 4. The red dead series was originally made by capcom to be a resident evil spinoff until capcom sold the rights of the game and the studio to Rockstar. Onimusha and Dino Crisis too were meant to be spin offs and you can see the design philosophy that they used from with the fixed cameras and the use of herbs from resident evil. Dead Space basically was made to be a Resident evil rival by Visceral. So many franchises were born out of resident evil.
The most important thing about Dunkviews is the tremendous consistency of the ratings. I had this pegged as a 4/5 from about a quarter of the way through the video. Dunk knows how to represent the people.
“Tyler, Tyger, burning bright, In the forests of the night; What immortal hand or eye, Could frame thy fearful symmetry? In what distant deeps or skies. Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand, dare seize the fire? And what shoulder, & what art, Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand? & what dread feet? What the hammer? what the chain, In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? what dread grasp, Dare its deadly terrors clasp! When the stars threw down their spears And water'd heaven with their tears: Did he smile his work to see? Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
