I've got a plan, a plan to use my spare diamonds. But I've not thought small. I've gone MASSIVE!

I was going to prep my next diamond painting while listening to you but after I labeled the back side of the sticker paper I had to just watch lol. I am in love with this idea, as a great way to use spares!

I think you're crazy, but I'm one in the same! I can never do a "trial" size when starting a new craft! It's always go big or go home! For instance, I just started diamond painting & my 1st ever canvas is a 16"x20" Round Drill Starry Night! I'm super excited to see how your project goes! I'd love to get to this point & add the extra challenge!

I just watched a video by another diamond painter and she mentioned that you can make a custom painting out of your own photos or other pics that are not copy righted. She used Stitch Art Easy 4.0 It is a free application and i downloaded it.....tried it on one of my pics......it works. She had some pointers and actually 4 small videos to explain the app and how to work with it. Her site is Lovecraftforever if you are interested in seeing it

I wasnt sure what project to start with so I went for the freebies, a piece called Maui Princess by Hannah Disney xD It has less colours then yours, but I'm very excited to start it.

What size canvas did u get ,as I worked it out to 100cm x 125cm but when looked the design reads 400x 543 stitches, so what size did u get and what sticky area

I have subscribed to your channel to see how this goes for you. It looks like it will be absolutely beautiful when finished but I prefer to use rounds myself. Plus I would substitute some of the colours for the beautiful colours that you already have like that peachy orange shade. Good luck. 😊

Thank you, I like working in rounds too; however, it would show too much white doing this in rounds (I might add one or two in though for interest). Substituting colours may be done in the future, but for now I'm following the pattern for the shading it will bring.

I absolutely love this idea... You’ve got me very intrigued by this. 😁 I would love to do something like this but I wouldn’t have the foggiest idea where to start.. I just looked on the website and there are so many wonderful pictures to choose from. How would you order the canvas for any of the pictures? I’m not sure if that is a dumb question or not but just seems a little confusing to me. Lol 🤪..

It's a great thing to do. I got most if not all of my information from the facebook group - HAED Diamond painting. They have a file section which is full of information. Start there then shout up with any questions. I'll try and do a video guide too. (I'm just not sure how soon I can do it)

yes you can order customs in round. The blank canvas it better to work in square though as it covers all the white background. Many companies will put the picture onto canvas for you in a round though.

Been watching since I started a few weeks ago. I've also decided to do but the mini version. Also doing max colours. And I've not even done a square yet lol. Got the chart and just ordered canvas. Will be half the size of yours. Thank you for the vids though. Love watching, especially kitting up cos I love the organisation too. X

So I’m confused because I wanted to start something like this but a couple of the dmc colors were a 1-2 digit number but all the charts that I have seen start with 150. What do I do?

There are conversions for those numbers. I think you need to google closest match to new DMC numbers and it will tell you the best ones to substitute them for.

How do I order the chart that is in the piece of paper you have? Wheres the best place to start and order from?

I got it from heavenandearthdesigns.com It's the PDF version and I printed it out.

LOVE the picture you chose! Looking forward to following along on the journey. Out of curiosity, how many pages are there in your pattern, and how many pages across is the picture? Great idea to do a long, narrow picture so it’s easier to work on in a limited space and to use up spare drills!

Thanks. There is 22 pages in this design, it's 2 pages across and 11 pages down. (the last 2 are half a page), so it should be easy to work the 2 pages across and then move down.

4kidsat147 Not bad, but I think you make it sound easier than it will be, at least for me! It would be very difficult for me to make sure I was putting the drills in the right spaces without the pattern being on the canvas. I have enough trouble when it IS on the canvas! I’ve had to take drills off several times because I was putting them on the wrong symbol. Good luck. I’ll be following along and doing it vicariously with you!

I'm sure I'll mess up somewhere along the line. There is someone who will put the design onto a canvas for you, but they are based in the states so wouldn't be cost effective for me.

I think you are crazy but in the best of ways. I am excited to watch you work on this project. I will just follow along while working on my "cow" painting and thinking of ways to incorporate DP drills into my scrapbooking pages also.

I really want to do this design too, with my spares just like you. How do you know what colours the DMC numbers under 150 are? I notice when I looked at the colours needed there are a few.

HI Lynda, you can google alternative colours in DMC for the low numbers; however, I chose a painting that didn't have any.

Hello, I'm thinking of doing a similar project. I have my eye on a heaven and earth design but i'm not quite sure how to work out what size canvas I have to order in order to complete it properly. Could you tell me which measurements I have to look at to order the right size canvas. Thank you so much for your help

hi, great to hear you're thinking of doing a HAED. The facebook group HAED Diamond painting is a great source of inspiration but to get the measurement you times the number of stitches by 0.25. This will give you the sticky area you need.

Amazing idea! I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with all my extra drills and have thought it seemed strange there were no blank canvases or ways to get just the canvas with a design. I guess I just wasn’t looking hard enough!

Thank you. Any cross stitch pattern will work with a blank canvas (backstitch, half stitch or French knots excluded), but heaven and earth designs have the added information by letting you know how many individual stitches are used, making it easy to know how many diamonds.

When you ordered the supersize max colour chart did they send you the colour chart or did you have to download this separately. Please.

If I remember rightly they emailed me link to download the colour chart. It depends if you chose the PDF version or the hard copy.

Hi Tess, I got the regular chart and it's just the difference in the size of the pattern when printed on a standard size of paper. I figured I can enlarge it and print on more pages if I really needed to.

That's an awesome idea I was like I'm not getting a heaven and earth design there so expensive because you have to buy everything like the canvas the drills and the design. I'm definitely going to be watching how you do this because since you're using your your spares because you're going to have to move along through the painting and I work in a small space Also to looking forward to seeing those RU-vid videos

Thanks, the videos will be coming as I've started work on this. It's amazing how many colours I had all I need just in my spares (83 colours I had in full, 22 I might have all - but I'm not counting to check, and 57 I had some) so not a bad start.

How many drills per inch are there?

Each drill is 0.25cm and this is the measurement used to work out the canvas size.

You could do it in rounds; however, they are larger so you'd need the right blank canvas, plus you need to be aware the white canvas will show around the edges.
