Parenting circa 1993 versus parenting today. I don't think it was any easier. And certainly not on the kids they were raising back then. But I think many of the challenges remain the same. Moms still have to defend their favorite foods from the bottomless pits they birthed. Birthday cupcakes might come from a store now but they must be obtained all the same.

People still don't believe me when I tell them I ate everything my parents gave me. I was an adult before I told my mother I didn't like beef stew. She thought it was my favorite and would make it for me when I moved out for special occasion. She thought i loved it because I would eat it so fast haha. And after I casually mentioned it one day the hurt on her face did Not make me feel better for telling her. She wasn't mad, didn't say anything rude but I could tell . And I do like it now anyway ha. Your whole channel cracks me up, as a Gen X parent I can honestly claim to having been a little then and a lot more now in my parenting style. Now that my oldest has kids, I'm loving seeing my style of parenting be reworked to fit her. And seeing her improve things that I wish I had done better is just amazing. But as a Mom who's birthdates span 1991,1998,2004 I had a long long run on shifting parenting ideas. And my best advice? treat them like they are people, from babyhood to adulthood, even when they aren't acting as people-ish as the could be and are acting more wild animal, or hormone with feet, treating them like a person usually helped them act more like a person in the end.
@spagstuff

what was the most fun is teaching my kids how to diy distress their pants so they'd look cool. And teaching them how to do punk hair and make up during their punk/goth/scene fazes. And having them love to raid my closet for vintage 90's clothes. And to watch my youngest buy clothes that look just like I wore in the 80's mixed with my early 90's wardrobe cracks me up. And music.. I have replaced my music collection 3 times as they all steal something different from me in whatever phase they are going through.. But there is no more fun thing than singing at the top of your lungs to the latest stuff on the radio in front of your kid's friends after your kid says something about you being old and out of touch.. "oh yea? then give me my Bowie t-shirt back.. creep"

There was no option. How they didn’t die of a heart attack from the worry back then I’ll never know. Now I still worry, and he’s 20! & in University. Most of the time my friends and I were running amok. I had a car @ 16 & use of one after they died off one by one (the perils of hand me downs) - so I was the driver & we did some rather questionable shit - nothing too dangerous, but definitely sus. Jeans with holes were becoming a thing when I was in high school in the early 80's. I had a pair of old jeans that were worn and the knee areas tore open. I laced them up with some neon orange shoe laces. It became a trend at my school!

Kids these days will never know the anxiety of waking up early to check to see if it snowed over night, run to watch the news and wait for the entire alphabet of schools to go by just to see if yours was closed that day.

Instead of watching the report, I listened to am radio 😂 6:30 am to find out. Also, they wouldn’t close school unless it was -22 below zero. -21 , you went to school! Went to school in the dark and came home in the dark. Ah winter. Good memories 🎉
